Ceri,This section is about the synastry that most stood out to me about the two of you… and how things could potentially be in a close relationship… you’ll notice I put quite an emphasis on house rulers… and put in some other stuff I thought was relevant as well…
IMPORTANT SYNASTRY
His Dsc ruler is conjunct your Neptune is interesting… his Dsc ruler is Mercury (ruling Virgo)…he likes things to be clean cut and precise in definition with regard to relationships, and yet you may appear to be something of an enigma to him… like your mind in operating on a different more intangible level, and you have a sort of dreamy quality to him…
you could make him feel a bit like he is walking in wonderland, and he may enjoy this feeling around you for the most part… a conjunction is inherently an agreement…
However this conjunction is also square his natal Jupiter/Mars conjunction in Virgo… so there is also an element of frustration involved in this configuration (keep in mind, he will likely have some manner of frustration involved in all his 7th house related matters due to his natal squares)… the Virgo, dissecting part of his nature wants to figure you out in specific terms, and part of you wants to remain vague and undefined…
His Mercury is also exactly sextile your Pluto… your are able to see into his mind, and are quite perceptive regarding some of his inner thoughts… your Pluto sextile his Dsc ruler also indicates that you have quite a fascination with him… while he has a curiosity about your inner depths… and perhaps he feels that as a partner you could offer him reliable counsel when it comes to private matters… and potentially passionate devotion… which he looks for (Pluto in the 7th)…
His Mercury is conjunct your North Node in Sag… his mode of relating, and how he verbalizes things… somehow feel like they open you up, and help you to move forward…his Virgo Mars/Jupiter conjunction squaring this configuration could also relate to him challenging you, or even daring you to move forward…he has the potential to make you work on your path…
your Jupiter in Pisces also is opposite his Virgo Mars/Jupiter conjunction…this creates a T-square involving the Virgo Mars-Jupiter/Pisces Jupiter opposition which squares your mutual Mercury/Neptune conjunction… while the Mercury/Neptune conjunction is flouting around in dream land, (although it is steadied somewhat by Plutonian insight)…The Jupiter-Mars/Jupiter interaction has a very enthusiastic, energetic, confronting quality to it… there is a flow of energy bouncing between you, involving a kind of humorous excitement and assertiveness…
he has a natal Mercury square Mars/Jupiter…so he is naturally very direct and playful within himself, but being around you would exaggerate this quality even more… your Jupiter in Pisces rules your 1st house, and having it oppose his Virgo conjunction would allow you to rise to the challenge with him with him. You are able to be a good sport regarding most of his behavior and may find his antics quite amusing…
His Mars oppose your 1st house ruler has a double mars connotation… indicating passion and a fiery attraction between you, and also that he is the one more likely to be the more aggressive one in the relationship(his Mars)… you would call him on it if he were too pushy though… Jupiter is good natured, but won’t put up with too much nonsense… the Jupiter/Jupiter opposition does indicate warmth and liking but also some disagreements regarding moral issues, and opinions… this aspect tends toward debate, and weighing the pros and cons of different issues together… you’d find yourselves doing a lot of comparing together.
With the two of your having your Sag Sun’s conjunct… you are able to identify with each other, and there would be a strong sense of union and purpose together… and yet with your mutual Jupiter opposition (the Sun‘s ruler for both of you).… there is also a sense that, ironically, you’re sometimes at odds in terms of your choices and desires… the positive side to this is that you are able to compliment each other in a relationship…by offering that which is different, as well as that which is similar… in terms of different perspectives on you may have on various issues and ways of doing things…
And with his Sun being his sixth house ruler and also his Secondary Dsc ruler, this conjunction could be significant to him… he wants a partner who can be involved with him in a day to day level, and who is able to support him thought out the daily tasks that must be done… this conjunction would allow you to be that for him… both with your sense of identity, and with your ideas… (Sun/Mercury).
