PS has an excellent post addressing this, but I wanted to add one thing: Non-traditional rulers in horary are interpreted in context of the house they occupy, in addition to the rules PS posted. Such a planet situated in your 10th house might indicate your boss or someone at your workplace, for instance. IP: Logged |

Hi!I have worked with Horary for some years now. It works very well actually if you just bear some things in mind: stick with the traditional rules (that's Lilly to me). Don't attempt to read charts when the Asc is to early or to late or charts with Saturn on the Asc/Dsc line. Leave out the outer planets. And above all; keep the question simple. Yes or No will do. In my experience the problems arise when we don't really want to accept an answer that is No. Then we try to bend the rules to accomplish a better outcome. Like assigning sex to the eight house. Or adding outer planets and asteroids. Or asking the same question over and over again in slightly different words. And then it gets complicated. Anna P.S I use the Regio house system, seems that most Horary astrologers do. IP: Logged |

Thanks Sunshine! So in theory if I ask a question about another's love life they are represented by the 1st house and myself, as the one reading the chart (or attempting to) will not be represented?I also heard before that the Astrologer or at least the person trying to decypher the chart, is always represented by Saturn, regardless of what houses it rules. And yes, I read that too that the speed of the ruling planet indicates the "willingness" (if you can put it that way). PS's post about the signs and the planets and their meanings is also very interesting. I will also have to remember that exalt etc has a bearing on the influence of a ruler, too. I should write everything down. Really. Some very useful stuff! Oh, and I asked a general question about what my next partner was going to be like, and since I intend it to be a serious relationship I suppose I should look at 7th house. Not lose sight of 5th house though because if the 7th house ruler is not connected to mine, but the 5th one is, this probably suggests my next man is not going to be serious, right? I have it saved somewhere, will have to go back now and apply all that I've learned to it ------------------ [Insert catchy signature here.] IP: Logged |
