I know this could be viewed as a controversial post. I believe that anything post that has race as a subject can be very complicated post. This isn't a post about soulmates, relationships which tends to be a main thing in Linda Goodman forum. This is a post about social matters, issues that many people go through. It is the reality that that race does matter. Racism or to put it more accurate terms, racial bigotry does exist in the world and in the United States of America which is known as Great American Melting Pot but I think more as Gumbo soup.

As many people know, there has been a history of Black African slaves in America. The First blacks in America came as indentured servants in the early 1600's. The United States of America declared their Independence from Great Britain on July 4, 1776, but the independence of all Americans was not in mind when that declaration was written. The Founding Fathers didn't care about Blacks and Native Americans. There were slaves in the White House. Mercury in Cancer was retrograde and opposition to Pluto in Capricorn is an indicator that the declaration of Indepedence was not well thought out as well as trust/power issues. Sun in Cancer square Saturn indicated not just patriotism but also the domestic issues that involve hardship, boundaries, oppression which Native Americans and Blacks,African Americans endured. Mars in Gemini square Neptune indicates illusive motivations. All these aspects can indicate hypocrisy behind the Declaration of Independence because independence was for only the white people in the original 13 colonies at the time. They didn't care about the independence and the rights to freedom, liberty, pursuit of happiness for Native Americans and Blacks,African Americans.

There was a Civil War that took place between the Northern States aka The Union and Southern States aka the Confederacy. the Confederacy broke away from the United States after Abraham Lincoln was elected president who was against slavery in USA and wanted slavery abolished throughout the United States.
The Civil War started in April 12, 1861, when Confederate forces attacked a U.S. military installation at Fort Sumter in South Carolina.
There was a conjunction of Sun and true Black Moon in Aries which indicates not only the aggressive nature of the event but that it was very emotional with countryman vs fellow country man. Eris in Pisces was squaring Mars-Uranus conjunction which indicate controversy,trouble-making,stirring up stuff. It also fits with diversity, equal rights matters involving Black Americans that were slaves in the South. Confederacy were fighting to keep their way of life intact, and that included slavery of Blacks. There was a Mercury conjunct Neptune in Pisces which fits not only idealism, deception, but also victimization in regards to slavery issue of Blacks. There is belief that Abraham Lincoln didn't have sincere intentions in regards to the freeing of blacks and giving them equality.
The Last Battle of The Civil War was in April 9, 1865. General Robert Lee surrended to General Ulysses Grant (future president of USA). Neptune semisextile the Mercury-Eris sextile can reflect the surrender, bridging gaps, creating compromise, but it also fits with the Blacks getting rights. After all, with the Union winning the Civil War, slavery would be abolished in the South. Mercury conjunct Pluto in Taurus indicates transformative communications as well as the breaking down of rigidity which fits with the end of slavery.
There was an opposition of Jupiter in Sagittarius and Uranus in Gemini which to me indicates an aspect of independence, freedom, expansion, luck for Blacks because they were now free.

Blacks in the South didn't have civil rights until July 2nd, 1964 which was the date of the Civil Rights Act signed by President Lyndon B. Johnson. That occurred during Eris in Aries square the opposition of Sun in Cancer and true Black Moon Lilith in Capricorn. That could indicate civil/equal rights matters that might have caused domestic controversy. The true Black Moon Lilith involved indicates women might have felt left out when it came to equal rights. There were inequality issues between men and women and not just whites and blacks. There was an opposition of Saturn in Pisces and Uranus in Virgo which reflected the conflict of old vs. new and conservatism vs. liberalism when it came to civil rights for Blacks. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was like the main leader of the Civil Rights movement, and he paid for it with his life for he was assassinated on April 4, 1968. Sun and Saturn were in an almost exact conjunction which indicate violence and even death (Saturn was traditional ruler of death before Pluto was discovered) and definitely a day of sorrow. Mars was conjunct the heliocentric North Eris Node indicating violence in connection to diversity, equality matters. Mercury-Venus in Pisces in opposition to Uranus-Pluto in Virgo could indicate the unexpected martyrdom.

Even though Blacks were able to vote and were no longer segregated, interracial relationships were against the law until
the Supreme Court decision of Loving vs. Virginia on June 12, 1967 which led to striking down all antimiscegenation,anti-interracial relationship laws in USA.
Sun in Gemini square Pluto-Uranus conjunction in Virgo indicate a day of transformation, change, revolution. Sun quincunx Neptune in Scorpio can indicate the dissolving of intimate boundaries being highlighted. The conjunction of Jupiter and Venus square the conjunction of True Black Moon Lilith, the North Lunar Node,Heliocentric North Eris Node in Taurus indicates the freedom, expansion of love, relationships in connected to diversity, equality.

There was a slur that was used against Blacks by many whites during the days of slavery in and is still used to this very day. The slur is called "nigger" It was a term that white slave masters use for their black slaves. It came from the word,Negro (Spanish,Portuguese for Black). This was a very common term in the United States during the Civil Rights days. Even in the 1980's, it was a common used word against Blacks. As we got into the 1990's and 2000's the word, "nigga" was used by blacks as a brotherhood, endearment term. Some of it was connected to Rap music which became very popular by the mid 1980's. Personally, I can't stand the word, "nigger" and "nigga". I have been called both terms numerous times into the 2000's. My first time was when I was 9 years old, and I felt that initiated me into the Black experience, helping me realize what it's like to be Black. I feel that there is much less racism now, but I feel that racism is still a problem in USA. I also found that the internet seems like a common way to express one's racial bigoted feelings for I see a lot of racial bigotry online. I read many racist comments to yahoo news stories that involved race relations matters. There are also Klu Klux Klan Chapters that still exist in United States. There is White Supremacy site called Stormfront too.

Even President Bush had even admitted to NAACP that racism is still a problem in USA when he had talked to them on July 20, 2006. Mercury in Cancer square Eris can indicate the communicate about domestic diversity, equality matters. Venus in Cancer sextile true Black Moon Lilith in Virgo seems to fit with opportunity to deal with equality matters. Mercury in Cancer quincunx the sextile of Pluto in Sagittarius and Ceres in Aquarius could also indicate the discussion about domestic issues involving racial matters. Saturn in Leo oppose Neptune in Aquarius has to do with dealing with what's real and what's not real as well as dissolution of boundaries like idealism removing rigidity.