With your Mercury/Sun conjunct his Sun, and Mercury being your Dsc ruler… this tie indicates that he ‘shines’ in a way that attracts you, impresses you and pulls you toward him… perhaps to you he seems particularly charismatic and powerful in some way… his essence and manliness… make him what you’d likely consider partner material…
Also with your Sun/Mercury being conjunct his Mc, there may be something about the way that you carry yourself, and express your thoughts, that he admires… and thinks of as laudable…
His chart shows that he is very driven, and puts a lot of pressure on himself to achieve… Saturn is squaring his Sun/Moon from the 7th house… yes he has his light fun side, but internally he may be quite critical of himself…
Your Sun/Mercury is caught up in this natal square of his, by conjuncting his Sun… in a close relationship you might sometimes find yourself bearing the brunt of his negative mood if his confidence takes a hit, or he may put pressure on you to live up to some standard in his mind… or there may be times where you’d feel he turns a cold shoulder towards you, or hurts your feelings by shutting you out… often due to him having his own issues…
The Sun/Sun-Mercury interaction is very affirming however. And can help buffer the Saturn aspect with communication, and a feeling common purpose… still, in a close relationship, every now and then the Saturn aspect would pop up, and need to be worked through…
Another important thing that I’d like to point out is that… There are a couple of 7th house/1st house connections between the two of you….
This gives a Venus/Mars type flavor to your interactions… these often show a pull towards being together, as well as flirty behavior, and sometimes longing…
(1) His Mercury, ruler of his Dsc is conjunct your Asc… this is an excellent connection, because it means that your external mannerisms and persona resonate with how he’d prefer to have a partner behave… how you present yourself in a very basic kind of way would catch his attention. Your very manner of being has an allure to him…
(2) Your Asc ruler Jupiter is Square his Dsc ruler Mercury… there is definitely something about him that jumps out and grabs your attention as well…. Again, a vibe of playfulness and laughter is empathized, yet there is also a tension…like coming together is difficult somehow… like there are some differences and obstacles between you… but still an exciting, lively attraction…
There are also some traditional attraction aspects in the synastry…the most important one, to me least, is to be your Sun conjunct his moon within 3 degrees… this is potentially a very deep and bonding tie..
And of course his Mars trine your Venus…the orb is 5 degrees… which is about the limit of what I’d consider important… but it still fits into orb…the energy is still there, even it on just makes it…
I find the Vertex has significant role to play in synastry as well…
Vertex seems to resonate with finding exactly what your looking for, or finding what you’d didn’t even realize you wanted, in some way…it resonates with people and situations that set you off in a direction that you’ve always longed to go in…. I posted an article about this on my Nordic Soul thread… where the Vertex relates to how our mind recognizes ‘wish fulfillment’… and the part of our selves that we use to interpret what things are most meaningful and relevant to us on a personal level. That’s why the Vertex feels like ‘fate’… because people who hit our Vertex stand out in our minds, and make feel like we’re getting what we were somehow always meant to get ( in both positive and negative ways)… I find that both hard and soft aspects work… with soft aspects it’s like a smooth drift to a certain recognition, or around a certain turning point, or change in perspective…with hard aspects it’s more like a dramatic impact, or a sharp turning point… the word that comes to mind is BAMM!!
The Vertex is like the setting, the props, and the situation behind the important relationships, and turning points in our lives… that feel the most meaningful to us.
Anyway, the point of this ramble is that now I’m gonna go into aspects involving the Vertex in your synastry… I find aspects with in about 4 degrees to be affective for the Vertex…
Your Vertex axis is at 21 Cancer/Capricorn…
It is trine his Asc at 23 degrees Pisces, and his Uranus at 23 degrees Scorpio, and Squares his Pluto at 21 degrees Libra…it also opposes his Venus at 25 degrees of Capricorn, and sextiles his Saturn at 26 Virgo (this is the weakest connection).
His Vertex axis is at 27 Virgo/Pisces…
It is square your Mercury/Sun conjunction at 25 Sagittarius.
Definitely shows a strong potential for the two of you to each have an impact on each other Vertex-like just ‘just what I’ve always needed/ it feels so meaningful/ I knew this was gonna happen some day’ kind of way….
For you, his appearance and outer mannerisms, his social and affectionate side, his originality, his capacity for intensity or even obsession, and his sense of responsibility…. All have the capacity to trigger your psyche in a Vertex kind of way.
