I would like to try something to help us all learn about House Rulers.
I hope it does not get too unwieldy and have me bug eyed
How about take ONE house ruler question and put it here and we will discuss it.
For example ,if you are stumped as to how the Ruler of the 7th in the 1st works--ask just that.
We can talk about it.

I am trying to refine it and I know many are interested as well!

Cool!
OK You will take your intellect and apply it to the mystical. Explain how this works for you.

An innate ability to grasp the meaning of metaphors and symbolism.
A mystical / spiritual lifephilosophy.
Sometimes you might keep hidden your religious / spiritual / philosophical thoughts or others may have difficulties to really understand your complex thoughts.
Probably very interesting, even inspiring or visionary dreams (or meditative experiences).
Very sensitive, maybe even psychic, and very vulnerable when it comes to your ideals or beliefs.
Maybe others around you may perceive you as "different" or just don`t see a part of you.
Maybe you`re also too trusting sometimes of others good intentions, especially if they seem to have a "philosophy of life" (that is if we associate the 9th house with its ruler Jupiter and 12th house with its natural ruler Neptune - add that and Sun as ruler of 9th in 12th house would have a little bit similiar flavour to Sun- Neptune- Jupiter).

Let me ask you this.
Ruler of 12th in 9th
Would THIS make the person able to write about the mystical world?

Wellllll I am quite interested in parapsychology, religion, spirituality... But then again, aren't most of us here? I do just tend to apply what I learn to understanding more about the subjects I mentioned, even try to explain them where possible

Ok I am gonna try to break this down and tell me what you think
The 9th to the 12th can understand the 12th easily
HER intellectual processes can appear"strange" to other people cuz they "touch" the 12th

She can be "conned" by intellectual ideas cuz the 12th house connection makes her unclear in her OWN thinking

Can you be conned by a guy talking about mystical things or intellectual things?
Is your own intellect and those of others a place you could be conned?

Hmm, not necessarily but that is probably because the only men I've ever known who talked about mystical things, never really managed to convince me. I can be conned by guys who philosophise though

Hello again, Ami.

There's one I'm having difficulty interpreting myself; my 9th house ruler (Mars) is in my second house. What could this mean?

Ami,

"Ruler of 12th in 9th
Would THIS make the person able to write about the mystical world?"
Maybe. Though 9th house is more about publishing; the person would need some strong aspects to Mercury or ruler of 3rd house as well. though the 9th house may help in going public.

This person`s philosophy and their expression of it (9th house) would be influenced by mystical things (12th house).

"Ruler of 9th in 12th
Would this be the person WANTING to study the mystical world?"
Yes, I think so.

As I see it: the house where the planet is placed in is where the action happens. The house the planet rules may give insights into the motivation or the "why" and the planet itself indicates the "how" (along with signplacement probably).

So with ruler of 9th in 12th house, the 9th house issues will be expressed on a 12th house area. The kind of like the planet wanders from t he ruled house (9th) into the house it is positioned in (12th house).
So one`s life philosophy (9th house) will be expressed in 12t house: dreams, mystical surroundings etc.
Actually it might even mean something like a person who travels abroad to the ocean or across an ocean. Though that would be a bit literal I guess.

With the 12th house ruler in 9th house; the mystical inclinations will colour the philosophy and expression of it very strongly.

Of course no matter which direction some similiarities will remain.

What does it mean when the ruler of the first, the second, the third, the ninth and the tenth house are all in the first house?
I find it very confusing to have so many house rulers in one house...it makes the interpretation very difficult.

OK I think this means you "wear" these houses on your person.
IOW You have a strong identity (1st in 1st)
You like to look successful and tasteful in your clothes and outer appearance such as cars etc (2nd in 1st)
You have a unique style of communicating( 3rd in 1st)
You like to appear intellectual ( 9 in 1st)
You like to appear successful in career and in your social standing (10 in 1st)

I await Ceri's input

Thank you, Ami.
So the 1st house is about the image we like to project of ourselves? So more reputation than actual personality? That is interesting.

Yes Darling
You said it well. It would be the car we drive i.e the image we want to project and do project.
Can you elaborate if you care to

Hmm, I'm not a materialistic person. Have no car (not even a drivers license). My ugly old bike is enough for me.
I hate to wear make up and I feel uncomfortable in fancy clothing. Don't get me wrong, my dressing style is very important to me but it must be weird and different rather than fashionable. i love it when the colors don't mix. Awlays better to be underdressed than overdressed imo. Except for work. I always dress very neat and appropriate there.
Some of the points are very accurate though...from projecting intellectuality to success. I do see that in myself.

Oh, I've just noticed that one of my house rulers is wrong! My 9th house ruler is in the 10th not in the 1st. It's the 12th house ruler that's in the first.

No, no, no, no, no, 1st house is VERY MUCH about personality, it`s NOT a mask you put on that has nothing to do with you. That is just wrong!
Sorry, if I get carried away, but I am reading this stuff over and over and it just isn`t true.

Just think of it that way. the 1st house, especially the aSC, represents the moment you`re born. The ASC actually is your naked Self, the instinctual Self, naked essence, your (physical) needs and urges.

In another way it represents how you perceive the world around you, which are the glasses you are looking through to see the world, how you approach the world and others. But it is so close to yourself, that most of the time you cannot even see these parts in yourself, but others see them quite clearly.
The ASC especially is very much your personal energy, that which you radiate, and I believe, makes a big part of your Aura / energetical makeup.
It`s the beginning of everything, the first step into this incarnation.

How can this be superficial or just a mask?
The masks come later, when we have gotten enough "feedback" and feel the need to readjust the way we show ourselves.
But in the first step the ASC is very pure, undiluted physical essence of ourselves, not just in term of body, but about what we radiate energetically.

I have a lot of planets, and therefore rulers, in my 1st house as well (3rd house ruler, 7th ruler, 9th ruler, 10th, 5th, 6th ruler and 4th ruler is conjunct ASC. lol); I think maybe that is one of the reasons I like analysis so much and use it to gain more understanding of myself (Neptune as ruler of 3rd house conjunct ASC).
Also, I am affected personally very strongly by so many things. The 6th house ruler in my 1st house for example makes me very sensitive to weather and other influences, which affect me physically. 4th house ruler conjunct my ASC - my emotions affect my energy and physical strength and health a lot. Actually arguing with my mother or tensions in the family / home have sometimes made me sick.

I see it that with so many rulers in my 1st house I am almost like a sponge (Neptune on ASC contributes to that as well), soakening up all these outward influences. But that feeling is not so much emotional, but happens on an instinctual, physical level.
Very sensitive to lights and noises as well.
