What about earth as ruler for taurus?

It is used in the chart. It is the center, just how would we relate it by aspects to the other planets.

Come to think of it the moon isn't really a planet. (I think it's only fair each sign has something of equal status, not one left with only an astroid.....)

i disagree, i think the air signs for both planets are the real rulers, i do not see taurus having anything to do with beauty, socialism, and most the things im aware of as venus being for. i allways thought libra was alot more 'Venusian'

i don't see virgo having much role as being ruled by mercury. i mean, i think mercury boosts intelligence equally in gemini in virgo, but maybe they are just different styles?

i think maybe virgo and taurus, are just the earthy versions of the air signs. thats my opinion. although honestly i hardly see much 'venus' in taurus atall.

to me thats like saying capricorn is the co ruler of sun, i just don't see it atall.

i noticed most the guys are voting libra instead of tuarus for venus, and women voting taurus for venus.

that says something about men and women in a way lol

I understand the the Virgo/Mercury connection. It has to do with Virgo's need to analyze and discern and judge (for good or bad), in order to see the flaws in things and make improvements - something which Virgos have a very strong drive to do. I'm a Cancer Sun, Mercury and Mars with Aqua Rising and a Virgo Moon (along with a huge Virgo stellium) and I'm extremely (even compulsively) analytical. As a Virgo Moon my heart is ruled by my head - I pick everything apart and analyze everything I feel, see, hear, experience, etc. My mind is always in overdrive, analyzing and trying to "fix" everything. It's exhausting!

Mercury [Hermes] was hardly "earthy" though. Come on, he had wings on his feet lol

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hermes
http://www.hermograph.com/science/mercury2.htm
http://ancienthistory.about.com/od/hermesmercurymyth/ss/Hermes122108.htm

Hermes was playful, restless, naughty, a thief and a tricky messenger. Some of his offsprings were:
Pan [a satyr]
Hermaphroditus
Priapus
Eros
Tyche [meaning "luck"]

If we look into Hera's myth, there are many parts that fit in the Taurus-Scorpio polarity.

I can see the link with Taurus and Venus..if you look for example Aphrodite the Greek counter part of Venus..and then Hathor the Egyptian Goddess who was also associated with Venus and Aphrodite the Roman and Greek counter parts. Same figure just different names.

Hathor is always represented with horns as we know is associated with Taurus. Just my insight.

Taureans are some of the most beautiful people i know inside and out.

quote:
Aphrodite had no childhood: in every image and each reference she is born adult, nubile, and infinitely desirable. Aphrodite, in many of the late anecdotal myths involving her, is characterized as vain, ill-tempered and easily offended. Though she is one of the few gods of the Greek Pantheon to be actually married, she is frequently unfaithful to her husband. Hephaestus is one of the most even-tempered of the Hellenic deities; in the narrative embedded in the Odyssey Aphrodite seems to prefer Ares, the volatile god of war. She is one of a few characters who played a major part in the original cause of the Trojan War itself: not only did she offer Helen of Sparta to Paris, but the abduction was accomplished when Paris, seeing Helen for the first time, was inflamed with desire to have her—which is Aphrodite's realm.

Don't know about you, but all this screams Libra to me. Mind you, Ares [Mars] was her lover/opposite. You make a good point though.
An other point of view is that perhaps Venus is more suited for Venus than Libra. Sometimes I just can't associate Libra with fertility/materialism/all things earthy.

Hi good girl, everyone,

Wow, I might be a dumb arse but has anyone ever noticed something with the horoscope and the rulers, as follows:

Start with Leo - the Sun(5th)

then Moon(for Cancer)

then the next two either side of Sun, Moon
are the Mercurys(Gemini, Virgo)

then the next two the Venuses

then the two Mars(Old ruler Scorp)

then the next are the Jupiters(Pisces, Sag)

and then the horoscope is completed with the two Saturns(Aquarius and Capricorn, old ruler for Aqu)

What a pattern! and in order from the sun, with Earth of course in the centre.

Yeah, earlier I posted in this thread about dual rulership of a sign but I should have correctly said co-rulership...it got me thinking.

The 'modern' introduced rulers don't seem to have a pattern from what I can see but then as I was thinking, maybe the puzzle has only just been started...

....the pattern strongly suggests that the dual rulerships are right

side note, my idea for Venus for Taurus, because Taurus is acquisitive

Chryseis:

What about this idea:

venus attracts its possessions.

Taurus builds/ works for its. Those would be two differnt types of energy.

Whereas Libra seeks to attract...

Yeah, well maybe both signs attract for some kind of stability - taurus, security/stability, and Libra, for balance

Well, since no one else has offered, I'm happy to be ruler of both Virgo and Taurus.

Like Lex Luthor in the Superman 2 movie who wants Australia. I'll take 'em.

Hi Goodgirl. I thought Vulcan was ruler of Virgo?!?!?

The only complaint I have...I would like to know more about Vulcan (h55 @ Astro) I know physically its never far from the Sun. Vulcan will never be more than one sign ahead of your Sun, I THINK. (wouldnt it be nice if Venus did that? ) I think in an individuals chartits more important to look at the ASPECTS Vulcan makes.

But I really want to know the mythology and signifigance of Vulcan. Linda Goodman said it was actually the Lame GODDESS of Thunder. Greek Myth says he was a GOD and Lame and copulated with Venus to make Cupid.
