Hey Belgz... Don't discount those 3 planets you have in Sagittarius. I also have those 3 planets in Sadge and I find that they flavor my personality quite a bit. To say that you don't have any Sagittarius is inaccurate. Inner planets aren't the only ones that count.

You also have a 9th house moon, so that will add to the Sagittarius vibe. It's not surprising that you enjoy traveling actually.

In any case... I feel that there are many types of freedom. Being able to leave the country every five seconds doesn't mean that you're free. If anything, there is a danger in being tied to an "image" of freedom.

Just my 2 cents...

Exactly....it has many different meanings. To me, freedom is a state of mind before anything else.

first and foremost cancer LOVES travel. the call of the seafaring soul is very strong, and they carry their homes on their backs so it is not so strange that you would love travel as a cancer.

second you have moon and NN in air in a FIRE house, venus in fire and jup/uranus in sag.

third your IC is fire...

so just wondering why you say you are "ALL WATER" - you're nothing of the sort!!

but travel doesn't necessarily bring freedom; it is a state of mind, as lara said, and most of the aquas and sags i know not only have this PERMANENT sort of freedom, but they have ended up living thousands of miles from home. so whether they are still travelling or not is kind of moot!

in fact truly independent minds may have LESS need for physical travel than those who are feeling trapped by their home environment. as they say, you really can't run away just by leaving...

George Michael is a Cancer and he wrote "Freedom."

What was William Wallace?

How you live sounds very Sag/Aqua, belgz and your chart shows that influence.

You have your SN and IC in Sag. That's a huge influence on the mindset and behaviors that come naturally to you. Sag is a big chunk of who you are at heart.

Their ruler, Jupiter, is in Sag. That's the only planet in your chart that is placed in its own sign, making the planet and sign super strong for you. Jupiter forms a square with your Venus, bringing its mindset to your relationships and pleasures.

Plus, as has already been mentioned, your NN is in your 9th house. So from both sides (South and North), you have a Sag influence.

For daily living, check out that Aqua 6th house. That shows your preference for an unconventional lifestyle. Its ruler is in Sag cnj that pumped up Jupiter of yours.

I think you're right that the way someone lives - the actions they take - depends on far more than just the Sun sign. A Sag or Aqua may be a homebody living a conventional life. Their chart would show why their Sag or Aqua self lives in that type of world.

Belgz, your sun and merc are technically in your 11th house. A lot of times people say they have traits of another sign and I almost always see they have planets in that signs house.

As far as what freedom is, to me it's not a lack of commitments or burdens. It's about commiting yourself to what is personally true and meaningful for you and seeing all others as having that same right.

Here are Aquas and Sags that fit the "freedom" stereotype:

William S Burroughs (wrote Naked Lunch) has an Aqua stellium (Sun, Mercury, Jupiter, Uranus, Venus) and is Aqua Rising and he was hugely influential in the beat movement.

John McAllion is an Aqua Sun, Sag Rising. He's a member of the Scottish Parliament for the Scottish Socialist Party.

Johnny Rotten is an Aqua (Sag Mars) and the lead singer of a punk band (really big on the whole "anarchy in the UK" thing).

Germaine Greer, one of the most significant feminists in the 20th century is an Aqua Sun/ASC.

Rosa Parks is an Aqua Sun, Merc and Uranus.

Anyway, I googled all of the "radical" thinkers I could think of and if they didn't have Aqua or Sag Suns, they had Aqua or Sag ASCs and Moons, or they had prominent 9th/11th houses or Jupiter/Uranus.

I hope this is satisfactory.

other aquas and sags

yoko ono - 40 years ahead of her time(aqua)

malcolm mclaren - manager of the sex pistols (speaking of john lydon) and situationist/anarchist supreme(aqua)

keith richards - sag and world-travelling law unto himself(sag)

and let's not forget our own brad pitt, certainly a traveller and despite his hollywood face, well outside the box.

Yoko made weird annoying singing popular before Bjork was a twinkle in her Daddy's eye.

Plus she posed naked at a time when you only did that if you had a playboy body.

I think there is something "unlife like" about her too, but I see why she gets props.

Oh my......why are you being so stubborn? It obviously has to do with other parts of your chart and those sag and aquas you know. Seriously.

I like Yoko, but I wasn't alive when she was at her peak of fame so I guess I don't know that much about her. She seems to be a scapegoat, like Courtney Love (Courtney Love is a 9th house Sun/Moon btw) because people love to pick on the "odd one." I'm sure if she were a "normal" woman who fell in line, people would like her more (like Jackie Onassis, God love her, but I bet if she said a word about Kennedy's affair with Marilyn Monroe, she would've been painted as a harpy).

I never equated Sag with travel, more like philosophy and spirituality, even higher learning and politics. The travel thing is not something I see at all. They're usually hell-bent on seeing 'the big picture'.

Alan Watts - major 'thinker' and pretty out there for the time (and really up to this day) - triple or quadruple Capricorn. 1st house placements mainly.

Sometimes when someone tells you something is a certain way for long enough, you start to believe it completely and find examples of it more easily. This is what I think happens a lot with astrology. A lot of projections and even conformity. People are like 'supposed' to act like their signs or something. And when they don't by convention, then it's like 'Well it's got to be something else in the chart', and of course it is, but then the whole thing has to be looked at in broad terms anyway, so why do we even bother with this sun sign stuff in this day and age? I mean the whole notion is so outdated by itself. The descriptions are and really, if you think about it much of the reason (most) of us got into astrology in the first place is for greater understanding and to broaden our minds, so it's just kind of weird when there's still this attitude of 'let me box you into a category' going on even in something like astrology, which can be downright esoteric.

Sag is fire/mutable so it's all about roaming....hence the travel association.

Yeah, and it's ruler is Jupiter which represents expansion. I can see how travel relates to Sag. in the people I know who have it in them, me being one of them.

That might be why I feel my 9th house NN more and my Jupiter in Aqua which is in the 9th by Equal. Wouldn't the PLACEMENT of Jupiter have more to do with how it's expressed though? If it were in the 9th, I would see the travel. Jupiter tends to add weight and importance on a big scale in whatever house it's in.

Also, I know Sags who don't like to travel, so I just don't buy it. Most of them wax poetic ABOUT it, but don't always move for anything lol.
So waxing poetic about a subject does not mean one actually does it. It's like lala land, a concept.
Just like I think on neatness and organization and order are admired traits, even though I am a disorganized slob

Alan Watts has a Sag ASC, Jupiter in Aquarius lol

My whole point was that you can't just look at SUNS because someone's SUN isn't going to tell you everything about a person. I added the list of Aquas/Sags to satisfies Belgz's question about Aquas/Sags being as "freedom loving" as they are made out to be. Belgz's experience with Aquas and Sag Suns in real life leads her to suspect that that's not really true, but it must be pointed out that the Sun Sign is not necessarily the strongest sign in one's chart.
