Is this true? This mean that a females moon sign is more obvious than their sun? Does it depend on the specific sign?

Hi! Not for me.. Both are prominent.. Aries sun - Capricorn moon (also Capricorn mars and Neptune).
I couldn't pick one really - I see characteristics of both in my nature.

:edit: to add.. both are prominent but neither fits a typical description. They make sense in my interpretation of the signs.. For example I see my mother as a professional woman (Cap Moon).. I do NOT at all see her as cold. She's too warm, she never stops hugging me lol.
So ya - specially Cap Moon crap - is a load of poo, I don't pay attention to it.. I have my own interpretations.

I have capricorn sun, merc and mars, taurus rising with a gemini moon. I definitely feel my moon more. I talk too much too fast and I always have to be communicating.I always have to be on the move and am hyper. An astrologer told me that after thirty, a woman will "sit" on their moon but before 30 they'll be more like their sun.

for me I would say yes. Most of those astrologically aware do not perceive my Libra Sun, my Moon is in Sag & I'm to busy laughing my ass off to try & make a decision.

I think when I have my true nature--my Sun is more prominent. When I am struggling with my identity--my moon is more prominent.
IOW, at times when I have felt centered in myself, I feel more connected to the Sun energy. When I struggle with insecurity and self doubt ,I feel more connected to the moon energy.
Sun is in Gemini and Moon is in Cancer. Ami

But if your moon had a stronger impact on you then wouldn't you not have a hard time making a decision......

I'm a cancer sun/ capricorn moon/ taurus asc and Leo venus.
For people that don't know me well, I think it's a combination of my capricorn moon and leo venus. Somehow they get the idea that I'm vain, serious , self-involved and self-confident. I've got that quite a lot of times, especially from men.
Once they get to know me well, my cancer sun makes an appearance and see that I'm really not like that.
When I get drunk, however, I'm my leo venus all the way. hehe

The only thing i might have from my cancer sun, mercury and mars is mood swings every 3 or 4 seconds and i love cooking!

No.

The overriding assumption is that women are more emotional (when in fact we are socialized to cultivate and express our emotions more than men... sad really) and that's why things like "WOMEN EXPRESS THEIR MOON/VENUS!!" pop up in astrology.

I am an Aquarius Sun. For the longest time I had a problem tapping in to my emotional nature. Aquarius doesn't like emotions, it likes logical detachment in order to stay objective. It wasn't until I got into Astrology that I was able to figure out what my Moon was all about.

An astrologer told me that after thirty, a woman will "sit" on their moon but before 30 they'll be more like their sun.

Me: Leo-Sun in the 12th.
Authority behind the scenes.
This house is a subconscious realm, self-undoing, a place we don't see.
The self-undoing part of the 12th house comes from not accepting who we are on the inside.
Till my thirties I struggled a LOT, not seeing that this behind-the-scenes-feeling, where I was figting against, was PART of me. As society couldn't accept ME I couldn't accept MYSELF - till then I was blind for what society made of me.
Afther the very BIG struggle I had no choice than accept myself. But with that acceptance I couldn't accept society anymore (self-undoing!), and I never will accept! So, what did I lose or what did I win? I lost staying ONLY with and within myself - the confusing part that almost made me crazy.
I did win the big picture that gave me the structure I needed so badly.

I'm not the 12th Leo-Sun that's fighting against its nature anymore, I flatly refuse (no choice).
So, am I sitting on my Scorpio-Moon in the 3rd right now?
Ofcourse I was always hanging on there, during the extreme struggle-period I constantly bit in my own tail with the most deepest thoughts that pushed me again and again back to the start, the right-now-moment - every deepest thought seemed so useless at the end.

VISION!

Ofcourse, life will always be a struggle, no matter what.

my mother has Sun in Gemini and Moon in Scorpio

I see the Moon in Scorpio big time in her
so much so that I accurately guessed that she had Moon in Scorpio not long after I found out about my Moon in Pisces which helped erode my skepticism of Astrology.
When I was reading about Scorpio mother in the Scorpio Sunsign book, I felt that I was reading about my mother even though she has Sun in Gemini.

Also she has only the Sun in Gemini. She has lots of water. She also has Ascendant,Mercury,Venus,Jupiter,Uranus, and even the South Lunar Node in Cancer. She also has Saturn in Scorpio.

