I believe that God is loving, compassionate, forgiving, understanding, and kind.I also believe that people who view God as hateful, evil, vengeful, or as basically a monster are projecting THEIR views onto God. I just don't believe that God can be anything but love and goodness. IP: Logged |

I have a question, Why does'nt U.S.politics seperate Church & State? It seems that religion is a must for all candidates. I know that it is totally different here, where it is'nt mentioned, just wondered.IP: Logged |

Because the rabid Christians for the most part have most of the money so they run the country. I detest it. We were refused to be allowed to be married at the courthouse because we refused the Christian ceremony. I was charged with contempt of court many times because I refused to put my hand on and swear (to tell the truth) on a mostly vile book (the bible) I do not believe in, from a religion I detest. In school I was punished for not kissing up to the Christian teachers. Church and State should never mix.As for God, God is not about religion nonsense nor about politics. Folks that think so are insulting God.

Thanks for your reply Lexx, I also believe in a higher power, but I have no use for any organized religions, how many wars have been fought in the name of God? IP: Logged |

I personally agree with you about separation of church and state. I find it highly unfair that you were not allowed to be married in a secular setting. A justice of the peace (I'm assuming that you went to one, given that you mention going to a court) should not bring religion into the marriage ceremony unless it is requested by those getting married. However, I don't agree that the Bible itself is vile. Some things that people do in the book are vile, but the book itself is simply telling the story. I think that it's important to make that distinction. it's what people do (and, later on, what people reading the book and misusing it would do) that is vile. I would also say that there are lovely passages in the Bible too, such as Song of Songs and, if you have the deuterocanonical books, Wisdom. IP: Logged |
