Today, May 17th, while most of us were at home or at work The last male purebred Columbia Basin pygmy rabbit died. There are two females left. They are going to try cross breeding them with a rare Rabbit from Idaho. So far it hasn't worked. Even with cross breeding the species is gone. Here is a pic of what we have lost:

Cute wasn't it? Gone because of our stupidity. Go here to find out what you can do to help!!! http://www.fws.gov/endangered/
Don't let our stupidity end another creature. REMEMBER EXINCT IS FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!

Oh yeah here is the article confirming its death! http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060517/ap_on_sc/endangered_rabbit

"There is no use trying," said Alice; "one can't believe impossible things." "I dare say you haven't had much practice," said the Queen. "When I was your age, I always did it for half an hour a day. Why, sometimes I've believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast." Lewis Carroll

On another forum, someone asked me what do I think of the possibility of CLONING in such circumstances! I would say YES, I would support.

Yeah.. there are so many situations today where I think that genetic engineering is being used recklessly and needlessly but in this kind of situation I think it is totally called for. I hope they will preserve the genetic information so that when our ability to clone has improved we will be able to restore this creature and others that have gone extinct because of human folly.
