The 12th House By amiann | Published: February 17, 2012 The 12th House is akin to the 8th House. These Houses are spoken about in whispers. The 8th House rules death. The 12th rules prisons, mental institutions, the hospice, the hospital, addictions and obsessions. The 8th could rule obsessions, too. There is some overlap, as each house rules underground things, taboos. If you cannot talk about it at a cocktail party, it is ruled by one of these houses. The 8th house rules underground emotions and passions. The 12th house is the doorway to the next dimension. It rules the womb, as it is the dimension before life. It rules the after life, although the event of death is ruled by the 8th house. Where one goes AFTER death is a 12th House domain. A person with a strong 12th House is a very spiritual creature, as he must be. Either that, or he will fall in to addictions. There seems to be no other way to navigate a strong 12th house. One will be a sinner or a saint, as the saying goes. Some of the most deeply spiritual people have heavily occupied 12th Houses. Some of the people who end up in prisons and mental institutions have heavy 12th House influences, too. The answer to the 12th House is found in God, as the earth does not provide the level of comfort needed to navigate life, to those who inhabit the 12th House regions.

Interesting.I've found that people with 12th house placements can be quite reluctant to really acknowledge the spiritual side of life though. Those I know can be quite practical and don't really pay attention to how the Universe works. Maybe they haven't developed their potential yet. Or they're in some kind of denial. IP: Logged |

DR, wow that's an interesting point. i have pluto in h12 minutes away from the 1st house. i know it is read like it is in the 1st and so on but the reason i never connected to h12 pluto readings is because of the psychic stuff. i never see anything, ghosts, auras, premonitions, even dreams. doesn't help i'm a taurus sun too i guess. so connected to the earth plane..IP: Logged |

Hm, the sinner or saint line really got me. I have Sun/Venus in 12th... when I was younger the "rebel" in me wanted to always push the envelope: tattoos, piercings... used a fake ID and went to bars when I was 17...."love them & leave them" with men... drank a lot...spent a lot of money. I was badass and reckless - although I'm fortunate I never got into drugs or "bad" crowds. I've grown up a lot in the past few years, I rarely go out to bars, I'm realizing I'd prefer to be more of the "Saint" than the sinner. These days I'm very discriminating (ok, prude) when it comes to sex, and I act very conservatively....even my language has cleaned up a lot. I've begun to go to church more, started yoga & I've begun to read a lot more self-help books. Irregardless of sinner or saint - I was always looking to the "next" dimension somehow... whether it be through metaphysical or spiritual...it's always something I'm curious about. ------------------ Aqua Sun Gem Moon Aries RIsing IP: Logged |

Sounds quite true actually. I know someone who has Sun, Saturn, Venus, and Mercury all in libra, in the 12th house, (ascendant libra too though) and secrecy is her middle name! She's not very spiritual, but she has scary dreams, especially about death. Almost everytime someone dies in her dream, someone dies in real life within weeks. She says its happened about 13 times now...I found that spooky!IP: Logged |

With my Sun's ruler, Neptune in the 12th...Gettcha Ami!!!And since the veil can be so obscure, between addictions and saints, one can sometimes be inbetween. I am not an addictive person, but at the same time, I have spent my share of my life yearning for "the other side" and abusing substance just to try to simulate it, whilst always, always a very spitual person... I really enjoyed this. I am more fascinated by the 12th than the 8th (though my NN is in the 8th, Taurus). I have an empty 12th house, but as I've posted before, people with 12th house placements always have some sort of contatct with my 12th house. There is often a spiritual religious side to the relationship(s) and I sometimes feel they think they are reaching into an unseen, 'unconscious' space when dealing with me. Some like it. I've met others who hate it and become afraid of me because I become too 'in tune' with this unseen, fragile part of themselves. I literally feel like I see straight to their soul, things they hide, fear...etc, which can be a bit scary and overwhelming even for me.Very nice post! IP: Logged |

I agree with this with the exception that the 12th house rules prisons and hospices as I think that's a bit outdated. I have Mars and Jupiter in the 12th house, and when I need it... when I REALLY need it and am not looking for anything as a "reward" or wanting anything because of my ego, I get it. I can think of and dream up whatever I want and it manifests. I'm pretty sure I have a better ability than most to connect to the law of attraction. IP: Logged |

n.Sun, Jupiter and Mars in the 12th. I've definitely leaned towards spiritual subjects my whole life. I've always been a Seeker. Looking into occult topics, that sort of thing. When people try to guess my sun sign, they come up a lot with Pisces. Also, I keep a lot of secrets. Particularly now, when t.Uranus entered my 12th house. What's up with that, I don't know. All my romantic relationships have been hidden. I try to rarely talk about my love life. I don't like people making that their business. I want to handle it myself. So far, no mental institutions. I was in nursing school, but it didn't work out. IP: Logged |

