Still not out of the woods yet, but much better, just struggling with the mind storms.

I actually work on a Pediatric/Mother-Baby floor, but I've been floated to Cardiac and general adult floors so I know what you're talking about. I apologize for the angry icon but nothing makes me more madder than going to other floors and finding that the staff just puts people in diapers because they're too lazy to help them up to use the bathroom or comode. Its negligent and undignifying to the person who wants to be treated like a functioning adult.

I'm glad you left, and I wish you had found another hospital but if the Doctor okayed it, then I guess I'm fine with it too.

Lots of healing!

Off and on.
It will take time, as the mind storms are the result of brain cell death, and as new pathways generate to bypass the damaged areas, things will improve.
I use my logic and will to keep from going mad or over the edge, and have a sign up reminding me that the freakish or even flashes of suicidal ideology are simply temporary glitches in the brain and will let up in a few weeks as is perfectly normal and common after a mini stroke. This was the 5th. one since 2004 and most likely had ones before that unconfirmed.
I have had two brain concussions/skull fractures (1973 and 1989) so it is no wonder there are problems on top of the neck/back/industrial poisoning, birth defects, and neurological issues.
Lexigrams! My serious passion since 1959!!!!!! Over half a century to date!
Yes, In addition to my posts at LL at Lexigram Magic under both my user names, old and current;
I do have a site but it has not been updated in years. I do have blogs and a fb group.
I sent you an invite awhile back but you did not respond so figured you were not interested.

I will try to recap in some detail the ill treatment I was receiving there.
Suffice it to say, in somewhat condensed form;
[list]
  • Not a handicapped safe room
  • No rails or grab bars on bed or in bathroom
  • slippery floors
  • they make one wear socks which make floor super super slippery
  • refused to feed me even though it had been 12 hours since I had eaten (excuse? the cafeteria was closed for the night)
  • refused to let my husband stay...after they said he could when they admitted me...but then told him he could not...and he was having troubles with his seizures to boot! Who was going to watch him?
  • they never touched me except to attach monitoring equipment....NONE OF WHICH WERE TO MONITOR MY BRAIN!
  • they were NOT MONITORING FOR STROKE AT ALL! Only heart which was just fine! (well who knows..see next point!)
  • they attached the heart monitor and before that, the EKG leads in a very incorrect way; on my humongous breasts and below my navel. That is sooooo wrong! They got the ankle ones right.
They looked like they were going to vomit at the sight of my body, which is much like this:

only not cute on a non tanned corpse like pale person like myself...having lost over 100 pounds to date.
So, yeah, they did not want to touch me, even though I was squeeky clean and smelled good.
    continued next post.....

Hospitals are not good places to be ill in.
    Ironic isn't it?
I was told to not get stressed out there and rest.....
    yeah right...like wtf?
THEY WERE ADDING SUBSTANTIALLY TO MY STRESS LEVELS!
    FRAKING INCOMPETENT UNFEELING IDIOTS!
My bp was a bit high when I got to ER/hospital;, 148/86, but then rose up to 199/98 there due to their aggravating me with their incompetence,
and within a few minutes of being at home...128/70.

It was horrible and made me feel so helpless and not safe there at all.
Here is the rest of the post...it would not fit on the one....
  • they never examined my eye which was blind
    at that time.
  • I was made to move myself from gurney to MRI and screwed up my neck and back worse in the process, because I needed help but they refused to let my husband help(he has been trained to move me etc.!)and refused to get anyone else to assist. I almost fell on the floor as the damn gurney moved, and the 100 pound tech tried to keep it from moving as I lay straddling the gurney and MRI platform.
I had to take a 3 hour round trip the next morning to my chiropractor's other office farther away for emergency treatment because
My neck and back were seriously thrown out of whack because of the hospital's lack of assisting me to move and refusing to get help or let my "trained in moving me" husband assist..
  • and yeah, they wanted to diaper and urine catheter me to save them the trouble of helping me use the (non handicapped) bathroom.
  • I require special pillows and bolsters to lie in bed or sleep, to keep from having partial paralysis episodes...and the hospital was not going to accommodate me nor allow my husband to go home and bring the needed items to me! (hospitals do not allow "home" use pillows etc. because of sanitation rules)
  • The room was bare. Nothing to keep me occupied.....like books or a laptop...
  • and there were huge spiders and webs outside the window {shudder)...I do not like spiders.
  • my doctors (called several times to hoispital, as did we) but as of 5 days later never got the results back of the tests, and the hospital said they can not find the EKG, HEART MONITOR, Cat Scan or Chest X-ray reports! WTF?????
We saw the reports whilst there so know damn well they have them!!!!!!!!!
I AM THINKING THEY SCREWED UP DOING THEM SO "lost" the reports intentionally!
OK...rant over for now; as it really was an awful ordeal.
It really does help to be able to write here about it.

    I'm glad you're okay!

My grandmother died in the hospital, a week ago. My aunt was furious, due to the fact that she'd told the nurse not to turn her onto her left side - that her heart was weak, and it made her uncomfortable - and that she was less comfortable on that side. The nurse insisted that she be turned, so my aunt implored her to be gentle. Two doctors walked into the room - one, a doctor she'd argued with a couple of days before, and the other some hospital bigwig - I can't remember what she said they wanted, but the next thing she knew, they'd walked out, the nurse had walked in, turned my grandmother over quickly (wasn't gentle at all), and within five minutes, granny made a noise and was gone. ( at the nurse.)

