In your opinion which house would affect sexual expression the most? or are both equally important with sexual expression?

I don't interpret planets IN their house as it's too much when you add in sign on the cusp, with aspects to planet. I'd look at 8th house ruler in aspect with 5th house ruler. Same conclusion, just different method.

"8th house is a water house, naturally ruled by Scorpio and Pluto. It`s really deep stuff happening there.
Also, it is part of the relationship quadrant, where relationship gets committed and official and - of course - intimate.

The 5th house is part of the emotional quadrant (on the half that represents the "Self") which relates quite strongly to the self of a person (because it is about the person`s feelings and emotions and expressions not the partner`s). Also let`not forget the Sun is the natural ruler of that house. It is pretty much selfcentred, which is not necessarily bad. IT can be actually very attractive and romantic.
In the 5th house I "love" (maybe it is more about attraction than love though) someone else because he makes me feel alive and good with myself. And I like to express my affection openly (depending on influences to the 5th house). It`s maybe the most expressive house there is.

In the 8th house there is also a note of "sacrifice". Like Pluto this house (or influences relating to it) wants to transform you,a nd transforming always includes to sacrifice something (ideally something that you don`t need anymore and have to let go of to grow).

Sex in this house is not a tool of "selfaffirmation" of making you just feel alive in yourself, but it`s a way to experience something ancient, something that is "bigger" than you. A very deep and scary experience (and fears are also connected to the 8th house as is death; and really, sex here has something to do with dying, or rather with complete surrender; you surrender to a feeling, to another person, completely, even though it`s clear that this will leave everything changed).

The 8th house shows your commitment, your desire to merge with someone or something, your passions and deep intimate (sexual) relations.

the individual constellations of these houses have to be considered of course.

I still think that the 5th house is about (sexual) selfexpression, and the 8th house has to be seein in context of an Other, usually happening in relationships.

In my chart, 5th house in Taurus, ruler Venus in Capricorn square Pluto.

the 5th house still sais something about my general approach to sexual selfexpression, and in my case sais that it is a more serious one, and certainly not prone to one night stands.

(the 8th house fits here too, though, as Cancer is on the cusp, ruler of 8th is in Aquarius in 2nd house, and Saturn is placed in 8th house.)

What house is Venus in?

Basically what I'm saying is that people's own personal approach to sex is gonna color the answer they give to this question. Someone whose approach to sex is more casual-minded "It's just physical, it's just sex and it's fun" will probably say it's fifth house, and odds are their chart is gonna reflect that astrologically as well - for them it WILL be a fifth house matter. For someone that's more serious about it and thinks it's an eighth house matter you'll probably see that reflected in their chart as well...

Thanks for sharing it made understand better the 5th and 8th house and put me in brainstorm mode once again plus it made me understand you better.

Husband's first and 5th house ruler is mercury and his mercury is in scorpio in the 5th and his mercury semisextiles saturn and his 8th cusp is ruled by saturn. He also has pluto in the 5th.

He is a mix as you can see. He likes to have casual sex but when in a committed relationship he expresses himself less sexually bc of saturn ruling his 8th and aspecting the ruler of his 1st and 5th. At the beginning when it was not serious between us he was a lot more active and then when it become serious the frequency dropped significantly but never completely. In bed he is intense but still feels casual been with him (mercury in scorpio in the 5th). His saturn ruling his 8th and aspecting his 5th ruler do make him faithful when in a relationship I feel though, it gives him a lot of self control.

My 5th house ruler is mars which conjuncts venus, sextiles pluto and trines neptune. Sex that is recreational for me therefore is quite meaningful bc I make sure to pick someone that I have a good connection with and view it as passionate encounter that leads to transformation and transcending for those moments to another dimension, something out of this world. I don't have one night stands as my mars conjuncts venus and venus is ruled by my 11th so my lovers are friends and stay in my life for a long time.

My 8th is ruled by the moon which conjuncts my IC which opposes my mercury and squares my Neptune. So again the Neptune influence is present which views sex as a way to transcend to another dimension and that seeks out a partner who I see as a soulmate (Neptune aspects both 5th and 8th so I look for soulmate connection either way). I think my moon in the 8th sees sex perhaps as something that feeds my soul and replenishes it.
