My friend Roger is a brilliant fantasy writer (soon to be published), a master punster and a story teller. He writes fantasy novels - 'swords-n-sorcery' - at a rate of hundreds of thousands of words. He's been writing for decades. He was born with a multitude of Mercury aspects, least of which is a conjunction to Venus. Shown here are the declinations. See the parallels with Mercury in north declination marked on the right? Sun-Venus-Uranus and Pluto if you use an orb of 1*35'. These are all aligned parallel his MC [22N33] and those are all aligned contra-parallel Jupiter [22S53]. IP: Logged |

Wow, sun in gemini, neptune in the 12th and jupiter on the third that just happens to be in sag. It's almost like his creativity is meant to blow up - in a good way! Congrats to your friend! IP: Logged |

I'm a gifted poet and prose writer. I write in a confessional style, think Sexton, Plath, and a little of Sharon Olds all mixed together. I write with extreme depth and passion. I usually write when I am struck by tragedy or my heart feels like it's breaking - some of my best work has come out during those times. Music is also a huge factor for me in writing; I can be extremely involved in the music and it inspires me a lot. I unfortunately have a bad habit of starting way too many literary projects all at once but some poetry has already claimed me some awards which I am moderately proud of. My writing skills are very advanced for my age, 17, and most people can't believe how much older my writing makes me seem. Many of my natal aspects explain this. Saturn in the 3rd - made me have a mature speaking and writing voice and seriousness of thought from young age Ruler of 8th in the 9th - brings that intense emotion to writing/thinking Ruler of 9th in the 10th, the Sun in Libra - makes me want to have an unconventional and artistic career, including publishing Ruler of the 3rd in the 2nd - I suppose this also supports my desire to make money off of my ability to communicate, also this one leads me to think I'll one day write a lot of speeches which I considered doing for money Mercury in the 11th in Scorpio, Sag duad - intensity of thought, probing mind but Sad duad is why I seem to have 25 projects going all at once! 9th house Moon, well aspected, trine 2nd house planets - I have the writer's moon placement. Many writers have 9th house Moon for vivid creative thinking. Mercury trine 3rd house Saturn, square Mars - makes me very serious about writing and my words often carry a significant weight and purpose behind them IP: Logged |

A strong Mercury.Mercury on the ascendant or other angle.Mercury as ruler of the chart.Gemini midheaven. The sign, house placement and aspects will reveal the style and more.Sun/Mercury,usually very bright and natural storytellers--Moon/Mercury emotionally based good with details,Moon/Neptune fantasy oriented, etc.Strong Virgo and Gemini in the chart.IP: Logged |

Is this the article you were talking about? It goes on about how different writers' natal charts influenced their subject, genre, and style: http://www.angelfire.com/ca2/rosemurray/NovelistArticle.html I think Mercury/Neptune aspects might indicate a talent for storytelling or love for poetry, but does not necessarily make a good writer. By "good writer" I mean someone who doesn't necessarily come up with imaginative plots and characters, but someone who genuinely loves language and knows how to use it (strong Mercury/strong third house) and whose ego/identity is intertwined into their writing (Sun-Mercury/1st-3rd placements). George Orwell has quite the chart. Mercury conjunct Pluto in Gemini near his Gemini MC… also a Virgo AC. Check it out: http://www.astro.com/astro-databank/Orwell,_George
I've always loved writing and I have an obsession with words. My Sun is in the third house along with my Mercury and Mars. Unfortunately I have a Mercury-Mars conjunction in Sagittarius AND it's square Jupiter-- let's just say it's hard for me to finish anything longer than a poem. I love satire and generally my writing voice is a bit snarky and sarcastic.
