That is... disturbing I now have a mental image of a man making love to his new girlfriend, being reminded the whole time of the fact that his new girlfriend is being made love to also by his old girlfriend's name on his little friend... To be honest, seeing the names of old girlfriends tattooed on a man I'd consider going out with, is a huge turn off for me too. To me it says you have to perpetually share that man with the memory of that ex. He will always be reminded of her (or them, if there are more) when he sees the tattoo and so will you of the fact that he at some point has loved someone enough to perpetuate her name on his body.
It kind of gives my already very frail self image a huge dent. Also, what if you happen to come across someone who seems to collect ex's names on their body as a trophy case? That's just downright creepy to me. But that's from my point of view and I'm not a man. But I can imagine that a man is definitely put off by seeing another man's name on his girlfriend's body, for probably similar reasons to why I find ex's names as tattoos generally disturbing. I prefer to keep the memory of my ex's alive in my mind. It's private, no one else's business, and it's something I always carry with me too. And the ex's that I forget about, obviously weren't worth remembering. ------------------ [Insert catchy signature here.] IP: Logged |

LOL No, it's only 5 letters.I see a lot of girls and boys with lovers names on the back of their necks, I always think there has to be something connecting with labelling with that. I suppose on the plus side if you're a girl and get one done on your lower back it might keep them more inclined to face you...if you know what I mean IP: Logged |

Cutting your name into her flesh? Spontaneity, emotional and mental instability, delusions. Clouded perceptions. Astrological explanation? I think you're reaching into the slop bucket for 'inspirational' topics.I told my husband he is not allowed to tattoo my name on his body, because that's just tempting the Universe to mess with us. I actually find the idea of having my name carved into my lover's flesh or the reverse highly arousing and romantic. I have a thing for knives and blood. It would be a downer to wear the marking of an ex. But I think that is the romantic part, I am permanently marring myself, making myself less attractive to others, branding myself as yours for as long as I walk this earth. It is a show of faith. I have cut myself before, but not in a depressive way. I really enjoy it because of the blood. I am pretty sure I am not emotionally or mentally stable. IP: Logged |

I used to play with knives, cut myself, and engage in violent sex. I'd carve symbols into my skin, give presents with my blood involved (poems, paintings), dig my nails into my skin, give myself piercings, etc. An ex and I exchanged vials of our blood. It was never a self-loathing sort of thing just something to feel more alive/awake. I prefer to experience things rather than passively know of them. I have Mars(Leo) square Pluto (Scorpio) and Pluto in the first house. IP: Logged |

I forgot about this post. Are you insinuating I'm mentally disturbed? I'm actually not. I would also love to see your credentials to make such a statement. Someone else's normal may be another's treachous hell. I'll admit I'm much more grounded but strange is what I like.I 'm a pretty productive citizen with a very good job (in human services) with high status which is atypical for someone my age and gender.IP: Logged |

This is the problem with computers. You can't read body language, I was actually agreeing with what you said and telling people that you ARENT mentally disturbed. It was like an ultimate support for you. This is the confusion that "they" want you when interpreting me. IP: Logged |

Well after all this is the internet and this world is full of pathological liars A girl cutting a name into her flesh is obviously disturbed sad isn't it quote: Originally posted by Purrr: So it's not a professional tattoo... A tattoo by definition is not just the puncturing of skin but also the insertion of ink into the dermis. They're basically scarring your name onto their body.Either way, yes - I would call that a bit emotionally disturbed...

I genuinely think that if I were to watch any person's life from beginning to end - big brother style.. and watch every single thing they have ever done (including voice overs for their thoughts) - They would all be screwed up in different (sometimes similar) ways... and so am I. So frankly I am not that interested... We live our lives - make our choices - drop dead.. and it starts again.lol I wouldn't label this behaviour as 'disturbed' because I'm not sure what I would be comparing with.
