quote: Gemini Sun with Scorpio ascendant - wow, now that's a contrast! I can see why you might feel that your Scorpio side is suppressed with Saturn conjunct your ascendant, but I think it can potentially be a source of strength. Both Capricorn and Scorpio are typically strong signs, they express it in different ways though. Also, planets in the 1st house tend to modify the expression of the ascendant since they carry the influence of the sign they rule. Moon and Mercury both in the 8th house - that sounds like balance to me. As for Pluto conjunct MC, all I can say is, if you ever plan on becoming president, I'll vote for you. To be honest, I sense mixed influences from you and from reading your posts. I could sense Gemini the most, and maybe a hyperactive side. I kind of feel that you have a strong instinctive nature that you probably learned to control, because it feels slightly conditioned. I get the feeling that sometimes you want to react in a certain way, but you pull back and repress certain parts of your personality. And you seem very receptive to the outside world, maybe to the detriment of your inner nature. That's not astrological analysts though, it's just a feeling. So I'm not sure.
Thank you, Ruben I think you are saying that I need to go within, strengthen the inner self rather than rely on the outside to tell me who I am. Is that part of what you are saying? Thank you so much for all your words. The last person to see themselves honestly is themselves lol so I greatly appreciative an honest viewpoint ! Ami PS If I could trust and rely on my instincts--I think that would heal the whole thing

You're welcome. Yes, that's exactly what I mean and I do sense a little repression. It does seem like it has something to do with the Pluto struggle you were referring to in the other thread. IP: Logged |

house is the area of lifeso "where" actually makes sense house is referring to a place an astrological house is a place in the chart that's why it's called a "house" of course, the Sun's energy expresses itself all over the place
but in the house it is in, the Sun is where it is where it mainly expresses itself
also if you include aspects from other objects , the Sun can effect the houses that those objects are in for example, My Sun is in 2nd house, and it trines my Moon in 6th house therefore,my Sun also effects the 6th house
Houses only apply to the geocentric system (Earth-Centered) and ecliptic because houses are divisions of the ecliptic plane (the path of the Sun)as seen from the Earth at the time and place of birth in question. Ecliptic longitude (zodiac sign) and Ecliptic Latitude are the ecliptic coordinates, and so houses apply to them. Equatorial longitude (Right Ascension) and Ecliptic Latitude (Declination) are the equatorial coordinates. They don't have anything to do with the ecliptic plane. Therefore, houses don't apply to them. Houses aren't used in a heliocentric system (Sun-Centered) because there is no ecliptic plane because things are being seen from the Sun.
Cosmobiologists don't even use houses, and so they don't have any confusion about houses. Houses are highly arbitrary. Babylonians invented the 12 house system. They even 16 zodiac signs before that. Marc Penfield used an 8 house system. Michel Gauquelin used a 36 house system based on decanates.

An understanding of the astrological houses is necessary to fully examine personal astrology readings. A person’s sun sign is only one facet of astrology, delving into personality and psychological tendencies. A full reading involves planets, zodiac signs, houses, and aspects.Take the time to learn all about astrology, study not only basic meanings of the various astrological components and symbols, but the deeper meanings and interpretations as well. A more involved understanding of the science of reading the stars will allow for a more useful awareness of one’s personal astrology chart, and the ability to help others interpret their own astrology readings. Learn About Astrology – Fundamentals of the Astrological Houses The astrological houses represent the sections of the sky divided into twelve parts, just like the twelve sectors of the sky represented by the zodiac signs. When looking at a chart, these two astrological ‘wheels’ are superimposed around a central axis. The astrological houses begin on the center left of the chart, like the sun rising in the east, with the first, or ascending house. The houses are positioned in counter-clockwise locations around the chart. The position of the stars at the moment of one’s birth will determine one’s personal astrology reading, with planets sprinkled in various sectors, and signs falling within the different houses. Each house corresponds with a different position in one’s life, with the first house to the twelfth house roughly representing the cycle from birth to death, from outward appearance to one’s life challenge or destiny, with money, relationships, and work in between. What the astrological houses represent is where the energy of a planet manifests in one’s life. Different Ways of Interpreting Astrological Houses There are several different ways of interpreting the meanings of different planets in the astrological houses. The most common way that astrological houses are interpreted is to view them as where a planet’s energy is expressed. The second method involves viewing the planet’s energy as a strategy that the individual can use within the sector of life that is represented by the house. The third interpretation involves literally viewing the energy of the planet as a person or event within the astrological house. The fourth interpretation involves viewing the house as the place where the planets' lessons are learned. To learn about astrology, it is important to accept that there are various ways of deciphering each component of a personal astrology report, instead of forcing a rigid explanation that does not actually pertain to an individual’s life as much as another explanation would. Even the astrological houses themselves include a spectrum of concepts, so inevitably, the interpretations vary dramatically and they can be as dynamic as each individual. Astrology enthusiasts use readings as an outlet for learning about strengths and weaknesses, and as a source of guidance for fulfilling personal truth and destiny. http://astrology.suite101.com/article.cfm/the_astrological_houses ------------------ Raymond Andrews, President,Executive Director of Developmental Neurodiversity Association Supporting the Neurodiversity Movement A Different Mind Is Not A Deficient Mind. http://www.facebook.com/#!/group.php?gid=131944976821905&ref=ts IP: Logged |

