With any addiction, you can't really stop it. Only he can cut his addiction to cigs lol. It's like with drugs, gambling etc. Decision and ability to carry through with it is all on the person, not the people surrounding them unfortunately. IP: Logged |

Libreo, did you gain any weight?I agree that it takes lots of will power. My dad, the Capricorn, quit on the 1st of January, a few years ago. After a lifetime of smoking, he went from 2-3 packs a day to nothing without any help. I am really proud of him  IP: Logged |

Hi everyone , this is my first time posting . I never intended to introduce myself to LL like this,but I came across this thread and felt the need to add my two cents . I have Gemini in Saturn 9H . I smoke two packs a day . Really wish I never started . I can't recall the name of the astrology book , but the description of Saturn in Gemini (screwed up the first time, lol!) cautioned against smoking by holders of this placement . Anyone else ever heared or read this ?

I've noticed this even in photos.. I have not seen a photo of him where he does not have a cigarette in his mouth or in his hand (and I've seen LOTS of pics form way back in HS - he is 32 now & even in HS he was like this). by isabel hickey? after reading this part in this book in october of this year (saturn in gemini here) (also rising, mars, and venus) i finally quit - cold turkey (hopefully for the last time!)
no patches, pills, gums etc. they just prolong your body's nicotine addiction. the first 2 - 3 days are the hardest (physical withdrawal). after that, it's all mental.
i also recommend the book : the easy way to quit smoking by alan carr.  IP: Logged |

I didn't personally but I know of people who have. I walk every day and I eat pretty healthy, but I also cut out drinking because drinking makes me want to smoke AND eat. So I think cutting back on alcohol made me LOSE weight if anything. Also the Champix does make you nauseaus so the thought of eating isn't too appealing.IP: Logged |

I agree with everyone else, you can't make anyone quit smoking. Unless they themselves want to stop, it's not going to happen.I quit smoking December last year, and very proud I did. It does require will power though.

by Johanna Woolfolk ?
A good ,but basic begining astrology book .
Btw, good job being able to quit smoking cold turkey . Imo , that's a huge thing . Also , Thank You for the recomendation for the book by Alan Carr .------------------

Hahahaha... This thread has been quite entertaining. Anyway, I was going to say that, yes, if you are trying to get the guy to quit, he's going to have to WANT to quit, otherwise it won't ever work. You could try at least putting a bug in his ear that it bothers you though. Not in a derogatory way or anything. You might want to just say something about the AMOUNT he's smoking for now and see how he reacts to that. I too dated a chain smoker once. For some odd reason, though I have always been a non-smoker, I am surrounded by smokers- I'll probably die from secondhand smoke. lol. My Gemini friend has tried, and failed to quit so many times I can't even count them on two hands. The problem is, she usually ends up trying to quit along with our Aries friend, and I really think that they shouldn't try to quit together. If one of them breaks, they both do. My Gemini friend tried Chantix too, and she ended up very depressed and with horrific nightmares (I want to say she might have started hallucinating too), and so she quit that VERY quickly. Smoking is fine, if you don't overdo it. This Gem over does it. That also would mean that he would be super dependent on you in a relationship. Cool people smoke every now and then though. It is what the philosophers do when they feel accomplished or to set the mood. When I smoke, people who are with me want to smoke even if they never have before. They ask can they try it. If there weren't so many additives in the tobacco then I would vote for everyone to smoke. But we all know how those in charge are. Grow your own tobacco and you are set. Also, no woman, ultimately, wants a man that she can change. This seems like it might go down that road. At first, she enjoys changing him but then it becomes too stale and predictable. That is when she wishes that a rebel would take control and whisk her away. hah.IP: Logged |

I am saying this taking into account his chart... not just the fact that smoking has harmful effects. I mean some smokers get lucky and have no serious health issues.
But because he has North Node in Virgo conjunct his Saturn - I think it is a karmic thing for him to be health-wise.