A historical moment happened when Barack Obama, the son of a Black African man and a White American woman was elected president of the United States on November 4, 2008. which occured during a minor grand trine of Neptune in Aquarius sextile the trine of Venus in Sagittarius and Eris in Aries as well as the oppositions of the co-dispositors of Neptune in Aquarius which indicates the dissolution of cultural, racial boundaries and the accepting of diversity and equality. That fit with Barack Obama's Sun trine/contraparallel Eris,Sun square Neptune, and his Sun conjunct Heliocentric North Neptune Node. Saturn in Virgo and Uranus in Pisces is the old vs. the new as well as liberal vs. the conservative. Please note that there was a Saturn-Uranus opposition during the Civil Rights Act, and it had the same zodiac signs but they were switched around. Many hailed Obama's election as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr's dream being realized. President Obama was hailed as the first Black, African American President. That is something that I totally disagree with. After all, his mother was white. Why does the one drop rule persist (You're part black, then you're black). In most of USA's eyes, President Obama is black. That means, that I am black too in the eyes of USA for I am the son of a white mother and black father like President Obama. President Obama is different from other presidential candidates with black that ran for president in the past. All the other candidates were darker than him. All of them were born to parents that were both Black,African American and had Black American slave roots. Obama is not the son of 2 Black,African American parents nor does he have Black American slave roots. He didn't even grow up raised by black parents and barely knew his black father. He was mostly raised by his white maternal grandparents. Therefore, I don't see how his election proves that racism is not a problem in USA. There are strong differences in perceptions between blacks and whites in USA when it comes to race relations. There are racial disparities in many areas in the USA.

In 2008, USA was recorded to have a Black,African American population of 12.8 Percent. Blacks,African Americans are the largest minority in USA. As a white majority country, USA has the largest black minority population compared to countries in Europe, Australia, and Canada.

in 2008, USA was recorded to have a multiracial population of 1.7 Percent.
That's pretty small. I believe that there are a lot more multiracial people than that. I can't be just one of only 1.7 percent of the population. From the things that I read, most Blacks,African Americans have some white ancestry. I also read that 1/4 of White Americans have some Black,African American ancestry. It seems like being multiracial isn't some type of concept that is widely accepted by Americans. The one drop rule still exists with the notion that a person can be of only one race. I find that ridiculous.

Race relations matters have been very delicate subjects to talk about in USA, but I feel that these things need to be talked about. The racial divisions during the Reverend Wright fiasco showed the racial divide between Blacks and Whites about the perceptions on things in related to race.
The racial division during the Professor Gates/policeman thing with President Obama giving his 2 cents shows the divisions between whites and blacks when it comes to race relations. I do believe that Professor Gates shouldn't have been arrested in his own house by the policeman, but I do believe that he overreacted. I believed that both men overreacted. I don't believe that President Obama should be slammed so hard by many White Americans for the things that he said on July 22nd when True Black Moon Lilith in Capricorn was square Eris which can indicate diversity, equality issues. Some people branded him a racist which I feel stems from prejudices connected to his history with his former pastor,Rev. Wright. As a person that is part black, this man knows from experience about racial profiling. I know Blacks personally that suffered from police brutality and racial profiling. Heck...I was once pulled over by the cops and had to put my hands on their police car like I was going to be arrested when I was 17 walking outside at night. They thought I was somebody else. They let me go, telling me that they got the wrong person who was wearing white shorts like I was.

“It is absolutely the perfect name,” Dr. Brown said, given the continuing discord among astronomers and the public over whether Pluto should have retained its planetary status.

In mythology, Eris ignited discord that led to the Trojan War.

“She causes strife by causing arguments among men, by making them think their opinions are right and everyone else’s is wrong,” Dr. Brown said. “It really is just perfect.”

I am curious about any Blacks/African Americans, people that are part Black, multiracial people that are part black in this forum. I would like to know your experiences being that way as well as any racial bigotry that you dealt with because of your racial heritage.

I would like to know if you were ever been called "nigger" in your life. Do you remember certain periods when you were called that, and re-called any transits....especially memorable days like birthdays. Does the asteroid, Niger figure prominently in your chart....." aspects to personal planets, angles? Do you think that is in synchronicity with you being Black, part Black and called a "nigger" because you're Black, part Black.

This is very delicate subject, and so I can understand that you may not want to talk about it. It's not easy for me to talk about this stuff either, but I like to be honest and open to raise awareness about certain matters that many people just don't understand, can't relate to,and think that it's no big deal because it doesn't happen to them.....especially if they live isolated in certain areas where there is no racial diversity. I grew up in racially diverse Sacramento,California. My white mother straight up tells me that it's a city that still has problems with racial prejudice. The thing is that racial bigotry in regards to blacks is not evident in cities, states, towns where the black,African population is very small like less than 2 percent.

I would like to know the following placements

of the following asteroids:

Black
Africano - for African descent
Africa - African descent
Negron - for African descent

Niger - this is controversial, but in my experience, it works for the racial slur which is commonly used in USA for Blacks,African Americans.
So even though Niger is named after the country,Niger, it figures prominently in my life as a person of black,African American ancestry that is seen as "Black" and has been called "nigger" because of it.

also for multiracial people

White
Blanco - Spanish for White
Europa - for European descent

UnitedNations - multiracial,multicultural,interracial,intercultural
Babel' - racial,cultural diversity

In my own chart:

a conjunction of the following 4 minor planets:
Africano in 12'38 Aries R in 8th
Africa in 11'15 Aries R in 8th
Eris in 12'15 Aries R in 8th
Chiron in 10'32 Aries R in 8th

sextile Midheaven/Imum Coeli axis in 11'14 Gemini/Sagittarius

the connection of African American to wounds/healing (Chiron), diversity/equality (Eris) with my aim of life, family background(Midheaven/Imum Coeli axis)

a conjunction of the following:
White in 2'49 Pisces in 6th
Moon in 3'11 Pisces in 6th

square the opposition of
Retrograde Saturn in Gemini in 9th
Neptune in Sagittarius in 3rd

the connection of White people (White) with my feelings mother, women (Moon) in friction with dissolution (Neptune) of boundaries (Saturn) as well as the struggle between idealism (Neptune) and reality (Saturn)