    OMG!
    WTF is it with hospitals???????
A similar thing happened with a dear friend.
She was dying in a hospice of cancer.
She too could not safely lay in certain positions, one being flat on her back, due to breathing problems.
Well when we were called back when she died, the condition of her body was absolutely horrible!
It was clear that they abused her by both laying her flat on her back...no pillow even, in her weakened condition she could not turn herself.
She was in stiff rigor mortis when we arrived, and her body arched about 10 inches off the bed in a frozen agony spasm, and her tongue was out real far and hands frozen in horrible clenched fists, and her face frozen in a silent scream of sheer terror!
It was very clear that she was left alone and suffered horribly and that upon her death no one even bothered to arrange her body and prop her mouth shut or close her eyes before rigor mortis occurred.
The b!tch on duty said our friend was yelling for water too often and was being unreasonable. Our friend was a 80 pound 91 year old woman not senile in the least!
When we were in earlier before she died, the nurses changed her sheets and were rolling her about very roughly, like a piece of meat, and the poor dear lady had only a top on to boot and was crying in racking body shaking tears to "please cover me, please please cover me"
but the 3 low life over paid hospice nurses just laughed at her and made jokes like..
"what do you have to hide grandma?"
Since these so called hospice nurses of compassion for the dying treated her so cruelly whilst we were there...god only knows what horrors and terrors they subjected her too after we left.:-(
    Get this...
I BELIEVE THEY MAY HAVE KILLED HER!
    WHY?
Because the clock on the wall said 12:15AM.
    The clock was not working.
The hands were set several hours before her death at the EXACT TIME SHE DIED!
    Get this.....
When we were waiting for her son to arrive after she died, I took the clock down, and yep...NO BATTERY IN IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
LIKE IT WAS SET TO REMIND THEM TO KILL HER AT 12:15AM,!
WORSE...IT WAS RESET TO A NEW TIME OF 5PM OR SO.....
SO WHO WERE THEY GOING TO KILL AT 5:30 THE NEXT DAY????????
    OK...must take break awhile.
I am so fraking disgusted at such creeps.
    edit to add:
we tried our best to cover her up and arrange her body in such a way to minimize the horrible way it was when we first got there after her torturous death...but could not get her tongue in or close her mouth. We were able to at least close her eyes.
If her son had seen what we had, he would have gone insane.
Sorry for writing so graphically but folks need to know that all hospital staff and hospice staff are not competent nor good caring folks but sadistic unfeeling monsters.

    On another note.....
do your own research when it comes to illness because too many doctors in practice are idiots who are literally "JUST PRACTICING" and do not want to cure folks, because cured folks do not need them!
    Case and point:
I have suffered from a genetic form of IBS all my life to date.
As a child, I was given regular dose of an opium tincture and a belladonna tincture, since outlawed.
Well in March 19th. 1999 it became worse and disabling to the point I could no longer go anywhere at the spur of the moment, nor swim or have sex....and even missed my son's wedding because of it and he no longer speaks to me.
So since 1999, over 11 years, my life has been on hold, and the daily agony and living mostly betwixt bed/toilet/chair was the norm.
Since then, a few weeks ago, it was ascertained that it is cyclic. Why? Not sure.
Perhaps Endometriosis (which, get this, can involve the brain and cause strokes or blood clots internal bleeding any place in the body.
Well I had asked SEVERAL doctors what could I do for the disabling IBS, and they said.."nothing", or get surgery to shite in a bag connected to an ostomy hole, and other such rotten advice.
Well about two weeks ago I was talking with my husband about my childhood.
    Oh my!
I remembered the belladonna and opium tinctures used for my child hood pain and IBS!
I went online and found two similar legal prescription drugs!
    Donnatal...with belladonna!
For two days before the mini stroke I was feeling the best I had in years!
The IBS was under control at last!
Then the damn tia/mini stroke hit.
    Well talk about depressing.
    OK...to wrap this up,
it was not the Donnatal which caused it, so been taking it again and wow...within minutes my digestive tract is not in spasm and I have even lost 6 pounds!
Still must take bare minimum to avoid side effects, but wow!

I'm so furious any time I hear about bad treatment from healthcare professionals. People are so dependent upon them and they know it, which I should think would make them more mindful in their work. BenedictMoon, I'm glad you work in a hospital and I wish there were more of you out there to compensate for the ones who are bad apples.

    LEXX,

Just popping in to say to say I'm glad you are feeling better but I'm sorry you had such a horrific ordeal in the hospital. I think the hospital may have killed my beloved grandmother too. Long story, don't really feel like talking about it, but she was afraid of doctors and avoided going to the doctor for 40 years and was just fine and one day got too sick to put it off any longer and when she finally had to go she never came back alive

Spanky--where did you get that picture? It triggered something in me, almost like a memory! I got the strangest feeling while looking at it.

I am saddened about your grandmother.
I feel these abuses in hospitals happen far more often than folks think...
hence why most hospitals will not usually let a friend or family member stay with the patient.

Oh, please remind me to finish your aura rerading if I do not get to it today.

We've talked little, but I care about you so much. It must be in my blood, since you've left a deep imprint on my brother as well. He got into astrology last year and visited this site for research. He periodically asks me, "How's Lexx?"

It's such a rude awakening how callous and downright vicious caregivers and health care professionals can be. My mom was in the hospital for a few months a couple of years ago. She got good care, but I saw some of what you describe. I went every day to make sure her treatment was top notch. I hated the way patients w/o strong advocates were degraded. Or I should say, patients w/o advocates the hospital workers perceived as strong. So much comes down to image and social power. Devastatingly unjust and enraging. All the sh1t in humanity.

I hate that you experience so much pain. I'm grateful that you're brilliant so able to record and communicate what you're experiencing. These people need to be held accountable.

    Love to you!

    Musette -

I second what you said about BM.
