One concert I went to (got there early so i could be in the first row) it was practically ruined because one of the lead singers (there are 2) stared at me for 2 songs worth, and their songs run on for 7 minutes each so it felt like ETERNITY. I was so frustrated I had to close my eyes then turn away and then he stopped looking at me he turned around really fast but he got an angry look cos I didn't want him staring. What!! I paid for my ticket plus my friends, that was 220$ (last minute) and I expect to enjoy myself, lmao!!What kind of singer does that? He did look nervous he's said in interviews that he doesn't like to perform but stilllll go choose someone else to calm your nerves, lol, someone in the back row

Jesus, the most I've paid for a concert is like $30 (which includes the online ticketing charge). Bands that charge $100 a ticket never interest me... and that means it's stadium seating usually too. Gross. Carl, I'm not super familiar with places in DC, I live in Richmond, VA. But as far as venues go, Black Cat, Rock n Roll Hotel and 930 Club are good to check out. I'm not sure about bars... bars in DC always seem to be filled with the douchiest people. Sticky Rice is probably an okay bar (the one in Richmond is the original and far superior lol). If you like to shop, check out Georgetown. Just skip DC and come to Richmond IP: Logged |

Ooh music!I'm not sure if you can find the genre of music in a chart... after all there are different styles to one genre. For example, one might prefer Billie Holiday over Ella Fitzgerald for the tone of voice (just saying something) but I personally prefer Ella because Billie has too depressing music to my taste. For another example, someone could dislike the entire Jazz genre but simply adore Louis Armstrong and... hold on, why am I too focusing mostly on Jazz? When you have a general love for a particular genre, maybe it could be found in the chart... I love folk music and traditional folkloristic music, always have. That music has a strong emphasis on culture and culture is associated with Sagittarius/9th house and even Jupiter, and behold, not only is Jupiter my chart's ruler, but also half my chart is in Sagittarius and my Sun rules my 9th house! So I suppose there's a link there. Yet, I don't always seem to share a love for folk(lore) music with others who have as many objects in Sagittarius as I do. So, in short, I think I'll stick to assuming that not the favoured genre of music can be found in the chart, but the style within genres that is attracted by a chart. Of course, some genres have a style that doesn't change much depending on the performers of that genre.

Gemini Venus is what influences my taste, I think....its very eclectic. I have a style of music for almost every mood...LOL (actually, that sounds Cancerian too). Though I think my love for retro music definitely influenced by my Cancer Mercury and Sun. I'm an introverted music lover so I haven't been to alot of concerts because they remind me too much of clubs---too many sweaty drunk people and all that mess makes me nervous. I do prefer house shows over that any day. I actually went to see Coldplay in Wilmington once that way and it was very nice. This may have something to do with my Virgo Moon trine Neptune.

i was shocked when the first person said they didn't like live music and just plain baffled when others agreed. If I could sustain myself on live music instead of food i would, plain and simple. there's just something magic about watching musicians come together on stage to put together this piece of music. the bass pounding in your head, the drums inside of you, and watching the chemistry of these individuals and instruments coming together. i'm not big on arena rock shows, but my god don't discount live music completely, go to some shows in your area, not just big names. live music is something special. I wouldn't know, apart from my Sag connection to folk music, what influences my other taste in music. I do tend to go for melancholic, but not depressing music (even Mick Flannery isn't quite as depressing as some songs I heard ) and I suppose I could blame that on the Saturn on my Sun, and the fact that my Mars and Jupiter (rising's ruler) are both in Capricorn. I *never* go for pop music and even try to avoid it at all costs, for the simple reason that pop music is by definition average because average appeals to a greater mass and in order to become "pop" music, one has to sell plenty of records and get a lot of air time. I prefer original music, something with a twist... Which I suppose I could blame on my 1st house Uranus... But it's not something you'll hear on popular radio stations.Apart from that I'm perpetually attracted to rythm and blues. It's not blues, it's not rock, but I personally think it's one of the most amazing genres in existence. Not sure what part of my chart would point to that. Anyway, coming to the point now, I did want to mention that I'm not a big fan of concerts or festivals either. I prefer bar gigs, because they're not only less crowded, they're also more personal (and I have a pet peeve for impersonal) and better for my ears. I have very good ears. So good that loud music actually hurts me. Not to mention that being around too many people drains my energy. So I really have no other choice than to go for pub gigs, with the added bonus that it is more personal of course!
There are a lot of things which influence choice in music and even choice in venues, so much that I still don't think there's really one "passe-partout" placement which can point out what kind of music someone likes. I'd say bits scattered over the entire chart tells us partly what kind of music someone's into. Even then, someone else with the exact same placement can love completely different genres of music but for the exact same reason... ------------------ [Insert catchy signature here.] IP: Logged |

