Yes jane, its harder for women to defend purselves because we are physically weaker in general. Probably why it is harder for a woman to rape a man and why ot is less rare (ignoring socialization factors in our society). IP: Logged |

amowls -Right, that's why I think fighting back is only half the battle. Not putting up with any sh1t helps send the message that men shouldn't hurt us, but we won't really be safe until they believe that message themselves. I've been talking about this issue today with a lot of the men in my life. Their views made me fall deeply in love with them! IP: Logged |

I was thinking about the whole sexual enticement as power thing and I'm wondering where we draw the line between a power play and simply expressing our Venus. So what if a woman likes to dance sexy or kiss other women to turn on guys. What's the big deal? Why does that indicate no self-esteem or a hunger for power? A friend of mine recently confessed to me that she loves when men's heads turn to look at her when she enters a room. She was sheepish, embarassed by her own vanity. Why should she be? I'm not denying that for some women Venus is about power. But it's hard to tell from the outside. For many (most?), it's about being her Venus and being recognized as that. Guys like to show off their Mars. They always try to throw a better spiral when they know women are watching. Admit it, guys! So if women flaunt their Venus for guys, why is that such a bad thing? Why does it become some ugly power play when we can express other parts of ourselves w/o that connotation? If someone connects Venus with power, it's probably from their own Scorpio and Pluto-Venus aspects. Guys with those aspects may be more likely to interpret female Venusian behavior as being a power play, when from the woman's pov it's really not. This has helped explain a few Venus in Scorpio guys I've had problems with in my life. IP: Logged |

I agree Jane. I've never seen why being a "sl*t" was considered a bad thing. Like, why does it matter if you've slept with a lot of people? Further more, what is "a lot"? Why does it matter if you wear "sl*tty" clothes? If you've got it, flaunt it, right? People just like to make others feel ashamed either because they are too scared to act this way or they want to make themselves feel superior or both. And the most insidious thing to me is that the standards for men and women are different. THAT'S why this gets me so riled up. IP: Logged |

Well, sometimes skanks can be just plain nasty. I think it's a taste thing. Some values, behaviors, and appearances will seem more attractive and right to us than others. With a Cap Venus, I'm not really drawn to Ho Couture. But if someone else is, fine by me.I think we also often sense a psychological problem underneath the s1uttiness, whether it be low self-esteem or power hunger. But many women who showcase their sexuality don't have those issues, and vice versa. IP: Logged |