Her unusually strong water dominates her chart. Even her Sun is in 12th house trine Neptune, and so she has Sun-Neptune double whammy ...like Sun in Pisces, and then some. Which correlates with my Moon in Pisces square Neptune in how I experience my mother as extremely Piscean-Neptunian with major emotional, sensitivity boundary issues.

also her Sun is sextile and parallel Pluto, and so she has Sun-Pluto bilevel. Therefore, her Sun is very Plutonian-Scorpio like too. She has Pluto parallel her Mercury,Venus,Jupiter, and Ascendant. So she has Pluto aspecting all her Cancer stuff except for the South Lunar Node.

She actually has Sun,Neptune,Pluto in minor grand trine with 2 corresponding midpoint pictures.

Her transneptunian dwarf planet candidate/plutino Orcus is in Cancer and is only 10 minutes conjunct her Ascendant. That also can indicate a highly intense, ultrasensitive person.

just her aspects alone reflect her ultrasensitive, intense, emotional personality

Being her son, I am the same way. I have inherited my traits from both her and my father. They were actually very similar to personality, and so they attracted each other.

Even though I am male, I feel that I strongly identify with my Moon in Pisces which was the same moonsign as my father and maternal grandfather. Maybe it's because my Sun trines my Moon. My Neptune aspects all my personal planets, except for the Sun which is in opposite to Sedna which seems like a more otherworldly Neptune. My mom always told me how much I remind her of my father even though I never knew him. My father had a stationary retrograde Neptune. Even without the Moon in Pisces, he had an indicator of extreme sensitivity.

I definitely don't like being pinned down as one zodiac sign just like I don't like being pinned down as one race. I like people to acknowledge my whole chart and not just my Scorpio.

Libra moon, usually im in 2 minds about everything, constantly weighing up everything. Always want the fairest outcome, can't stand confrontation but then there's my Cancer sun that's on the cusp, so that duality is double whammy, as well as being too cerebral, especially about emotional things. It does make me very social though and I'm very much the people person, love the social scene.

My mental state is connected to my emotions and vice versa. When i was 16 and in psychotherapy, my shrink said one of my major problems was that feeling my emotions was too painful of an experience because of how volatile and intense they were, so i intellectualise and process them instead

Diablo,

How are your Moon and Mercury aspected?

Not too badly, i think. Mercury in cancer, but thats the only planet in cancer that's actually in the house its belongs in lol.

My Moon squares Mercury (cancer) & Mars (cancer), but trines Jupiter (Aquarius) and has a sextile with Uranus (Sagittarius).

Mercury has not too bad aspects, it has a sextille with Venus and trine with Saturn, although it does have a square with Pluto (Scorpio). My words have always been the most powerful thing about me, very persuasive etc, debating was something i was pretty good at in high school and i guess the square with Pluto shows that I'm not afraid to talk about subjects people think are better left unsaid. My opinions are pretty left wing and controversial.

In my younger days, my mouth would get me in some pretty big trouble..now that i've grown up half the struggle has been learning how to communicate effectively and learning to express. The one thing that helped the most (apart from studying psychology and counselling) was Don Miguel Ruiz's, The Four Agreements. After reading about the 2 rules about being impeccable with your word and not taking things personally, my whole manner of speech changed and its taken a few years of practise but i think i may have it kind of right now in my mid-20s

Moon square Mercury alone can indicate the conflict between emotional processes and thinking processes.

My mother has Moon trine Mercury, and that aspect alone can indicate her emotional processes and thinking processes strongly affect each other.

btw..I don't believe that there is any such thing as good aspects nor bad aspects.

Cosmobiologists actually use only the conjunction, opposition, square, semisquare, and sesquiquadrate when looking at charts. They see those aspects as the event-oriented aspects. Those are the only aspects use with midpoints too.

That would definitely be my problem then, moreso in my younger years. As my Moon is in my 7th house of relationships and Mercury is in my 4th house of family, thats where the conflicts b/w the 2 occur. To the rest of the outside world, I'm cool, calm and collected and always operate on the basis of logic and reason (could be my mars & sun living in Gemini's house)

This is a valid point if you take into consideration the fact that women are yin and men are yang therefore you could say women are more attuned to their lunar sign. Although I can see the qualities in a Man's lunar sign, it usually takes longer to really notice it and someone kind of emotional connection probably helps to really expose a man's lunar qualities.

Looking at someone's lunar sign is just half the process to really understanding their emotional nature; aspects are what really show the true nature.

Pisces is my Moon sign and it is quincunx my Sun square my Asc. ruler Jupiter and sextile Neptune and trine Pluto. Sun-Moon aspects really conflict with expressing the self and the moon sign as well...

It might be true for me personally since I'm a Cancer Sun (moon's natural sign). I have a virgo moon conjunct 3 Liliths and I've been told I'm emotionally flat/scary/intimidating way too often....but thats with people I'm on a acquaintance basis with.
