I've been around goths and I think the majority of them are much more low key than many seem to think. They're generally not like on TV and on internet porn sites (granted, the stereotypes exist and are most easily remembered by those who don't have much to do with the subculture). And while I'd say a great many goths do take real pride in their appearance and can go to extremes, it's usually a lot more subtle (and only rarely slutty *) than many think it is (and some aren't even recognized as goths by non goths even when they spend a lot of time gothing up, though other goths usually have no problem recognizing him or her as one of their own). (* most goths I've known actually have a more romantic and conservative approach to sexuality, though they're much more open minded toward gender bending & alternative sexualities, and I've found most goth hangouts a pleasant break from the meat market vibe of most other bars and clubs.) There are so many types of goths, but I think one very common theme is most aren't comfortable in the present. Some live more in the future (and can actually look more like ravers) but even more live in the past, particularly Victorian times. I tend to associate them with Romantics (such as Edgar Allen Poe) as well. A goth with money is likely to make antique store owners very happy (though not the ones that seem like refugees from some cyberpunk future). As for which signs would seem to mix best with the gothic subculture I'd say offhand that Pisces is for the great many with mystical and/or artistic natures, Scorpio for those obsessed with things like vampires (which seems far less common than many think), Libra for those who love Victorian fashions (though the more extreme ones who go all out and tend to judge others harshly, shunning those who don't live up to their exacting standards might be more Leo), manners, classics, and intermingling in soothing surroundings, and Aquarius for those who "come from the future." I personally liked the goths that I knew in high school. A fair number of them were incredibly talented in art. I didn't feel like they were as judge-y as some of the other cliques. (I myself was one of those "free agent" kids who circulated between a few groups and didn't really have one sub-group to which I belonged). IP: Logged |

Sun in 8th house, I'm not very fond of black and I believe Black suits everyone so if someone tells me it suits me, its just usual for everyone.I hate long-nails, black nail colour, chains and heavy make up. I'd rather prefer a natural makeup, lip gloss neutral and clean look. Virgo Rising ------------------ Pity from an Aries is worse than their contempt \m/ www.lenormanddraws.blogspot.com IP: Logged |

Oh no lol there is no way everyone looks good in black ha. You have to have contrast to look good in it, and if your personality is too airy fairy you can't do it either. If you're all blah then it washes you out cos it's strong.IP: Logged |

Lol we used to call my best friend "gothic princess" in high school, she has a Scorp stellium of Sun, Moon, Mercury and Pluto.I like dark things and clothing. I wouldn't call my style traditionally goth, though. Like I think corsets are passé. I do like to wear black on black but it's more punk than goth. I only have Pluto in Scorpio and no 8th house placements. eta: Should also say that my "gothic princess" bff wasn't really goth, just wore a lot of black because she worked at a hair salon so she had a lot of black attire. This is pretty much what she looked like: Plus a few linen thrift store dresses. She is Virgo Rising with Mercury in Scorpio. IP: Logged |

I like corsets myself, but not as outerwear; that just looks tacky. Underwear, yes, outerwear, no. IP: Logged |

Oh, I love underwire. I don't want to look saggy or for my chest to be Jabba the Hutt-ish. Underwire is my friend. I also like padded/"bullet" bras (like the ones they had in the '50s). Comfort, schmumfort. I want to look good. I'm a Libra, enough said. I admit to a bit of vanity (OK, more than a bit).

I definitely dive into the gothic sides of things, more vamp than anything really. I love wearing black, i love anything black lace, but i don't like long frilly sleeves or high necked shirts, and I've never been into The Cure. I tend to prefer more the Amy Lee style of gothic - I LOVE corsets, but I only have one and I've only worn it once so far, but daaamn did I feel sexy.IP: Logged |

Scorpio ASC Scorpio Venus in 1st house Scorpio Pluto conjunct ASC 8th house ruler conjunct Sun, NeptuneI like a somewhat-goth look. I wear a lot of dark colors...black, grey, dark red, jewel tones...lots of lace, soft fabrics, layered clothing, tight clothing, cleavage-bearing clothing..dark, simple jewelry. Dark or naked nails. I love dark or heavy eye makeup. I also love to wear dark sunglasses. And boots. My taste in music is similar...heavy, dark, gloomy metal. For the record, i am a Capricorn sun. I think the Cap/Scorp combo gives a distinct taste for anything dark and morose. IP: Logged |

ya know what they say about certain labels, "it's not a look it's a state of mind."I'm a Scorpio Moon Pluto Lilith with 8th house Uranus and Neptune stationary rx All I got to say is, I wear big glasses. Am I a hipster...no. I do wear them to see. And they turn into sunglasses in sun. I appear to be a square though. But get to know me well, my wild side will come out. IP: Logged |

