Well, quintiles from my experience? Virgo rising, so don't feel too comfortable talking about natural gifts of creativity I've been given. Had the self-destruct thing going on at times in my life too for various reasons.. . But,
The quintile is a 72 degree aspect and there are few articles about this aspect that I've not seen Albert Einstein's chart posted as an example. Alice Portman on her site refers to it as the creative/destructive process of life.
Einstein created the formula to split an atom(?) thereby introducing nuclear destruction capabilities.
Pretty sure Mozart had a few also.
Amy had 6 quintiles involving her Mars/ Saturn, Uranus/Mercury,Mercury/Jupiter, her Sun/Jupiter, part of fortune/Neptune and her vertex/Venus. Her father was right in his statement today--she was all about love, expressing it through her writing, music, and her love for friends and family and fellas.
It is a natural talent aspect in a chart. Haven't studied harmonics, but quintile aspects/signs are the fifth harmonic I believe they say, along with the bi-quintile
Another definition: The 5th harmonic chart indicates talent, if any.
bobmarksastrology describes it this way:
In the 5th harmonic chart, all of the quintiles and bi-quintiles come together as conjunctions, making them very easy to spot. The semi-quintiles and sesqua-quintiles become oppositions. Quintiles are one fifth of a circle (72 degrees) and they give talent and power, and show our ability to put things together (pattern recognition). It also has to do with creative play, the joy of making up games of finding patterns (like looking for "patterns" of cracks in the ceiling, or always stepping on cracks in the sidewalk, or always avoiding the cracks). People with strong 5th harmonics do things like that all the time. Of course, taken to the extreme, this is a mental disorder, but those with a strong 5th harmonic usually manage to keep it under control, and then it becomes the basis for creative talent. You don't need a strong 5th harmonic to succeed as an artist, designer, scientist, or engineer, but it really helps.
Another definition:
quintile: an aspect of 72° or 1/5th of the circle, denoting the bringing together of the male and female within an individual, thus indicating marriage, creativity, and one’s art; 2° orb.
and, from findyourfate.com:
The quintile is an aspect of 72 degrees, or 1/5 of the 360 degree circle. It is an easy minor aspect, often signifying human endeavor and accomplishments.
One of mine involves my Sun/MC. I've noticed self-destruct v. create during periods of my life, no doubt.
I guess the two have to go hand in hand, You can't create something with nothing, yet you have to have something in order to destroy I suppose.
I hope the media does right by this situation and uses it to encourage people to choose to seek help if they are experiencing similar addictions. She was just genius. She had that power you know.