In Rex E. Bill's Rulership Book,
Neptune is the planet associated with mulattoes and Saturn is the planet associated with Blacks. The Saturn-Neptune opposition square my Moon can indicate the struggle of my emotional relating as a mulatto or relating as a black person....the struggle of the one drop rule (I am black because I am part black even though I want to embrace the heritage of not only my black father but also my white mother)

the t-square of my Moon in Pisces in 6th square the opposition of retrograde Saturn in 9th and Jupiter-Neptune in Sagittarius in 3rd indicates the past racial conflict in me in regards to my being the son of a white mother but is often pinned down as being black for having a black father that I never even knew. It also indicates my desire to transcend racial boundaries as my idealism in connected to my multiracial background.

conjunction of:
Mars in 25'54 Aquarius in 6th

trine/sextile Midheaven/Imum Coeli in 11'14 Gemini/Sagittarius

the connection of White people (Blanco) with associations, destiny (North Lunar Node) in the area of romance, children (5th house) in connection with aim of life, family background (Midheaven/Imum Coeli) and philosophy, expansion, religion (Jupiter)

multiracial, multicultural, interracial, intercultural (UnitedNations) in connection with fated relationships (Vertex),self (Antivertex) and liberal relationships (Uranus in Libra) values (2nd house)

Niger in 13'47 Scorpio in 3rd
square Vertex/Antivertex in 14'58 Aquarius/Leo in 5th and 11th house
sextile Ascendant/Descendant in 13'27 Virgo/Pisces

Babel' in 6'17 Aquarius in 5th
square Sun in 5'20 Scorpio in 2nd/3rd
trine Saturn in 5'08 Gemini R in 9th
sextile Jupiter in 8'17 Sagittarius in 3rd

cultural, racial diversity(Babel') in connection my ego, self expression, father (Sun) with realism, authority figures (Saturn) in regards to other races, cultures (9th) and philosophy, religion (Jupiter in Sagittarius in 3rd)

the geocentric and heliocentric asteroid nodes too....they are astronomically relevant, and so they are astrologically relevant.

astronomers record the nodes of objects other than the moon

if it wasn't for astronomers,we wouldn't be able to calculate these asteroids and use them in Astrology
that's the same for the outerplanets, kuiper transneptunians, centaurs, and deep space objects

Therefore, astronomy greatly factors into our Astrology

geocentric asteroid nodes move quickly
they return to their positions in about a year.
they relate to personal matters/karma

heliocentric asteroid nodes move up to 1 degree per century.
they relate to collective matters/karma

The asteroid, Niger figured prominently in my life as a person who is part black that was called "nigger" numerous times.

Niger in Scorpio indicates that being called the "nigger" created intense, emotional reaction in me, and it did. Being called that racial slur always creates intense, emotional reaction in me.

3rd house is early education and the neighborhood as well as communications

I was first called the n'word on my 9th birthday by a girl that lived in the same apartment complex as me. She was the same age as me. She and I went to the same school.

I was also called "nigger" by a boy that lived right under me in the apartment complex.

In 7th grade, I was called a "nigger"
in 9th grade, I was called a "nigger" and I was treated like one...things like being told that I have naps, nappyheaded, and other things....it made me kinda ashamed of my looks a part black person...I wanted that "good" hair and not the frizzy hair. I didn't want my nose to be so big. I didn't like being so dark. Heck...I thought "If only I was like my mother"
I also got touchy when people told me that I didn't look like my mom because I looked too black to be her son.

I was called "nigger" in online chatrooms in the 2000's....the latest was 2004 by a white man from Florida in yahoo astrology chatroom. I had confronted him because he was calling arabs in the chatroom "sandniggers", and I felt that was wrong. I couldn't stand bigotry against arabs. There was a lot of prejudiced attitudes against arabs in the chatroom.

Niger sextile my Ascendant indicates that my black ancestry is evident in me, and so that leads to some people calling me "nigger"

also...some blacks that can tell that I am black might call me "nigga" as some type of brotherhood thing even though I don't like that. That's happened to me more than once, and I don't like it. There was even a white guy that was into black culture that called me "nigga" and I didn't like that either.

Niger square Vertex/Antivertex can mean fated meetings with others that called me "nigger"
the 5th and 11th house is involved....so children and friend's could be called that. I had black friends that were called that. I could have children that are called that.

I had a hunch that Niger was in significant transits to my chart when I was called a "nigger" for the very first time which happened on my 9th birthday. My hunch was accurate.

here was a post that I did in 2007 on Eris in regards to being called the n'word for the very first time:

I remember the first time that I was called "nigger". It was on my birthday, and so that made it easier to remember. I got into an argument with a blue eyed blonde girl who lived in the same apartments and attended the same school as me. She called me "nigger". I was in shock, and I asked her what did she call me. She called me "nigger". I walked away very hurt. I was only 9 years old. That event was like the reality check of what it's like being black. It even kinda made me ashamed of being black and made me wish that I was white like my mother. They see that I have brown skin and frizzy hair with other Black features, and they can see that I am "Black"

I checked Eris
I also checked the asteroids, 11207 Black,1193 Africa,6391 Africano,8766 Niger for Blacks/African Americans

I have used the asteroid,Niger to look at race relations events in regards to Blacks....especially ones that have to do with racism. There was a grand trine of Mercury,Uranus and Niger when Michael Richards was on a racist rant, calling black men that heckled him on stage, "nigger". That happened on November 17, 2006.

Mu'Min Bey's sociological astrology focusing on race relations matters in regards to blacks/African Americans inspired my interest in sociological astrology. He is like the only black astrologer that I know that even does that. There are no books that address sociological issues and race relations issues. Heck..even the mention of interracial relationships and multiracial seems like uneasy topic for the astrological community to discuss even though I am a multiracial person who is product of an interracial relationship. I do think that these things are relevant to look at in Astrology, but these things can be too sensitive for some people. I feel that many white astrologers can get put off with astrology related to race relations matters including things on racism, black rights. Heck..there even were people that tried to make me out to be an angry black man just for posting sociological astrology in regards to Eris. Also my exgf who is white was also annoyed because of my sociological astrology in regards to Eris too. This is the same person that pointed out to me later on that black men got the vote before women did during the presidential democratic primaries when Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton were opponenets. After Reverend Wright fiasco, she said that Obama can't run the USA because he's too biased like he is only going to help black people out. That stuff really made me uneasy.

