A reason this could be true is that women tend to be more nurturing than men. The Moon is our emotional nature, which is just as hungry to give as it is to receive. When we're giving support and care, we're giving from our Moon. So our Moon's personality will be apparent when we're in supportive/nurturing mode. IP: Logged |

do we really tho? i mean, how much is innate and how much learned?personally i LOVE my pisces moon and spend a lot of time there. but i am definitely a leo!! and identify more with that core... i am not so sure pisces is really nurturing even as the moon, neptune is just so good at wisking one away when the ugly stuff pops out!! and yet we really do KNOW that all is one... and leo, well she will nurture you if you are her cub or if you give her your admiration in return...but it is not her god given sovereign tendency to do so!! of course my cancer and virgo placements ARE very nurturing in a roundabout sort of way! I have a Gemini sun and a Capricorn moon. People often think I'm a Capricorn or a Scorpio (my chart ruler is Saturn in Scorpio). I have no idea if I'll become more like a Gemini once I'm 30. IP: Logged |

kat -Good question. I dunno. I lean towards women focusing more on others' needs within the social world, so therefore living more often from their Moon. That's a generalization I see, but I'm not attached to it. I don't mean nurturing in a "sit back baby and let mommy take care of you" way. I mean that the Moon is a part of ourselves that we want to give to others. It's our contribution, not to aggrandize ourselves (the Sun) but to support others. Usually when I read about the Moon, the focus is on how the Moon describes what the native needs to receive. A Taurus Moon needs to feel secure, an Aries Moon needs excitement, a Gem Moon needs fun and conversation, and so on. But after one of the worst fights I had with my SO a few years ago, it dawned on me that just as much as receive, the Moon wants to give. If you deny the Moon's opportunity to give to you its gifts, a person will feel the deepest rejection possible. A Libra Moon needs to give a balanced perspective. A Leo Moon needs to give warmth. A Cap Moon needs to give commitment and reliability, and so on. When I look at people with this perspective, their Moon becomes very obvious to me, and their Moon sign screams at me when I see them in giving mode. I was reminded of the Moon as giver again recently. I had a bad cold, was sounding like Demi Moore after a weekend with Cheech and Chong. And for some reason I was stuck in 80s references. Eventually, my voice rasped its way straight to nonexistence. I was working and a colleague said, "I'll be your words." I already knew that her Moon was exactly cnj my Mercury. So it occurred to me that her Moon was giving me my Mercury. IP: Logged |

kat -lol, oops. I see now that your first line was likely about the op. I thought you were asking if women were more nurturing. Sorry, I've been off all day. IP: Logged |

People ALWAYS see my Mars in Capricorn in the 8th house! This is the chart influence that comes out and shakes people's hands......"Oh, you're soooo organized!" "You are quite detailed!" "I wish I has a memory like yours!" "My friend here, goes by the book and is a high achiever!" "Geeeeesh! You could become a researcher with all the things you like to look up and study!" "My, you're quite resourceful and well connected to community resources!"I'm not sure when my Sun in Aries comes out - maybe when I go up on stage to tell jokes or sing different songs at karaoke each week. My friends like to throw me into the leader position where I have to decide what to do when it comes to outings. They seem to look to me for guidance. My guard is up and I am aloof - could be my Saturn in the 12th where I don't want folks to see my softer side. I hide away from the world my sensitive Cancer Moon and those who know me well can see it. "Oh, you're so sensitive!" But that is for the people closest to see, like I had mentioned. Venus in Pisces square to Neptune can also be hypersensitive as well. I have Gemini rising and that shows my great interest in many things and it shines out my intellectual side. They say I look like a boring librarian - all quiet and mellow. Boy did my boyfriend get a BIG shock when he started to get to know me. I wasn't all that I appeared to be on first meeting - I have an Aqua MC and I have read that it is hard to shock an Aquarian (My boyfriend). Out of the lady friends that I have, most of them have an Earth or Water Sun sign. I know a few who have Suns in Fire or Air - but they are usually out on their own adventures! My oldest girl is a Gemini with a whole bunch of Cancer Planets - I see her Cancer planets come active most of the time and the scatteredness of her Gem Sun. So, no for myself, I don't see the Cancer Moon stuff come out. Even though it is a very strong Moon and well placed in the 2nd house or is it the 3rd house. My moon just straddles that 3rd house cusp. My Capricorn Mars truimps my Moon in Cancer. Cynn IP: Logged |

I think my moon gets overpowered by all those RX planets in my first house..especially Saturn in the first house in person. But when I am writing, doing art or typing Im Pisces Moon all the way lol. IP: Logged |

Hey cynnared: I have mars in capricorn 1 degree in the 8th house and I'm the same exact way. Natural born investigator, almost OCD with the organizing and cleaning and all the things you named. The one thing that is the worst is my temper! I'm definitely a slow burner (taurus rising) but hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. When I was younger, I used to do some devious things when crossed but of course I've matured. IP: Logged |

Same here on the Mars - 2' Capricorn..(lol @ researcher.. I'm a researcher myself - doing my PhD atm) But my Moon is in Cap anyway.. lolCyn - I DO see Aries in me though. A Capricorn Mars can be extremely cautious.. and I know I'm not *that* cautious.. I have some Arien courage in me for sure. Would you say you're "braver" than other people you know with this Mars? I have a theory, and that's that we express the planet that rules our Sun sign as easily/subconsciously as we express our Ascendant. Maybe that planet even *colors* the sun a bit.