Basic astrology forum, 12th house planets http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum12/private-jjLYZw161/HTML/000666.html To enter this forum you need an extra password – astrology….Eighth House "Several areas fall under the rule of the eighth house. Sex and sexual intimacy are eighth house matters. Note the word intimate. The eighth house may reveal one's ability to share deep, intimate bonding with another person. Because of this, the eighth house is also connected to the popular notion of meeting one's soul-mate. The eighth house is the house of major lifestyle changes. Whatever planets fall into this house will be completely transformed in some way and the individual's approach to the things represented by that planet emerge drastically altered. Surgery is associated with the eighth house. Death and all matters pertaining to death belong to the eighth house. Inheritances, other people's money in general and the spouses money are eighth house matters. If the seventh house is equivalent to the partners first house in your chart, then your eighth house represents their second house and thus, their finances. Support from others both financial and moral and the value system of others are eighth house issues. The occult is normally associated with the eighth house. In this case, occult refers to the manipulation of natural or psychic forces in order to produce desired outcomes. Mysteries, magic, secrets, ulterior motives and the investigation of these things are all eighth house matters. The eighth house corresponds to Scorpio and so any planets in this house function with some underlying Scorpio style. Additionally, the eighth house also represents extreme conditions, drastic changes, as well as, control and power issues." http://www.skyviewzone.com/astrology/houses.htm#house8 Twelfth House "Here in the twelfth house we find areas of life that tend to place one away from the rest of society. Hence, this house is most commonly known as the house of large public institutions, hospitals, prisons and asylums. Monasteries naturally fall into this category, as well. Sometimes this isolation is self imposed. A writer who needs long periods of uninterrupted time is an example of self imposed isolation. A hospital stay is not usually a self imposed situation. You will often see the phrases behind-the-scenes or hidden from view used in connection with twelfth house matters. This covers a fairly large area of potential experiences. That which is purposefully deceptive as well as, actions taken for the sake of simply doing rather than for glory or recognition. The latter leading naturally to altruistic acts of helpfulness and kindness, in which the act itself is the sole reward. Hidden enemies are in the twelfth house as opposed to the open opposition in the seventh house. Any planets in this house may represent something that the individual either doesn't have a clear view of or doesn't want a clear view of. The edges of reality become blurred, allowing one to exist in the more ideal scenario that one creates on the mental plane. Or, in other cases, the use of addictive substances or self indulgent habits that allow a person to escape unpleasant realities for the time being, though never eliminating the source of pain is another possible manifestation of this reality avoidance syndrome. Traditionally this is the house of suffering and self undoing. You’ve probably seen this already. What exactly does it mean? It means this. How do you tangle up your own web? Look at planets in this house and the sign on the twelfth house cusp. Do you avoid reality? Do you lack boundaries with respect to these things? And what about the suffering part? Do the answers to any of the former create problems for you? Does guilt, repression, or self-doubt play a role? This is also the house of spiritual inspiration, cosmic consciousness and enlightenment. Addicts who join support groups are often strongly encouraged to put their faith in a higher power. Even those who doubt the existence of God, can find comfort in tuning into the notion of a higher power. The spirituality found in the twelfth house is more in tune with what some might call "Universal Consciousness." Religious dogma is dissolved along with the boundaries that separate us from other dimensions. Psychic channeling and miraculous healing are higher potentials found in the twelfth house. The twelfth house corresponds to Pisces and so any planets in this house function with some underlying Pisces style. Additionally, the twelfth house represents the influence of past lives, forgiveness, atonement and mysterious disappearances." http://www.skyviewzone.com/astrology/houses.htm#house12 this is one of the BEST interpretations I've read. ------------------ I love the parable, “If you give a man a fish, you feed him for a day, BUT if you teach him how to fish, you feed him for life.” IP: Logged |

I was invoved with someone who had a 12th house mars and they saw their love life the same way. Didn't want anyone involved--at all. Our composite had about 5-6 planets all in the 12th in Scorpio, very tighly packed together. Secret and hidden, is an understatement there, lol. This person resented me so much for being in such an unseen part of themselves and getting/understanding them, even when they didn't or people they'd 'known' so well couldn't (was told something along those lines). I might post that composite one day--difficult soulmate relationship. But spiritually, it 'completely' brought forth my psychic and empathic abilities tied to my 12th house and my POF. When the lesson was learned the relationship ended, for me. All the things I'd uncovered in myself (and them), they now find themselves reflecting and going through a similar process of coming undone...which I imagine is difficult, because now they have to 'fill in the blanks' independently. I got this interpretation of Uranus in the 12th but does anybody have anything more detailed? Uranus in 12th house You tend to be highly intuitive and secretive, with humanitarian ideals. You may have feelings of loneliness. There may be nervous difficulties. There is interest in metaphysical subjects. You may have unique psychic experiences which you keep to yourself for fear of being ridiculed. You have a tremendous desire to feel free and a constant questioning of the meaning of life and of the imperfections you see around you. Unresolved difficulties in your subconscious mind need to be brought out and disposed of. You have a tendency to feel that something is going to "get" you, to sneak up on you, if you are not careful. It is as though you always have a sense of impending doom. You need to overcome this apprehension. Self-control must be developed.
Does anyone have this placement and have a "deep need to save the world and be free but cannot express it?" How useless to have these feelings and then not be able to act on them. It just doesn't make sense. Not my placement anyway thank god lol I can just imagine the turmoil mentally & emotionally for the ppl who have this Uranus in the 12th house. Also the people they hurt because this to me sounds like "Hot & Cold" IP: Logged |