I didn't see what the big deal was about my sociological astrology posts. I was just doing astrological research and researching Eris in regards to civil rights stuff and minorities.

I extended my sociological astrology to Asteroid Sociological Astrology with the use of the ethnic asteroids to look at sociological matters. They work in my chart and the charts of relatives and friends. They have worked in events that I looked at. Therefore, I use them regularly now.

that's all I am going to say.

Peace.

Well, I've been called a black b*stard, but it was nothing to do with skin tone. It was an Irish political reference. It was an ethnic slight of a kind.

Within the average week I will meet many Nigerians, Ghanians, Jamicans, etc, lumping them all together as "black" isn't really sufficiently descriptive. As for more derogatory language, some of those guys are quite big and solid, I wouldn't go hurling insults around even if I felt inclined. Which I don't.

Eris slices into my Grand Trine to make a Kite, as far as I recall. Not sure what the asteroids do, not much time to check it out as it is late here, but good luck with the research.

I just want to point and clarify that this post was in regards to Blacks/African Americans.

That means, people of Black/African descent that are American and are descended are of Black/African

I don't want any confusion and misunderstandings in regards to darkskinned people of other countries..especially Africa.

I want to get input from people that are American with some African ancestry, especailly connected to slavery...so the descendants of African slaves, blacks that were segregation.

This is not a post about people in Africa nor Africans in other countries.

I am referring to Blacks/African Americans or people that are part Black/African American (if you're multiracial like me).

That's why I wrote about the history of Black/African descent people in USA that included civil war and civil rights movement.

i think it's more an American concept, isn't it? Europeans and Americans have a little different point of views on this sort of subjects, not restricted to the African race. Africa is a big continent with many many different countries and identities, and so as Europeans themselves. it's not "Europe" but a collection of different countries. immigrants who are from all different places all have their own experiences in each country of Europe. it's hard to frame it altogether in one, i think.

I find this fascinating.

I'm African-American, and I was raised in a family that still harbors a lot of resentment for our treatment in the past, specifically in the United States.

The most peculiar part about it all is that growing up, my parents practically removed me from the urban environment and much of my upbringing was around a predominately Caucasian or non-white demographic. Not saying that it has made me any different/better/etc., but I do notice I have a fair amount of objectivity when it comes to race matters.

I was always taught the 100% truth. Not sugarcoated, and not exaggerated either. Just the facts. I was taught to not hate anyone for it, as history is often a "read only" file- take from it what you can, for that's all you can do.

Regardless of being surrounded by people unlike me physically, I had never felt personally attacked growing up. I have always been aware of inconsistencies in treatment/perception/portrayal across racial lines, even as a child. however, I never let it truly bother me.

It angers me, yes. Racism is a foul disease, a global pandemic that pointlessly eats away at one's soul. However, ever since I was a little girl, I've been able to use that anger to fuel me to do more, BE more than what someone else thinks.

So the media portrays us as lazy, loud, and disrespectful? Ha! Well not me, I'm not like that. "All black people are poor"...Really? My parents? Not even close.

I've never been called "n", and expect to never be called that. Growing up that word was worse than the "f" word. Using it would earn you a beating far worse than one can imagine.

I've always been surrounded by people of other backgrounds. I'm a Sag Rising with a 3rd house Jupiter, can you blame me? I'm fascinated by experience of other cultures, neighborhoods, etc.

Raised in Southern New England, my accent is sharp. I'd often get accused of "talking and acting white" my entire life. I got this from family, (MY OWN PARENTS), friends, enemies, teachers, etc. From when I was 3 years old (not kidding) through today. I didn't know that articulation and proper conjugation of verbs = caucasian culture, but I'm glad I know now *sarcasm*

People of my own race tend to dislike me for appealing to the culture of the mainstream...I didn't know there was a race associated with being American. Last time I checked it just WAS. On the other hand, the white people I hang out with most often, seem to forget I'm African American and make inappropriate comments around me justifying cruel black jokes and racist comments by stating "Oh you get it cuz you're not like typical black people" or making comments like "Hey, I'm not into black chicks, but you're different...you're cute"

What the hell is a "typical" black person? When someone finds one, can you let me know?

I have the asteroid Africa at 3'59 Libra sitting right on my MC and squared by 1st house Neptune. Niger is in the 9th house but also conjunct the Ascendant within 2 degrees.

Black is at 22' Aries conjunct my NN in the 4th house

Africano at 12' Scorpio is the apex of a massive T-square... Pluto/Africano in 11th square Moon in 8th, Mars in 2nd...exactly trine my chart ruler Jupiter in Pisces

Uranus in Sag is conjunct my Ascendant and rules my 3rd house of familiar environment (I always get told I'm "different" than those of my race in every way possible"..which I disagree with by the way)...and the culture in which one was raised or most familiar with.

The ruler of my 4th (one's country, origin) is Mars in Aquarius (again disposed by Uranus)...and it is exactly opposite my Moon ('14 seconds) in the 8th. It is also closely squared by Pluto in 11th (outcasting by social groups)

Interesting to note, I'm pursuing a career in being a Professor of African American History and Experience...the MC connections are very significant. Africano is conjunct my natal Venus..which rules my MC and 6th house.

Scratch that.

The only time I've ever been called an "n" I was 4 years old.

There was pretty little white girl with blonde hair at a daycare my parents sent me to in a ritzy, wealthy town. Our names were the same. Only with a slightly different spelling- one letter.

When I told her my spelling, she said "Oh, that's the N way of spelling it"

I went home that day and begged my mother to take me to a doctor and "make me white" because I was literally shunned most of the day, by most children there because of this little skank.

Ever since then, my biggest pet peeve is when people spell my name- HER way. Like hell if I let some girl tell me something as degrading as that about the name my mother gave me. It's something I dramatically and vehemently defend this day...besides 8 out 10 people prefer MY spelling to hers anyway.

