Just a theory on something I have noticed. People with Mercury different from their Sun. They talk talk talk talk like their Mercury. Then act like their Sun. And I'm like excuse me? I have have mine the same so I don't understand, but I feel this is where it could come from. I understand it's not intentional but it still ****** me off ------------------ ~Believe~ IP: Logged |

Yes - It's very different.I wouldn't call it hypocrisy. It feels more like schitzophrenia to me LOL Aries Sun - Pisces Merc. -- I see a hypocrite as one who preaches what should be done - but then goes and *acts* the opposite or very differently to what they preached. Maybe it's Mars. Mars is action. My Mars is conjunct Neptune - so I often act in a way that fits - what I speak/preach about. The schizophrenia - is more like -- my beliefs/thoughts are much more forward/aggressive/rude and blunt - than what actually comes out of my mouth - which sounds relatively "nice" regardless of my state of mind at the time. So I feel like two different people. I feel like I have to ability to be a complete bit*ch and yet choose not to - Because there's this other side of me saying - "heal the world - make it a better place" *peace*. IP: Logged |

I can think of 4 people off the top of my head who "talk" one way and actually act another. One example, my sister has Merc in Scop but Sun in Libra. She'll say some nasty things but ALWAYS wants peace, she won't say it to them just about them, well to them if she knows they won't start crap lol I remember her doing similar things to me growing up. I can't ever imagine her doing any of them. Which reminds me of another, she has Sun in Cap and Merc in Aqua square Scorpio. She keeps saying how different she is and how the things she likes are socially unacceptable and "says" shes a vegetarian when I see her wharff down meat! Then she'll ***** about others. But it's all talk, she's not like that at all. That one bothers me personally cause she "talks" like how I am, having sun and merc in Aqua and moon in Scorpio. She portrays her self like me but we are nothing alike! She may feel Aqua in her head but she definitely ain't I know that. She's all like "don't mess with me!" Biggest push over. ******* me off and her off BIG difference you'll see who you shouldn't be messing with I know it's the stars fault but Then my parent's oh god, mom sun cancer merc leo and dad sun leo merc cancer....ugh can't even begin to go there... ------------------ ~Believe~ IP: Logged |

I guess there is a better word for it. What I am saying seems more like someone "talks" or portrays them self as one way but actually is and acts another.------------------ ~Believe~ IP: Logged |

hmmm see I don't know because - I don't really "portray" myself much at all. I was just saying on another thread how Pisces Mercury is private - so in RL I seldom tell people things about myself or my personality. I let them make up their own mind.So I'm not sure if this works for me. Maybe it works better with people who have *loud* Mercuries and actually talk about themselves lol IP: Logged |

I realize you also have to take into account the aspects house placements and the two particular signs and how they work together. Maybe if they have a conjunction that would help.

Sun in Virgo in 11th Mercury in Libra 12thI'm not inconsistent as far as what I say and how I act. Maybe it is because my Sun is in a Mercurial sign and my Mercury is in a sign that demands harmony and balance. But, I don't see myself as inconsistent in what I say and what I do, at all. lol my Aquarius Mercury. Yes it does make me come off as much more random and quixotic than I feel, but I'd hardly be able to communicate in any other way -unless- I'm feeling that other planet strongly. I come off as such an Aquarius if you're talking to me, that an astrologer once said "I believe you gave me the wrong birth time, because there's no way I believe that you're a Capricorn Moon, you sound *exactly* like an Aquarius Moon" (my moon is late capricorn) lol, JUST GOES TO SHOW! I love Aquarius Mercury, it's exalted, and it's one of my favorite parts of my chart. And I love being around other Aquarius Mercuries, tho it is rare, because we get so excitable (the crazy Aquarius excitement) together and completely 'get' each other, it's great. When I'm in the zone with my Moon/Venus/Pluto, it's verrry different, i'm conspiring to seduce, no Aquarius shenanigans allowed (!) IP: Logged |

For sure, there is an emotional tone to my speech. Whenever I'm emotionally stirrer, there's usually a lot of crying when it comes time to talk. Change the subject and watch me snap back into detached Gemini mode. I can see where I'd look like a hypocrite. Funny thing is I can't control the crying, and it's quite embarrassing.Sun in Gemini, Mercury in Cancer. ETA: Mercury not Moon in Cancer. IP: Logged |

Is that so? I guess I wouldn't know since my Sun and Mercury are in Cancer. I think my sister's a BIG candidate for this, though I thought it was her sun/moon square (by sign and aspect). She has Mercury in Aqua though, with a Pisces sun. It will drive you nuts...especially in an argument. IP: Logged |

My Sun & Merc are conjunct in Sagittarius. Most of the time I do what I say, and MEAN what I say, but that can get me into trouble. IP: Logged |

i guess mine doesnt help that its a singleton aswella s in a different sign (my mercury)however, my mars is in the same sun. so i atleast do as i say and ain't a hypocrit in that. i like where my sun and mercury are anyway, my sun is in the sign where its meant to be wise, and my mercury in its own sign and in the 3rd is probably happy with that arrangement IP: Logged |

Idk, my bff is a huge hypocrite lol. She has Mercury and Sun in Cap. She'll go on and on about other people, but then she does the EXACT same things. For instance she doesn't like bisexuals because they are wishy washy, etc, but SHE is a bisexual (she calls herself a lesbian). She also goes on and on about so-called "s*luts" even though she is pretty promiscuous herself. I'm not sure what in her chart makes her like this.If there's one thing I know about Aquas, we hate hypocritical behavior. IP: Logged |

CrazyAquarian,If you want to get more into it by specifics, you could say that: As long as your Mercury sign (how you communicate) is in a different sign than your Mars (how you act) or your Asc (how you come across), then you will be a hypocrite. I don't see how much sense that would make. And I don't really see any sense in saying that Merc as different sign from the Sun could be viewed in the same vein. Mercury conj the Sun is actually not a positive aspect. It produces excessive subjectivity, they're too insular, mining over their every thought so that being objective and being able to process information as not directly relating to the self is close to impossible. If it's in the same sign as the Sun, the best would be for it to be as far away as possible. IP: Logged |

^^^I get what you mean overall, but I really don't agree with your last statement. It's almost like saying a Gemini Sun is not a positive thing to have in a natal chart at all. Not the equivalent, but very much comparable. With that statement about Sun/Mercury, your doing the exact same thing you're arguing against. IP: Logged |

"It's almost like saying a Gemini Sun is not a positive thing to have in a natal chart at all."Now you're putting words in my mouth. No, it's not saying that even slightly, simply because, Gemini/Virgo Suns have their own Mercuries. In fact, it would be very different for them because their Mercury would take on added importance, more than any other planet that rules the Sun, more than even Taurus or Libra Suns. I'm not speaking as to how Sun conj Merc = Gemini or Virgo Sun. I'm bringing it back to the energy of the Sun and Mercury in a chart. IP: Logged |

Ha. It's not "End of" No place did I say Sun conjunct Merc is not positive at all. That is up to the native, like any other aspect. By default, a close Sun Mercury conjunction is not positive. IP: Logged |

Ermmm, then what does this mean?
quote: Mercury conj the Sun is actually not a positive aspect.
If you meant that its neither positive or negative then you need to make that more clear next time instead using that phrase and making yourself look like hypocrite, in the spirit of irony.