here is an explanation of how houses workIt's from Clairvision Astrology http://astrology.clairvision.org/courses/astrology_course_00100_chart_components_h ouses.html I also believe that it's important for Astrologers to know basic astronomical concepts in order for them to really grasp how houses work.

"Wow one question and apparently I don't know anything but the sun sign...."I didn't tell you that you didn't know anything but the sun sign. I answered your question, and I explained it as best as I could. I thought my original post made sense. Then I elaborated by posting some stuff that could explain the stuff much better than I can. I included videos of Astronomical lessons because it's important to understand the Astronomical concepts behind Astrology which can help a person differentiate how an object operates in a sign from how an object operates in a house. but yeah planet is what (a noun) sign is how (an adjective,an adverb) house is where (a noun) Glenn Perry PhD explained the planets, signs, houses like that in his psychological astrology books which I believe that I learned the most from. I got his books back in 1999. I had his following books which I lost. I should re-order them.
An Introduction To AstroPsychology http://www.aaperry.com/index.asp?pgid=41 Essays In Psychological Astrology: Theory & Practice http://www.aaperry.com/index.asp?pgid=25 I don't see my Sun in 2nd house as being like Sun in Taurus. I just see it as where my Sun in Scorpio mainly expresses itself. I also believe that my Sun in the constellation of Virgo also influences my self expression. The constellation, star themes of Virgo is also important in how my Sun expresses itself. Sun in Tropical Scorpio in Virgo constellation can be significantly different from Sun in Tropical Scorpio in Libra constellation.
In Heliocentric chart, my Earth is in Taurus. Therefore, the central part of my higher self is Taurean. My higher life purpose involves pertaining to being practical,earthy,security-oriented,self worth-oriented,and other things that apply to Taurus. Some believe that Earth rules Taurus, and so Earth in Taurus could actually be a domicile placement which would mean Earth in Scorpio could actually be a detrimental placement.
also to complicate things
My Sun in 5'20 Scorpio is greatly modified by a conjunction to the Geocentric South Eris Node in 5'29 Scorpio and opposition to the Geocentric North Eris Node in 5'30 Taurus, and so my self expression, vitality, ego is connected to collective evolutionary intensification, high metaphysical orientation, diversity, equality, controversy, discord. My Sun is conjunct the transneptunian dwarf planet candidate/plutino,Ixion in 5'25 Scorpio. That adds a central major theme of evolutionary intensification, high metaphysical orientation as well as its specific themes that involve 2nd chances, matters dealing with gratitude, lust, and the karmic wheel. When an object conjuncts the Sun within 17 minutes of arc, the object is in cazimi (in the heart of the Sun),and so the Sun and the object is viewed to act as one.
My Earth in 5'20 Taurus is greatly modified by a conjunction/opposition to the Heliocentric Eris Nodal axis in 5'30 Taurus/Scorpio, and so the central part of my higher self is connected to collective diversity, equality, controversy, discord. Eris. Earth is opposite Ixion in 5'25 Scorpio. So the central part of my higher self is evolutionary intensification, high metaphysical orientation as well as its specific themes that involve 2nd chances, matters dealing with gratitude, lust, and the karmic wheel. ------------------ Raymond Andrews, President,Executive Director of Developmental Neurodiversity Association Supporting the Neurodiversity Movement

I agree with Glaucus, house = where, sign = how. That's the simplest description. IP: Logged | |