While you're at it, I suggest looking at other aspects, like how some blacks are ostracized and worse by other blacks for being too light or too dark, or who date outside their race, or are an "oreo" for being too smart. It actually surprises me because it seems some in the black community see themselves not all that differently from how white racists see them. (Though it also reminds me of school, too, where you had to be "average," and to be too slow or too fast or to violate the expected was to draw criticism and worse.)

Natch, many who are racially mixed often face ostracization in the black community. One guy, all black, told me that when he was young, Obama wouldn't even been seen as black (course Obama wouldn't be accepted by whites at the time, either). Someone very near & dear to me was called "mutt" by some for basically (oversimplifying here) being blasian, and while whites have given her all kinds of crap, she said she often found the impersonal way of it preferable to the more passionate rejection she got from both her Korean family & black community.

And then it might be worth looking at how minorities often come into conflict, both within their own communities as well as with separate minorities.

As for the Civil War, that started off as 2 corrupt enfranchised political systems came into conflict, the rest being excuses. Slavery didn't become important until later (and was peripheral to the economic interests fighting anyway). 'Course others factions were also at work...for example, the Cherokee joined with the Confederacy because they blamed Union forces for the Trail of Tears (IOW, a little karmic payback there).

But what you point out astrologically is interesting to me. I expect had the Confederacy won, slavery would've still been abolished--probably decades later (and even during the Civil War, one major Confederate politician advocated allowing all slaves to become free who joined the military), but much less violently, and with no KKK rising up (at least it would forever stay in the fringe) without the end of slavery being a symbol of defeat & carpetbagging.

Actually, given how slavery was disappearing globally (save ironically in Africa itself, by locals who engaged in the trade, some who do to this day), the South (speaking only in practical terms here) was foolish in the extreme to even resist that change. If they'd continued to be stubborn, they'd probably have been boycotted out of existence (with more & more violent slave revolts destroying them from within if the rest of the Americas are any indication of what would've happened).

Even Mexico had abolished slavery before the Confederacy was formed. It was a minor point that helped to set off the Texas Revolution with Mexico refusing to recognize slavery, and rarely even having their forces liberate slaves owned by the Anglo-Texians (yes, that's spelled right).

Heck, Sam Houston fought against slavery and other forms of racial injustice himself quite passionately, and while he suffered much for his crusades, he had just enough support in the local military & government to not get imprisoned or killed over it. Though he nearly lost his life along with his political career after he refused to endorse the Confederacy (but even he didn't see slavery as THE issue at the time he announced to an armed mob that he would have to resign his office rather than support the Confederacy).

I am black, (I guess chocolate would best describe my skin tone) and have been called "nigger" several times. I laugh everytime though because the person yelling it is a retard.

I have experienced indirect racism that angered me too. Won't get into any experiences but me personally, I am not racist. I like people plain and simple. Heck, i'm a triple air! Just look at my sig! Very social person here!

Hey I just want to thank you all for the responses and feedback.

looking forward for more.

I also want to leave with a song that I love that expresses how I feel about race relations. The guy is a Jamaican rapper. hmmm...my mom told me that I have Jamaican roots on my paternal grandfather's side. Actually, she even said that my paternal grandfather was from Jamaica. and no...I have never worn dreadlocks. hahahaha

I wrote this poem in 1997 when I was still in the navy. It was motivated by my idealism stemming from my life as a multiracial person. I didn't know anything about Astrology at the time. Therefore,I wasn't aware that I had Moon in Pisces square Jupiter-Neptune in Sagittarius in 3rd which I was obviously expressing. I didn't know that actually my father, who shared the same idealism as me, had Sun in Capricorn,Moon in Pisces like Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. It was published in the Diego Garcia navy base newspaper.

U N I T Y

Unity is our ultimate goal
for we are the same
underneath our skins
that come in many colors.
Remember our blood
is the same color.
So keep that in mind.
Don't throw away the dream
which is unity.
There are no separate races
for there is only one race,
and that is the Human Race.
We are all created equal
because we are all human beings,
and so we should unite
on our home planet, Earth.
In order for our world to survive,
we have to stop the violence
and eradicate the hate
which will ultimately destroy us all.
Eternal peace will only be achieved
through love and compassion
as we struggle to coexist.
We should love each other
for we are all related
and should be in unity.

This is an interesting topic Glaucus.
I am black or brown or whatever, lol .

So my father is 50% white, 10% Indian, and around %40 black.
My mother is 50% black, 25% indian, %25 white.

That makes me something like 38% white, 45% blk, and 17% indian or something like that.
Craziness I know.

I personally have never notice that I was racially profiled by a person of another race.
However I have been by other black people, its never really bothered me, though I do have to make an effort to over look it.
Kind of surprising when they said what they said or did what they did, but thats to be expected.
I have recently had to start taking diction classes to get rid of my "Southern" drawl.
And it has made me sound even more "white" as alot of people like to tell me. lol
I love it, just causes more confusion and breaks down more sterotypes.

We were raised around my white grandmother and a black grandfather and we were pretty close to. This just didnt leave room for racism on either end, so I was taught not to see color. And so I don't. I only see love, beauty, charisma, happiness, talent and intelligence, and those are not camoflauged by the color of someones skin.

In my chart however these asteroids figure prominently Glaucus.

I have Niger conjunct my Sun.

Negro at 12 Leo is conjunct Kaali, and opposes Africa and Africano which are conjunct at at 7 and 15 degrees Aquarius.

Wonder what those placements mean?

Here is another very interesting one, Black is conjunct My mars and exactly conjunct my Lucifer and Isis which trines my MC as well.

Interesting connections there, perhaps there is a Karmic past lived as a slave. Whatever the case there seems to be pattern here.

Glaucus.

I'm an African American female. There is a mixture of several races within my family. I am most familiar with my mom's side of the family. Her mom's side are, for the most part, very light red brown skinned while her dad's side are medium-dark red brown skinned. My mom was very light red brown skinned. My dad's side are medium-dark red brown skinned. My dad's complexion is a medium-dark red brown skinned and I'm a medium-dark red brown skinned woman.

One of the many times I've heard the N word was when some white man with black rimmed glasses cut my grandfather off and then called him the N word - my grandfather swung the car, cut that man off, jumped out of the car, the other guy got out of his car which was stupid on his part and my grandmother socked the sh*t out of him. He hit him so hard - he knocked his glasses off as his face hit the hood of his car. I was about 7 or 8.

