Is aphrodite bringing new traits compared to venus? Or venus has it all covered?

VenusDi,

Are you talking about the Asteroid?? We had a thread about it before...I cant find it!

I remember IQ saying any goddess related asteroid on Asc/Sun/Moon/Venus can modify your looks or personality (vanity) when it comes to beauty/looks.

Men with Sun conj. Aphrodite are usually quite vain & stylish.

I have Sun sq. Aphrodite exact. I remember IQ saying that effect = looks causing one problems. It's true for me.

My aphrodite conjuncts my midheaven with an orb of like 1 degree. My Godiva happens to conjunct my midheaven with an orb of 0 degrees.

Dare I suggest that's why I'm such a hotty?

It's #1388

Mine is in Aquarius, trine Mars & trine Saturn.

So are we thinking that it's similar to Venus, as Adonis is similar to Mars? As in Adonis is the "look" of the supposedly sexual ideal?

You know NickiG (I think!) and I were talking about that on the Adonis thread, cos we have opposing Mars and opposing Adonis signs and my masculine ideal matched my Adonis sign, not my Mars, and same with hers....So maybe Aphrodite could just be a look designed to titillate??

Not much but I found these,

Aphrodite Myth on LL

quote:
APHRODITE: A dynamic drive to mate, & to consummate sexual desire with a specific partner @ certain times. If one has a magnetic or receptive partner, this can be intensly emotonal sex. There is a strong desire to connect with others even if the person is a loner.
http://astronuts.tribe.net/thread/4ab875ab-66ef-4971-96a7-806dda000917

quote:
Yes, Venus became a rather all encompassing archetype, or group of them. Traditionally astrology had only two feminine principles, the Moon and Venus. Concurrent with the origins in the feminist movement in the nineteenth century, modern science and astrology has brought forth the asteroids, creating more of a gender balance in the stars. The Moon and Venus remain very large feminine complexes, but the asteroids allow a focus on more specific influences. I have found great benefits in working with the asteroid archetypes in my continuing journey of self-discovery.

Kim Falconer has an excellant and concise discussion of the differences between astrological Venus and Aphrodite here. Kim notes that
Quote:
Asteroid 1388 Aphrodite does not cover such a range in her rulership. She like a pure drop of “aphrodisiac” from the hem of Venus’s robe.

1388 Aphrodite relates to "impulsive love and attraction, love inspired by fated events, animosity turning to magnetism, charisma."

Maybe. But still no reason why aphrodite should be more (lover) than venus,or in any other aspect.
I go by grecian mythology. There must be some aspect romans haven't thought of...
Grecian gods have more than one name. And aphrodite's second name is 'of fair bottom' I think there lies our answer

Mine's Aquarius, which is the calves...But aqua men go more for mental ummmm massage (nice way to phrase that). Not so nice way to frame it is to screw with their mind, just a bit, but a lil mindf**k is good with them.

Oh,the never ending battle between boobs&bottom
Yes,feminine true built is pear-shaped,bottom emphasized; hourglass is much modern, evolutionary younger, idealistic view.

From my studies of Greek mythology, I remember
Apollo was the god known for his manly beauty.
He was the god of light, healing, prophecy, archery, and music. He was later considered God of the Sun.
He was the twin brother of Artemis, son of Zeus and Leto.
He is the only Greek deity who has the same name as the Roman version of him.

If you want to talk about mortal women in regards to beauty,

There is Psyche who was compared to Aphrodite in beauty by mortals that Aphrodite was jealous. Aphrodite ordered her son, Eros to make Psyche fall in love with a monster. Eros fell in love with her instead, and he married her in secret. Psyche eventually found out by sneaking up to him with a lit candle one night, and Eros left with a feeling of betrayal. To make the long story short, Psyche did tasks for Aphrodite. In the end, she and reunited with Eros. She was given immortality.

Another woman who wasn't a goddess was Helen , the daughter of Zeus and Leda. Zeus came unto Leda as a swan. Leda was said to bring out 2 eggs. One egg hatched, and out came Helen and Pollux - the children of Zeus. The other egg hatched, and out came Clytemnestra and Castor.

She ended up married to Menelaus who was given the kingdom of Sparta by Tyndareus. Of course, Paris took after being promised to her Aphrodite who had bribed Paris that she would give him the most beautiful woman in the world. Well...That resulted in the Trojan War.

It can be argued that Apollo can be used for masculine beauty and not just Adonis.

It can be argued that Psyche and Helena can be used for feminine beauty.
