According to Julie Demboski:

quote:
The eclipse occurs at 5:55 PM August 5th PDT; technically, the eclipse itself starts a few minutes after exactitude, but I think it’s reasonable to look at the moment of first contact, so here we are. And what do we see? No contact, using our strict two degree orb rule, except for a puzzling semi-square to the Ascendant (a ‘So what?’ position), and a sesquiquadrate to the Part of Fortune. But, if we stretch our rule just a hair (and what are rules for, if not to stretch hairs over), we finda Fist of God, with sesquiquadrates to the Part of Fortune and Ceres (aka Mother Nature). Ah! Now a picture is forming.

Am I reaching, using the Part of Fortune? Depends on how you feel about the use of the Arabic Parts in general, I guess, but for an ‘occasion’ (or an event, as I’m guessing this will be) it seems appropriate. Using it allows us to have some fun (or to frighten the bejezus out of ourselves, depending!)

So, the chart I’ve drawn is for Seattle, my current hometown, and eclipse time puts Pluto at 00 Cap–what’s built is destroyed, disruption to the status quo–just inside the 1st at a late Sagittarius Ascendant, which makes a tight quincunx to the South Node–what’s happened before will happen again? or is it what’s been destroyed before, etc?–with Part of Fortune exact on the Descendant. Hmmm. Add the Nodes in crisis at 29 degrees, the aforementioned Fist of God, with component Ceres spanking new in Libra–nature, balance, out of balance, at 00–and Ceres square to Pluto–stability lost, Mother Nature disrupted–are we looking at an earthquake chart?

Now, I don’t like to make predictions, because I believe that nothing, absolutely nothing, is set in stone, nor do I want to whip my readers into a frenzy, or earn the epithet ‘Crazy Julie’; but this is an intriguing pattern, worth noting–and if nothing happens, all the better, or the earthquakes are personal or symbolic–I’d be glad to be wrong.

I don’t want to expect a disaster, but with these measurements I might anticipate one, and my own research has matched contact to the angles with earthquake activity–but of course, there are zillions of contacts to the angles all day long–it just seems that when an earthquake does occur, there’s significant, precise contact–so stay safe, West Coasters! And no matter how flamingly wrong I am about this, the post will stay up–just so we can all laugh about it on the 6th.

i find it interesting in the light of all the controversy around him that this eclipse is on president obama's sun (his birthday was yesterday) during his jupiter return year. hopefully the conj of psyche and nessus will help him straighten out this muddle of a country -

it is also conjunct my natal psyche! i was looking forward to it before i realized the nessus/psyche jam up but now i am really thrilled at the possibilities.

2 years ago there was an Eclipse on my birthday (so it conjuncted my Sun). Nothing noticeable happened.

And there have been a succession of Aquarius/Leo eclipses since then and still, NOTHING HAPPENED.

Glaucus,

yes, since Ceres also is symbolic of the mother, it could very well be.

ArchSkeptic, critical thinker, paranormal debunker, former illusionist/escape artist James Randi's birthday is August 7th, and so the lunar eclipse will oppose his Sun. I strongly doubt that he believes that is meaningful. Heck...he might even say that the eclipse not having an effect on him is an example of Astrology being superstition, delusional magical thinking.

actually I had a hard time sleeping
I went to bed around 1 AM. I kept waking up, tossing and turning. my stomach was feeling queasy. I ate too much last night. I was eating barbecue chicken, hotlinks, baked beans, and pineapple upside cake that my aunt and cousin gave me on Sunday. They also gave me potato salad and maccaroni. I already ate the potato salad on Monday.

Glaucus, I am jealous - that food sounds absolutely divine to me right about now!!

I had problems sleeping too. I was on a very weird schedule for a long time, but since I've returned to CA, I don't general get up too late, and go to bed a lot earlier than usual. Last night was weird, I was up until 4 AM, thinking, and went outside and could almost feel the rays of the moon. It was odd, but nice.

I don't know about this eclipse. I have a lot of new romance in my life now, but I have no idea where it's going in general, so we'll see.
I will say that the eclipses have triggered something in me which is making me go through the process of releasing one of my exes somehow. I've already forgiven and released him, but this feels like a very final goodbye, so it's been interesting.

I was awake too early this morning...around 3a.m. went outside with the dog and she was prowling, hearing noises and looking for something and protective of me...a surprise since she doesn't normally act like that at all.

Today was crazy energy at lunch drove from work to go get lunch...the energy felt wound up tight.

The eclipse falls on my 5th house and I had the best day with my bf last night we went to the movies by train for a change rather than driving everywhere and we laughed and acted like 16 yr olds on the train and then we watched MY SISTERS KEEPER.. I cried the whole movie and then came all the way back home laughing again.

The eclipse also fell on my progressed sun..

This Eclipse will be conjunct my Aquarius Jupiter in the 2nd house. I can only hope for some positive energy & a extra boost in the financial area. I'm going to be moving to a new apartment and haven't worked out most of the monetary logistics. I also realized that it will be energizing my Jupiter-Chiron & MC grand trine.

Any thoughts on what could happen? Hopefully a new lucrative job! Lol.

Happy Full Moon to all!

I want to point out that the eclipse conjunct Uranus/Pluto midpoint. I just realized that this morning.

so Moon conjunct Uranus/Pluto midpoint which oppose Sun

so Moon = Sun = Uranus/Pluto

Uranus/Pluto midpoint is currently in 13'33 Aquarius.

so the eclipse would seem to involve upheaval, intense change, unexpected transformation

Yesterday, I was trying to check the eclipse (at Portugal, around 0:30am), yet it's not really noticeable, just as according to wiki. ^_~; The Moon was really really bright, almost like the sunshine lol~

I think that an eclipse this weak wouldn't really produce any effects. ^_~;

That's because it was only an appulse eclipse

meaning that the Moon only entered the penumbral shadow of the Earth. The Moon would appear gray, as though someone flipped a dimmer switch, rather than go completely dark.

any significant changes that a person might experience could be from the transiting Uranus/Pluto midpoint conjuncting, opposing, square that the angle, planet or any other object that was conjuncted, opposed, squared by the eclipse. Even transiting midpoints involving semisquare and sesquiquadrate are used in Cosmobiology.

It's important to isolate the effects of the eclipse from the effects of the Uranus/Pluto midpoint.

heck...I found out that transiting Uranus/Neptune midpoint in 10'45 Pisces is squaring my Midheaven in 11'14 Gemini, and that could indicate my problems with sleeping. Uranus/Neptune midpoint figures into insomnia.