No one really made much comment about my complexion to my face that was disrespectful but I've heard some crazy talk from time to time from several races including African Americans especially about my hair or the food we do/don't cook (a lot of a lot of cultures) or the scarves I wear on rare occassions.

I've heard crazy stories about my elders growing up which really ****** me off - I can't lie. I'll be damned. I know it was blatant 60+ years ago but no way - even after hearing their experiences I still see and experience traces of it especially on the employment tip but I've seen other "minorities" experience the same type of disgusting treatment that deserves a bird flip, a 'your mama', 'that's a damn shame' or a - 'if that were me, I'd be so fired' moments. Other races experience dark/light issues too so don't get it confused. Anyway, on the one hand, my elders' experiences really irk me bad but then on the other hand - the sense of family and community were there which an equally irked part of me yearns to see more of today so it balances each other. There are racist actions still occurring in this world and that's not a complaint - it's the truth.

I've heard the 'you speak and act "white" or "proper"' also but I don't really give a damn about that since it was my elders who stressed grammar, etiquette, and experiencing many different cultures but you can clearly tell by the way they do things that etiquette was and is important, grammar was and is important since a lot of them didn't finish school but wanted to. Experiencing the world was important to them since the world they came from thought they had tails, tasted like chocolate and a lot of other crazy things. Busting your ass was not foreign to them and so they sacraficed a lot of what they wanted to do but not everything which is why experience is a thing with my elders. Some of them are so kind, so smart, so beautiful and so nice even after everything they've been through, it's really amazing. I think the fact that there are so many people who aren't racist and/or won't tolerate it, is why the world isn't as chaotic as it could be. What if we were all physically blind?

I've grown up in diverse schools, towns, had/have a diverse group of acquaintensces, teachers, "nephews, nieces" etc. and I don't feel uncomfortable in most any situation amongst any race. I do admit nothing hurts more than another African American talking and acting crazy in a hurtful way or like I don't meet the qualifications to be African American. As I said, I am of a darker complexion to some people in my family and of course the attention, as a youngster, was on the lighter skinned children unless it had to do with some laborous chore - than the darker skinned children were told to do it instead of the lighter skinned children. It's amazing how much in-house racism goes on. That's ok - I have really REALLY good friends and family. I do feel bad for people who never got past the in-house racism and I feel bad for people who were always catered to, sheltered and what not because of their complexion then put out to fend for themselves.

I love that I'm an African American, I am proud of it and I don't mind saying that I pump my fist for African American people who are doing the damn thing. I've met and been with many interesting men of various races but as I've gotten older - I tend to be most attracted to African American men as potential mates but that doesn't eliminate every other man in the world. All in all, I'm optimistic about the future, especially of the race I'm most associated with which are human and African American / add to that, I'm a proud and protective woman who is aware and attracted to ancient customs of the many races my family is comprised of - who can beat that, right?

Here are the placements you asked us for Glaucus / good topic, thanks!:

Black in Sagittarius, 4th house, trine Mars in Leo (12)

Africano in Aquarius, 6th house, square MC/Taurus and Uranus in Scorpio(3/4), trine Pluto in Libra(2/3), sextile Neptune in Sagittarius (4), Venus in Sagittarius (4) and Moon in Aries (8/9)

Negron in Pisces, 7th house, quintile MC/Taurus, sextile Chiron in Taurus (9), Mercury in Capricorn(5), trine Jupiter in Cancer (11), Oppose Saturn in Virgo (1)

Niger in Capricorn, 5th house, trine Chiron in Taurus (9), Saturn in Virgo (1), conjunct Sun in Sagittarius(5) and Mercury in Capricorn (5), oppose Jupiter in Cancer (11)

White in Aquarius, 6th house, oppose Mars in Leo (12)

Blanco in Sagittarius, 4th house, trine AC/Leo, conjunct Neptune in Sagittarius (4), Venus in Sagittarius (4), trine Moon in Aries (8/9)

Europa in Virgo, 2nd house, trine MC/Taurus, square Venus in Sagittarius (4), Neptune in Sagittarius (4)

UN in Sagittarius, 4th house, biquintile Chiron in Taurus (9), trine Mars in Leo (12)

Babel in Aries, 9th house, trine AC/Leo, Saturn in Virgo (1), Mercury in Capricorn (5), Sun in Sagittarius (5), sextile Jupiter in Cancer (11)

Very interesting indeed.

My mother is french creole.

So somewhere, someone in her family is black. No one is telling who. Tracing my family tree has been a nightmare.
The theory is that my mothers grandmother had a child with a black man in Lousiana.
Don't know who he was, I'm thinking the family disowned her and the man was either fun off or left. I don't know for sure.

People have asked me if I was mixed since I was a child. I was called n*gger lips all through school. But I have the last laugh now because people have to get expensive injections to get their lips to look like mine already do.
I also have excessive, uh, junk in the trunk, so to speak.
I think I look Italian and Native American, but if people think I'm mixed, it's no sweat to me. I'm proud of my heritage no matter what it is.

I’m getting lazy, so I’ll just re-post part of what I did in the inter___ dating thread and add to it:

Everyone has such an interesting background and experience (I love discussing race relations!)...

I get asked the most annoying questions: “What are you?” “Are you from one of the Islands?” “You look, uh, Polynesian…?” “Are you mixed?” “Are you part Asian?” “Is that your real hair?” "Can I touch your hair?" “Are you Latina? You look Latina.” People will randomly start speaking Spanish to me (at least I know a little!), when I put the first picture of myself online about 11 years ago I got a flood of emails from guys in India, a stylist who did my eyebrows said to me “Is your father Asian? You have Asian eyes” (she knew my mom), my sister calls me her “Hawaiian sister”.

I have light skin, very high cheekbones, sloe-eyed and med-long thick hair (that grows like a weed) so that raises some (unnecessary) questions.

I am black. I don’t go into my entire family tree because really it is not the random person on the street’s business and it is kind of obnoxious to have to explain. My mother is mixed – she is half white (Irish and German mother), half black (Afr.Am and Blackfoot NA father) and my dad is black (Afr.Am. father and black Creole and NA mother).

