So here it is.--- I suffer with social anxiety, as I tend to call it. I always wondered if it was something in my chart, but there was nothing I could come up with other than a "bad mercury-neptune square" or a "moon square saturn" making me imagine past relations to be SO Much worse~! Well, I don't believe thats the case. I'm determined to find out what it is. Recently I came across this thread posted which I can very much resonate with. A girl, with the same condition, has aspects similar to mine! But WHICH ASPECTS is it? That is the true question. Do any of you wonderful Astrologers want to play detective, examining both our charts (or reading up on the aspects) and help me get a groovy idea of what could be the trademark/pinpointer of this anxiety?

I'd really appreciate it! She posted her chart after telling us her issue, and then in my response on her thread, I posted my chart.

Link to the thread: http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum11/HTML/003278.html

You can either post your response here or there. Doesn't matter to me. Thanks bunches~!

Sun in negative aspect to saturn. Do you have that aspect like she does? Also, Libra and Cancer are usually the signs to look at for social anxiety.

(She has moon in libra and ascendant in cancer)

Would Saturn inconj Sun count? Sorry to intrude :P

Venus in Libra 12H?

I have the same issue. One-to-one I'm fine but in a group of people I start getting really bad anxiety to the point where I can't even talk.

Hey RunAroundScreaming !
Not to the sun, but I DO have a moon-saturn aspect. Im also LOADS of LIBRA! sun, merc, venus, chir, nodes ... !
-- Her and I both share cancer 3rd house but hers is on the cusp of gemini, so Im not sure if I would count that. Anxiety in the 3rd house of short trips/communication/neighbors/schooling. I didn't know Cancer was a sign of anxiety. Why would that be? :O
Thanks for your response!

Hey Virgolotus !
Your not intruding at all! You are welcome here, by all means! Do you have those placements/aspects?
I'm actually trying to find out. I don't think its saturn either. Your aspect sounds small and hers is at 10 degrees. Though her sun semisquare is at 0deg which is a critical aspect. Do you want to post your chart? I would like to compare all three charts!
Thanks for your response!

I wonder if its venus. Her venus squares her true node which is in the 3rd house. Maybe its just her chiron placing in the 5th--- 5th in astrology is supposed to be affairs/short romances.. But what if that could also mean meeting people in real life and just talking casually with them?

Okay. So I don't think AquaCappy would mind me posting her chart here. If she does, I'll remove it.

I think it might have to do with us being nervous (3H/Mercury) in social situations. Mina and I both have 3 planets in the 3rd which gives us a lot of nervous/mental energy and you have a Gemini ASC and mercury as your chart ruler. Idk I'm a newbie, just a thought.

Theres a possibility! Thats actually a really smart thought and could be the reason. I just don't see how mine would link to.
Speaking of nervous energy, you both have venus-uranus. If my chart wasnt reduced to orb, I'd have the square in the late degrees..

Yes, Libra on the 12th house cusp makes a lot of sense, too, and maybe moon in the 11th (because that would mean a group's opinion is very important to you)

Yes, by negative aspect I meant any negative aspect, even the minor ones.

In my opinion, moon negative aspect to saturn would also give stron social anxiety, but the strongest is sun in negative aspect to saturn because the sun is the strongest element of our personality and our identity.

Basically, if either of your parents, the sun or moon, representing the father or mother, respectively, is negatively aspected by saturn you will have problems with social anxiety NOT ALWAYS but it's quite likely, because they didnt affirm who you were as a person but instead belittled/criticized you.

And i do believe the minor aspects count

Very interesting... Im the same way, I love meeting people and am friendly/ outgoing after getting comfortable. Im very shy at first, ackward being center of attention and public speaking/presentations freak me out. I have singleton Pisces Moon in the 3rd squares Sun in the 12th, opposition to Saturn in the 9th. Actually might be a T sq as Saturn squares my Sun, also Sun square Moon. I get along fairly well with my dad, lots of disharmony with my mom though. Good point on parental lack of affirmation bringing difficulty for the person to be confident with strong sense if self

Desiring Shadows -

I did go to the other thread that AquaCappy started and I responded with my own similarities to all the posts. You can check it out.