Cappy1277 - I had a horrible temper and I am a redhead. Things used to go flying around but then I soon realized that I am responsible for any damages. That was a very long time ago. Now to deal with anger and frustration, I use comedy - sarcastic dark and dry humor to help me get through it all. Vapor-lash - I get told that I am brave with what I do, hobby wise. I just look at it as something new to try out. I'm humble and modest and don't do a whole lot of horn blowing. Benedict Moon - Your theory has truth to it, from what I have observed. Hmmmmmm I'm a Gemini Riser with introverted communication. I don't talk a whole lot at first and seem to reflect upon what is said. I usually get an earful from folks who think I didn't speak up. But I put a lot of thought in what I say and when I talk it's important. Both ruling planets are found in Earth signs and I have been described as down to earth. I have a lot of earth in my charts - even planets in the "Earth Houses". My some people play out their elements more when interacting with others..just another thought. Cynn IP: Logged |

BM -Good theory! Works for me. Jupiter rules my Sun. I do often find myself living from Jupiter when in the social world. It plays out that way probably because it's in an air house grand trine that includes Venus, is in my 11th house, and = my Venus/Asc mp. For relationships of all kinds, I'm comfortably excited when there's contact with my Jupiter because it's from there that I'm naturally drawn to relate. IP: Logged |

Same thing with me cynnared. I stopped breaking things when I became on the hook for them. Not a redhead but I terrify people with my temper. I have gotten better- maybe its maturity or the meds or both. Lol I think that's the general concensus when it comes to capricorn mars (its exalted in cap). I haven't seen anything else different when it comes to that. IP: Logged |

CrazyAquarian - I wouldn't say that about Mars in Cap. Some of us have bad tempers. I'm a Sun in Aries, so my sun sign stuff comes out.I don't have a bad temper now......It goes underground now and I just wait my time. Here is a funny story. I used to work in a homeless shelter and at times I had to be firm with the clients when they would step out of line -like beating up the vending machine cause it "stole" their change. A few months later, the resource counsellor comes up and says "I've had a few guys in my office saying not to anger you!" I laughed my head off when I heard that. It was so funny. My daughter has moon conj mars in cancer and she has a bad temper. Things go flying around here and she can be really destructive. Opposite mars signs here and we are battling at one point or another. The anger/bad temper thing I think depends on the individual. IP: Logged |

Even deeper than that: Like I said before, I have a Cancer Sun but a Virgo Moon conjunct Lilithx3 which seems to sober some Cancerian qualities such as expressiveness.

My Mom has Mars in Capricorn, and she has a bad temper, but her Mars is way out of bounds in the declinations. That might a big indicator and not the Mars in Capricorn.Raymond ------------------ "Nothing matters absolutely; the truth is it only matters relatively" - Eckhart Tolle IP: Logged |

I have mars in cap and I have a bad temper so I was wondering if that added to it, but I'm not so sure it's obvious I tend to hold it back and then explode, well that's gotta be my scorp moon lol WATCH OUT!! ------------------ ~Believe~ IP: Logged |

My gemini moon allows me to give people a hell of a tongue lashing. My mouth can be out of control sometimes when my temper is flared. Sun in 9th house so definitely take on some sag qualities with my moon in the first house. I've also noticed that when people have moon in the 1st house, tempers and emotions can be magnified. Two of my sons and friends have that and its like war when their emotions are high. IP: Logged |

This is so not true, so obvious of sex stereotyping. I know lots of men who are so like their moon and not at all like their sun and vice versa with women. It's all about position when it comes to strength, ie house position and aspects. I'm a female libra sun and cappy moon square saturn. I am a vain, self indulgent, lazy, irresponsable party animal, lol! Does this sound like strong cappy traits?IP: Logged |

Someone needs to chill! And no it's not sex stereotyping. The Moon is represented by femininity, emotions and the mother. So it could very well be more obvious in a female. And ironically you sound like a angry Capricorn LOL A Libra would be more pleasant about it......unless your scales are unbalanced right now.------------------ ~Believe~ IP: Logged |

Once upon a few years ago I was seeing this Aquarian guy with a Cancer moon. He was very very cancerian like to me and I felt extremely smothered - My Aries Sun wanted to escape from that. I had told him that I wanted to spend some time by myself and he got very insecure and wanted me to spend almost every night at his place.Usually, I find SOME Aquarians are no into a commitment - like my first Aquarian true love back in the 90's. But then this guy had a whole lot of Saggy in his chart too.... I know a Scorpio man with a Cancer Moon and All I could pick up on was his moon. I thought the Cancer moon to Cancer moon connection was good with men,but I have now decided that it isn't good cause my Aries Sun seems to feel smothered by the cancer stuff. My man now, has a nice Aries moon and we are in tune with each other......... Age withheld. IP: Logged |

I'm the same with Cancer Moon. I don't feel comfortable.. I can't really connect. It's too much emotion for me. I feel like I'm drowning.I thought that was the Cap 2 Cancer opposition.. since my Moon is in Cap. But Cyn, it's interesting because your *own* Moon is Cancer and you still feel this way. IP: Logged |