Back to the dating though: I think it has a lot to do with where and how you grew up. My entire family, both sides, is rural or suburban. I don’t have any relatives that “act black” in that very racist and stereotypical way that people like to categorize how we act according to our race. Even on the black sides there are lots of Bohos (black bohemians), Buppies (black yuppies) and Blippies (black hippies) but really no one who fits into the stereotypical “homeboys/girls” roles. Interracial dating runs rampant in my family on both sides. I didn’t realize this until I attended a cousin’s wedding last year in upstate NY (a black man who was marrying a white woman!) and I noticed that there were so many interracial couples out on the dance floor– actually, most were of the BW/WM variety. This is even the case with my southern relatives, in Georgia, Texas and Alabama, lots of BW/WM couples. “New South” indeed!

I grew up in suburbia, listening to rock music, watching John Hughes movies (RIP), being one of three black kids in school. That was hard also - I don’t know how my divorced mom could afford to live in that school district – I was also the poorest kid in school! If anybody knows who Aisha Tyler is and has watched her comedy special – we have so much in common (Even the height thing - "Hey tiny white girls!! Come back and play with me!!”) It wasn’t until jr. high school that the school got more mixed and that is when the hell started for me. Black classmates, boys and girls, with the “you talk like a white girl”, “she thinks she’s cute”, blah, blah, bleh.

I have always been aware of race relations though, I guess that is a part of being black. Even since I was a young kid I was taught that not everybody is your friend and really “watch out for the parents”. I think I learned that lesson in kindergarten when I was supposed to go over a (white) friend’s house and right before I was about to go she said “I’m not allowed to be friends with black people”. I told my mom and she had “the talk” with me. The “talk” that precedes the sex talk by many years - black people have “the talk” about race relations and possible racism with their children as soon as they enter school (mine was a little late apparently). I think it was very important but it also made me very paranoid. Every time I was supposed to go over a white friend’s house I had to know if their parents were racists and I put it in a pretty smooth way after a while “Do your parents have any black friends?”, some kids did and some kids just told the truth “my dad doesn’t like black people” – well okay! I got my answers!

I also agree with everyone who has written about how blacks have discriminated against us more than whites (well, more out in the open anyway) . It is a small part of what is called the “slave mentality” (oh man, first “white privilege” then “slave mentality”, what am I thinking on this site?) – or “you think cuz you light and you talk right you get to be ‘in the house’”, as opposed to "the field". That is the thought process, if you get my drift (I think the “N” word has been used quite enough in this thread). Sad, but it still happens to this day!!! A black guy I worked with, who I was friends with, a couple of years ago said that I sound like I am “from the suburbs”. It was funny at the time because of what we were talking about but still, to know that he thought that, even in the professional world it never ends. Even still, in many places I am the “one woman integration system” (I forgot where I read it but I love it!).

As for placements, here it goes:

Africano in Aquarius in the 1st
trine Moon
trine Mars (grand trine Moon in 9th and Mars in 5th)

trine Pluto

Black in Taurus in the 4th
squ. White (!)
trine Negron

Negron in Virgo in the 8th
squ. Mars
squ. Neptune

White in Virgo in the 8th
Conj. NN

Blanco in Cancer in the 5th
square White
opp. Europa
opp. MC

Europa in Scorpio in the 10th
trine Venus

United Nations in Mars in the 5th
conjunct Juno (0)

trine Pluto
sextile POF

Babel in Leo in the 7th
sextile Moon
sextile Mars
trine POF
conj. Vertex
conj. Lilith
quintile Juno

*I refuse to use the asteroid referring to the country of Niger as a replacement for the N word. As someone mentioned (I think Benedict_Moon), I had the displeasure of being in a 5th grade class where this was the joke of the day and I don’t enjoy re-living that moment. (If I could pinpoint that incident I'd chart it)*

With Africano and Black in the identification houses, no wonder why when people ask I just say “I am black” and don’t go through the whole rigmarole! Europa trine Venus and UN conjunct Juno maybe I’ll get that Englishman after all!

That is another thing…it has to do with how the guys I go out with or people at work ask about my background. They will say that I am pretty and a few sentences later they will say either “you don’t look black” or “you don’t look all black”. One guy said “You don’t look black, you look Polynesian”. What, so black women can’t be pretty and “just” black? Ei, yi yi!

…And people wonder why I have the racial chip on my shoulder. I mean “you are so beautiful, smart”, etc. “why the chip?”. Until I stop hearing that I can’t be all black, questions about my hair and that I “speak so well” then the chip will remain intact. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t walk around with a raised fist but if someone says something stupid I won’t be afraid to say something about it.

There is so much more I could write, maybe I’ll save it for my “knowflake” thread…

downtomars,

I was actually waiting for you to post

hahahahaha

Thank you for your honesty and openness.

I agree

as for Niger in regards to the use of the racial slur, I respect your view on that.

As for me, I was using it because I felt that from what I have found in Astrology, it fit with the Black/African American experiences when it came to racism including being called the n'word in regards to racial slur, brotherhood. Therefore, it's part of the asteroids that I use in Sociological Asteroid when it comes race relations.

Therefore, I was seeing the asteroid from the Black/African American perspective as a person who is part Black/African.

I do have the asteroid prominent in my chart, and it was prominent in transits when I was first called the n'word. I am not even Nigerian nor had experiences with Nigerians.
Therefore that asteroid works very strongly in my life in spite of being named for a personal country, and so it's very personal to me just like other bodies that are strong in my chart. That's the case with many other asteroids in Astrology like Split and Soulie that was mentioned in another thread. It worked strongly in my mom's life too in regards to her having a son,half-siblings,friends,and relationships that were called the n'word.

some things, I feel that we have to agree to disagree on without trying to make people feel people guilty, question people's empathy, compassion, sympathy because we have different views, beliefs, and opinions on certain matters. This often tends to be the case with race relations matters because they can be so touchy and controversial.