How many have heard of the perkies, or perky goths? http://www.blackwaterfall.com/8perky.php (Though I personally wouldn't count Voltaire as a perky, though his songs and books are often hilarious, a favorite of mine and I used to sing Voltaire's Demon Slayer to a girl with terrible nightmares, and also a couple of times with a boy I help raise.) You have to watch them, however. I found one delightful to be around but after I got a car she shanghaied me into giving her rides everywhere. Despite the expense I suppose I wouldn't have minded but she'd play this one song over & over again. I have mixed feelings that I can't recall the singer/band or song (though if I ever hear it again I'll know it), but it could be a entered into a contest for the perky goth theme song. One day I ejected the tape (this was 2001 and my car was a Dodge Omni from the 80s) and threw it under the seat, not letting her get it back until we reached our destination. The very next time I gave her a ride she put it in and as soon as she made the song replay I did the same thing. That time she pulled out another tape (from her purse) and put it in...same song. Sighing I asked how many copies she'd made and I forget the exact number now but it was a lot. I laugh about it now (but also wouldn't put up with it today as I did back then) but at the time I was wondering if she was conducting some secret test on my sanity. All I know about her natal chart is that she was born Sag (possibly on the Scorpio cusp since she her birthday was in November), I don't have any other details. I'm wondering if her playing that same song over & over means a lot of planets in fixed signs or not? IP: Logged |

neat site pixie ohmygosh! I can't stand it when someone has to play a song over and over when they hang out with ya. It's like even if the song is good, or okay...I'm going to hate it now!And I love makeup, I don't do goth looks all the time though, just once in a while.

I like wearing goth fashion, and love keeping my skin pale. I have Sun in the 8th House, with Venus conjunct Pluto in the MC, so I get goth vibes. For both clothes and makeup, I accessorize, but don't go over the top. Take makeup for instance-- when I do my eyes, I make sure that there is a gradient that goes from really pigmented to faded on my eyelids. I take my fashion cues from Siouxsie Sioux. People just can't put paint on their faces, otherwise they look like clowns. For the goth look, subtle accessorizing is the way to go. I have a bunch of goth clothing sites bookmarked and also love to shop for goth/alternative clothes. IP: Logged |

@Pixie I looked at the website. Lol. I'm really going for the traditional type. But my everyday looks are natural makeup or no makeup at all. I do wear sunscreen and skin care products every day, though. Here's another fashion website I came across: http://www.my-virtual-makeover.com/whats-your-style.html I'm more of the rock chick and gothic types. IP: Logged |

I have Sun conjunct Neptune in Sag and Venus in Scorpio in a Scorpio ruled 8th House. In high school I wore all black clothes, black leather jacket/combat boots, had long died black hair, piercings, wore black eyeliner, nail polish, and occasionally black lipstick. People at school thought my girlfriend and I were vampires HAha. My room throughout adolescence had black carpet and a black ceiling, full length mirrors, wrought iron chains and hanging lamps, candles with melted wax over skulls, a pagan altar, incense always burning, big black leather bed, and blood red/black cloth draped in strategic areas (preferably over the windows where the Sun could possibly touch my skin). Black is still my favorite color and I appreciate the Goth style, but I insisted on training my self to wear colors. If for any reason, because it was giving off the wrong impression. With Pluto opposed my ASC, though I thought the style was beautiful, people were actually scared of me until I struck up a conversation with them. Once that warm Sag/Neptune Sun started shining, they were caught completely off guard. I was told once, "You are by far the happiest dead person I have ever met" LOL. IP: Logged |

I have Venus/Pluto conjunction in scorpio in the 8th, and this aspects other things.i don't have an exact standard way of dressing, but I do dress in deep and dark, or very intense vibrant colors. Like vibrant pure red is intense, yet not dark. And deep teal as an example of dark . I don't do all black at once. It looks too gloomy. If I want to keep it all dark, I'll combine black with a deep colored piece. My style, is inspired by Victorian,1920's, Rock,And today's elegant goth fashion. I think the term is noir fashion.I don't wear heavy makeup. Especially not during the day.I keep it very simple for day time. thin Winged eyeliner, and fill in my brows. and sometimes with a deep lip color.at night, i like my makeup more dramatic. Sometimes I'm feelin "witchy" lol, and I'll add some "witchy" elements to my outfit. Like my claw nails , yet still not looking like some bum witch. But i change it up, like i said i don't have a standard style. Sometimes im feeling for a touch of pinup,. Or glam goth.or casual. But the colors are usually always on the dark/vivid side. i like a lot of leather too.... 90's goth is just horrible to me. i live for creepy/horror shows/films. meditation, witchcraft, magic, and anything along those lines, i am very very curious about.but i try not to mingle with it. Some examples of what types of outfits I'm into i bought this on ebay(thank god for ebay) IP: Logged | |