haha i was shocked too actually to hear some share the similar aversion to live music as me. i usually get "you're an idiot" when i say those stuff to my friends. i do know some of you like aya and carl have a lot/ some sag so i would've thought you'd actually be the ones really into the whole gig thing. my dad who is a 5 planets in sag guy probably sees an act every week or even more. he is mostly present for bigger concerts where he knows the artists. he's more pop though or just likes what is familiar to him. i'm a taurus sun so i kinda like the whole expensive audio set up at home with awesome headphones. plus a nice chair ahaha! I don't think they discounted live music completely, just the big concert scene. There are many different types of live shows. IP: Logged |

I love live music because of the energy and to have it directed toward me specifically, it would be an almost orgasmatic experience. It might come from my Virgo Sun conjunct Jupiter and Mars Leo all in the 5th house and my Pisces Moon in the 12th. IP: Logged |

Like most indie pop is really boring to me (like Matt & Kim is the first thing that comes to mind when I think "BORING"). When I was younger I hated punk music because it was too simple, but I've grown to love it because of the lyrics. Anyway, here are my favorite bands/artists: M83, Beach House, Bjork, The Knife/Fever Ray, Saves the Day, Daft Punk, Blood Brothers, Circle Takes the Square, Converge & Jenny Lewis (also Justin Bieber). See, it's all over the place. I'm an Aqua Sun/Mercury with a Pisces Venus, Libra Moon, Gem Rising. Some screamo is really good, though. Like Circle Takes the Square (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UEV6V5tSuDI), Orchid, Saetia, Suis La Lune, La Quiete, Funeral Diner, Pg 99, etc. I'm so excited, I'm actually seeing Pg 99 (which is a big deal because they've been broken up) and Converge in August
Man, I like all those ! And I have a Gemini Rising too. So lucky to see Converge :3 I like hardcore and heavy stuff, but not only. Chillwave, Indie, Electro, Punk, heck even some Jazz. I like variety IP: Logged |

I've noticed Venus (art) plays out strongly in taste, musical and otherwise, in aspect and house. I've noticed people with Pluto aspects to Venus like darker stuff, often punk or metal. I have my Venus conjunct Uranus and Saturn in the 9th in Sag opposite Chiron, I like electronic music, anything that sounds new somehow (Uranus), a lot of music from other countries (Sag/9th). I also really like songs by older artists- Leonard Cohen for example, songwriters that have been through the ropes (Saturn). Music and art in general have a big healing effect on me so I like songs about pain (Chiron). IP: Logged |

PiscesThe Fish likes complex melodies. In terms of classical preferences, they prefer the music of Baroque composers. They also like medieval music and music from other cultures. The Piscean enjoys all forms of jazz, especially the most abstract music. They are very fond of the work style jazz song, which resembles chanting and the Bebop style which is fast and upbeat with elaborate melodies. They also enjoy female singers that have an optimistic upbeat mellow approach. I'm a Pisces sun and I can't stand Jazz of any kind. I've tried to appreciate it, but it simply sets my teeth on edge. It's awful!!!
I love the blues, classic rock, country, and live music. In fact, I got out three times a week to local watering holes just to hear bands play. IP: Logged |

Sand: I actually love live music and the whole festival idea, it's just loud noises and crowds that I can't really deal with (damn hypersensitivity) so I tend to avoid them. It is a shame though, because there are a lot of local festivals I've always wanted to go to, but I know for a fact that I'd get physically drained after only being there for half an hour. The smaller festivals I can deal with luckily enough, but that limits my choice of live venues so much, that I tend to just banish the idea of going to festivals to the catacombs of my mind and take preference to pub gigs. Concerts don't do it for me. Sure, we're all there for the same reason but you couldn't be further away from your neighbour at that point. To me it feels like at the movies, people seem to come to the bigger gigs only for the band which is playing and not really to make friends. It happens of course, but I've never experienced it. Perhaps I've been seating myself beside the wrong people ------------------ [Insert catchy signature here.] IP: Logged |