A lot of people don't believe in Astrology. Many people...especially astronomers feel like we disrespect the planets for using them in Astrology. I feel that we forget that Astrology is not recognized by many people. It's often viewed as pseudoscience. Astrologers who charge for money are accused of being frauds that rip off peopple. I keep my Astrological practices to myself in my life. If people are into New Age/Metaphysical stuff, then I start to be open about this stuff. You won't see me discuss this stuff with mental health professionals and people that are conservatively religious.

some people even question why are the planets even named after Roman deities...why not named after deities of other cultures.
I understand people's views that the Roman/Greek mythology of the planets and using it as archetypal energies and apply that to human experience can be very insulting to people of other cultures.

not everybody on this planet agrees on everything and believes in the same thing.
we all have our opinions,views,beliefs.
We are always going to disagree on some things. Many times, it's better to agree to disagree instead of getting into the "I am right and your wrong" or the "No..that's not true..don't be such an idiot" or slam somebody's character or attack a person personally. Those are things that tend to happen a lot on our planet. It's this mentality that leads to intolerance of diversity that can be in the form of bigotry, racism, sexism, homophobia, xenophobia, religious bigotry, psychiatric bigotry, neurological bigotry, political bigotry

that's just the diversity,divergence,ideology that's connected
which I believe Eris is all about

Michael Brown gave the clue to the dwarf planet/Plutoid, Eris' meaning by noting that mythological Eris made men quarrel and fight by making them think that their opinions are right and others are wrong. Of course, he thought it was the perfect name for the object because it's discovery led to arguments among astronomers about Pluto's planetary status and what is actually a planet. The nature of it being a scattered disk object, highly eccentric, highly inclined orbit, especially not orbiting no way near the ecliptic fits with the divergence of Eris. Pluto and Ceres being equals as dwarf planets because of the discovery of Eris also is example of how Eris can be about equality. It is also likened to how Ceres/Demeter and Pluto/Hades shared Proserpina/Persephone. In fact, Michael Brown pointed out that Eris has a Persephone-like orbit for half of its time that it orbits, it orbits far away from Pluto. He even wanted to name it after Persephone, but the name was already given to an asteroid. Proserpina was also given to another asteroid.

another Eris' Perihelion (the point of Eris' orbit farthest from the Sun) is in Libra, and so that could also fit with argument that Eris is about equality.

Pluto's Perihelion is in Scorpio, and astronomers assigned Pluto as ruler of Scorpio. Maybe Eris will end up being ruler of Libra.

I have Sun oppose/conjunct heliocentric Eris Nodes in Taurus/Scorpio in 8th/2nd with 10 minutes of arc.
I have Eris in Aries R in 8th sextile Midheaven with 1'01 orb
I have Mercury in Scorpio in 3rd biquintile Eris with 6 minutes of arc.

Diversity, divergence is major theme for me when it comes to race, but also neurological and sexual hormones.

LOL Glaucus I wanted to get my thoughts together since the last racial thread was so controversial! I forgot about Eris. I think I keep forgetting it because I don't completely understand it:

Eris in Aries in the 3rd
conj POF
conj Ceres
trine Jupiter
trine Neptune (forms grand trine from the 11th with Jupiter in the 7th)
opp Pluto
sextile Juno
sextile United Nations

GypseeWind,

I met a guy in Houston, darker than many blacks, but he was offended if you called him black. He said he was a "Frenchman," and he was apparently Creole or Cajun or some such from Louisiana.

Yeah...my father was from Louisiana...born in New Orleans and raised in Lake Charles.
My mom told me that his mother was Creole.

From what I am told Creole is a mixture of french, native am, and black.

Anne Rice writes alot about this in her books since she was from and lived in New Orleans most of her life.

I think it is something like the french mated with Haiitians? maybe, I'm not sure, exactly, wait is it San Domingue or something like that, can't think sorry, and then they immigrated to New Orleans. Not sure where the American Indian part comes in. Maybe Glaucus would know if it is in his family tree as well.

"From what I am told Creole is a mixture of french, native am, and black."

that's what my mother told me that my paternal grandmother was. She even remarked that I have high cheekbones connected to the Native American in me from my paternal grandmother's side of the family.

Native Americans were the first Americans ,and so occupied Louisiana.

The Spanish visited later on. Then the French did, and they laid claim and it became a French colony.

Emperor of France, Napoleon sold Louisana and other French American territores in the United States to the Americans in 1803 That was called the Louisiana Purchase. That was like 1/3 of the United States. Therefore, that was a very pivotal event in American history.

Of course, Black slavery was common in those territories, and so a lot of mixing with Blacks in those areas.

Being a southern state, Louisiana was part of the Confederacy during the Civil War. It had slaves until the Union (the northern states) won the War.

many Black/African Americans are actually a trihybrid of Black,White, and Native American.

Therefore,I don't believe that multiracial people is 1.7 percent of the American population. I believe that it's way more than that.

any ways...Creole is referring to a culture. It doesn't necessarily mean French,Black mixture. There can be White Creoles just as there are Black Creole. That's why I referred to my paternal grandmother as Black Creole before.

Louisiana is home to many, especially notable are the distinct culture of the Creoles and Cajuns.

Creole culture is a cultural amalgamation that takes a little from each of the French, Spanish, African, and Native American cultures[34]. The Creole culture is part of White Creoles' and Black Creoles' culture. Originally Créoles referred to native-born whites of French-Spanish descent. Later the term also referred to descendants of the white men's relationships with African or African-American women, many of whom were educated free people of color. Many of the wealthy white men had quasi-permanent relationships with women of color outside their marriages, and supported them as "placées". If a woman was enslaved at the beginning of the relationship, the man usually arranged for her manumission, as well as that of any of her children.

Creoles became associated with the New Orleans area, where the elaborated arrangements flourished. Most wealthy planters had houses in town as well as at their plantations. Popular belief that a Creole is a mixed Black/French person came from the "Haitian" connotation of an African French person. There were many immigrants from Haiti to New Orleans after the Revolution. Although a Black Creole is one type of Creole, it is not the only type, nor the original meaning of Creole. All of the respective cultures of the groups that settled in southern Louisiana have been combined to make one "New Orleans" culture. The creative combination of cultures from these groups, along with Native American culture, was called "Creole" Culture. It has continued as one of the dominant social, economic and political cultures of Louisiana, along with Cajun culture, well into the 20th century. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Louisiana

I know I said I was taking a break but, while gathering the books I want to give away I came across a copy of Jupiter Signs by Madalyn Aslan. I looked up my Jupiter in Leo and one of the “Don’ts” was “…Forget your racial inheritance and aspire to be who you aren’t”…..Never Madalyn, Never…