For him, your sense of identity and essential nature, as well as your thought processes and what you say… could influence him in a way that feels significant for him…
My overall impression of this synastry is that there are some really nice house ruler connections, especially with primary the 7th house rulers… my main concern would be how your Sun/Mercury conjunction gets caught up in his natal Saturn squares… Saturn can be pretty heavy, but if you don’t mind the pressure it’s workable…passion and attraction is certainly indicated by the house ruler connections… although I do wish I saw tighter ’traditional’ love aspects… like ones within 2 degrees…although perhaps I’m undervaluing the Sun/Moon conjunction… it’s 3 degrees off and for the luminaries that is probably more then potent enough… Anyway, my favorite parts of the Synastry are his primary 7th house ruler Mercury Conjunct your Asc/Neptune/North Node and Sextile your Pluto (helps clear away some of the fog, could provide insight to his Mercury/way of relating), and your primary 7th house ruler Mercury, and your Sun, conjunct his Sun/Mc really tight… also love his Mars oppose your 1st house ruler… seems kinda hot…
And you had some questions in your last thread about how I interpret, I’ll post some answers to those below…
Q: ", or aspects the cusp rulers… through synastry and overlays. "
So you would also notice the cusp ruler of the associate house in synastric aspect?
like my 5th house is associated with the 2nd house (or the other way round) and 2nd house ruler is Saturn, so aspects to my Saturn,w ould give a - probably minor- information on my 5th house as well?
A: Yes, I always take into account the sign, house, and aspect of a secondary house cusp ruler. Like you, I have Sag rising with Aqua on My 3rd house cusp ruled by Uranus in Scorpio… I been attracted to Scorpio Venus, and Sun before (mixed with Sag placements, and a Gemini Moon), and I quite like the Scorp intensity, and how they subtly probe you/ try to figure you out…
“Actually I have already begun to call them "primary ruler " (the actual ruler of 5th house cusp) and "secondary ruler" (the ruler of the house cusp associated with the sign on 5th house cusp)”.
Good idea for the terminology…I’m going to use those terminologies from now on just to keep things simple.
Q: "2. Venus, the Moon and/or the Sun strongly aspected in their natal chart, conjunct an angle, or in the 1st house (the persona house)"
Which brings us to the question: when is a planet considred strong?
I think we might have similiar thoughts on this as well; so far I was thinking a planet is strongly aspected if it is conjunct Sun, Moon, ASC, ASC-ruler, conjunct another angle or in the 1st house.
Maybe other tight aspects could be considered strong as well.
Though in my case, with four planets in first house, it seems like I might naturally "fulfill" a lot of these needs, especially the Sun, Mercury, Venus, neptune, Mars ones. With Pluto conjunct MC. Sun and ASC in Sag, Moon in Aqua, Venus in Cap, the question is what planet is not strong in my chart?
Well, Moon I guess. lol
Though some are clearly stronger than others; like Jupiter having several hits. Sun and ASC in Sag. ASC square Jupiter. Which might "beat" mars, which is "only" conjunct ASC.
A: Yes, if a person clump of planets in the 1st, I consider the ones closest to the Asc, and most strongly aspected in general to be the ‘strongest’…
Q: "nd lets just say that in this case Venus in Cancer falls into the 9th house…"
Venus as DESC-ruler in 9th house you mean?
A: In the post you are referring to, I had a hypothetical example of someone with a Taurus Dsc, and Venus in Cancer in the 9th house… so yes, I mean the Dsc ruler in the 9th house…
"By connections I mean house ruler synastry, house overlays (planets in houses), and sign/ planet/ house matche"
so three layers:
1. sign / planet / house matches
2. house overlays
3. houseruler synastry
plus the usual planetary synastry of course
See it the same way, though I still need to systematize it for my use.”
Very much agreed.
Q: "because then they exhibit a natural tendency of their own, to focus on those particular issues that you deem important for a relationship. "
Yes, definitely.
if this is not the case, but there is the fitting overlay in synastry, maybe it just means that people focus on different things and express themselves differently, and yet they can "fit" each other well?”
A: Yes. They can fit because when they are together they just naturally influence each other in a certain kind of way, even if it’s not intended or even decided upon by the people involved… the energy between the two just flows that way.
Q: "And in terms of synastry, for romance I like to see at least one aspect between a traditional male planet and a traditional female planet…
By traditional you mean Sun-Moon, Venus-Mars?
A: I mean Sun/Moon, Venus/Mars, Moon/Mars, Sun/Venus… and sometimes physical attraction is also caused by Mars/Mars, Sun/Mars, and Moon/Venus (This one is usually more about the warm fuzzies, however it can be sensuality /comfort)… even though these are not opposite gender pairs… and Venus or Mars aspecting Pluto or Uranus can cause attraction as well… although, I think these ones should be backed up by other more ‘personal planet pairs’ to be truly significant… like if they are a relationship house ruler, or part of an aspect configuration involving one of the previously mentioned pairs..
