Sorry folks, but this bothers me.When I first started bothering with message boards, there was one rule: -Talk about the subject, not the person This is being steam rolled constantly in this thread by both sides of the discussion. *Please pardon this tangential note to T*Jwhop's language was horribly offensive, but I think he had a vulnerable, sad energy about him, and that's why he was tolerated, even welcomed, for so long. Just like a family will invite the crazy aunt to dinner. Peregrine was friendlier than Jwhop and less insulting, yet he was banned. Ultimately I think things are decided by personal preferences...it's unavoidable. IP: Logged |

I agree with the last point.  To me jwhop didnt have a sad or vulnerable energy (quite the opposite, imo!  ) and I actually got along quite well with him and didnt mind him here. We were quite fond of one another and I'n not even sure why...for no particular reason really. It helped that I didnt read much in GU (and still don't) and found him to be quite fun otherwise. I don't care that Ami is here either or that she seems to be handled with kid gloves. I mean, it doesnt bother me, but like anyone, I DO notice it and have my ideas as to why that is. Yeah, I also found peregrine to be a fun, kind of rambunctious but rather innocent energy/person here. I'll stop now as i'm derailing the thread. But yes, personal preferences will get you a long way or allow certain actions overlooked, that otherwise wouldnt be.  IP: Logged |