But in terms of comparing the two of your Charts, you both have Saturn in Pisces. Please read what I wrote to her about that. Very important.

Also, you both have most of your Planets in the 5th - 10th Houses.

You have a mutual reception Saturn Pisces/Neptune Capricorn. Here's the deal with Neptune/Saturn & Capricorn/Pisces, they are not compatible. One wants to escape/dream, the other wants boundaries/structure. So this is a general theme in your life, when you're going too far in either direction and how to keep Saturn from criticizing Neptune and how to keep Neptune from feeling hemmed in by Saturn. The only time these 2 are good for each other, is when Neptune has gone off the deep end into chaos, then adding Saturn is helpful, schedules/self restraint. Or when Saturn becomes too rigid, then adding Neptune eases the burden. Now that that's on the table, they are both sq to personal planets, Neptune to Merc/Venus, Saturn to Moon. So this back and forth creates stress on a personal level, how far to go in relation to another, when are you wanted, when are people tired of you, who to believe, how much can you trust them, are they telling you the truth, are they trying to say things to make you feel good but are lies, can they believe the love you have for them, etc. But they are squares so they are bound up inside, it is self talk, and it is hard to get objective on them, on what their effects are in reality. You also have Neptune/Uranus sq NN which can lead to feeling alienated and wanting to escape. The strongest sq to the node is Uranus, and Uranus is in the 9th, so there is some philosophy you're carrying with you, some belief that is tripping you up, taking rebelling against the system too far perhaps. Maybe you adhere to it to stand out, but if you push it too far since it's so closely sq the nodal axis you will start to feel v.odd and out of place. You have a very extroverted NN, in 5th, in Libra, so the partnership with another is something to work on, finding ways that you and another are similar, vs.different. Add to this, the fact that Saturn has been going over your Libra placements for past yr and a half which could add to the anxiety. It looks like a free floating anxiety, coupled with a tendency to negative self-talk, like something swirling around looking to grab onto whatever, whenever. But it's strange because pile ups in the 5th point to child like qualities, wanting the attention on you. Sun trine ASC from 5th adds to this. I think you may perceive people to be paying more attn to you than they actually are, so consider that as a factor. You're meant to get attention with Sun in the 5th, so you're gonna have to learn to deal with the anxiety about it somehow. This spotlight feeling can add a quality of self consciousness all its own combined with the Saturn/Neptune sq personal planet aspects that basically underestimate your self worth and doubts about your attractiveness.

Mina has Uranus sq NN tho not as closely. It's also opp Venus. She has an extroverted stellium in Leo in the 3rd, but it's covered by a sensitive Cancer Asc which worries, is defensive, and can perceive slights where none exist, and considering that the ASC ruler Moon is conj Mars, has an increased tendency to be a touchy person, hypersensitive to rejection/imagined slights. Along with that, Libra Mars is sq the ASC. Libra Mars is not typically v.assertive, but when sq Asc she may provoke others unwittingly, and due to some tense interactions, since Mars is conj the Moon and in Libra which needs partnership, the negative experience might have her turn in on herself, just to avoid these reactions, since Moon in Libra is typically sensitive to the other. But she invites them, even if in a passive aggressive way, so she has to own up to her part in the picture. Cancer ASC has strengths all its own, but in some people it takes em longer to find how it can work for them, instead of wanting to run and hide at the slightest sign of danger. But Mars is still sq the ASC/DSC axis so that has to be dealt with.

All of you have either sun or moon in negative aspect to saturn, even if it's a minor aspect it still counts.

Libra or cancer combined with moon or sun in negative aspect to saturn would make it more likely that you're socially anxious because those are the two least independent signs. Cancer always feels that nobody loves them, Libra has a lot of insecurities as well and always needs to have a partner (well, they both do, really. Just cancer is less likely to get with anyone since they're too busy being convinced that nobody loves them)

Thank you all for all of your posts! I read them all!

Lonake: Lonake, that was very helpful! MK, so I just need to work on that. For both of us i guess its just varies factors that take into play anxiety..

BackToEarth: Read them!

RAS: Agreed, saturn really can cramp someones energy. Thank you for your input!
