My 3rd house cusp is Aqua, ruled by Uranus in Scorpio…. But it’s the same for everybody in my generation with Aqua on the 3rd to have the cusp ruled by Uranus in Scorpio. You’d think we all only like new alternative hard rock or something. Ha ha. Not the case for me. Although I do like to keep up with what’s popular on the charts just to make sure I don’t miss anything good. Your never know, you might miss a really good song if you rule out all new music. It’s hard to say that I ‘hate’ anything in terms of genre because I love all types of music, as long as it’s pleasing to the ear. There might be particular songs that I hate because they sound ‘ugly’ to me, but not entire genres… Except from something really obscure, like polka music. Personally, the music I like seems to resonate more with my 1st house…. Sag rising, with Venus and the Sun in the 1st house. I love old 80’s and 90’s music. In the 80’s they had a way of making music sound ‘epic’, and the 90’s is when I came of age so that time period resonates with me. There’s no way I could ever pick a favorite song or artist… I love literally hundreds, maybe even thousands of songs… As long as the music sounds good /is pleasing to the senses, it doesn’t matter what genre it is… pop, hip hop, R&B, alternative, rock, country, techno, movie sound tracks and themes, old hits, new hits…. Even classical, and new age vibrational stuff…. I’ll listen to it if I like the melody/beat/rhythm/flow of it… And I probably know every hit since about 1970, and also most of the stuff before that… (Perhaps Venus in Sagittarius opposite Jupiter gives a strong appetite for liking many different types of music, and not wanting to limit yourself to one or two genres) The style/genre of music I like to listen to changes depending on my mood… If I’m revved up… It’s fast aggressive sounding music with a strong beat… If I’m feeling more mellow, it’s sweet romantic songs.… If I’m feeling moody, it’s darker more tormented sounding stuff… And if I’m feeling upbeat, it’s fun dance music….You get the picture. And, in keeping with my prominent Venus, I really do enjoy a good love song/ ballad (of any style)…. Ones that really move you, and make you feel… And just put you in a refreshed mood… Or make you give a sentimental sigh…And I do tend to prefer the happy life affirming type love songs to the depressing sad stuff most of the time (Venus in Sag again maybe)….But every now and then, sometimes I’m in the mood for the more broody stuff as well…. (Venus trine to Saturn, and quintile Pluto). My Venus is at 29 Sag…. Putting it in a Leo decan, and Scorpio Duad…. I think the Sag part makes me like joyful, hopeful, celebratory type music…. Like dance, or pop love songs…. The Leo decan part makes me like music where you can really feel the passion of the singer through the song. And music that really puts you in touch with how profound, or special, a certain experience really was though the changing intensity of it’s melody and rhythm…. Any music that has a feeling of grandeur, and heartfelt passion about it... (I feel that a lot of 80’s music has a strong Leo vibe to it)…. And the Scorpio duad is that little part of me that occasionally likes serious haunting melodies, and emotional contemplative ballads, or dark aggressive sounding music…. As well as songs that really put you in touch with the emotional undertones occurring between people… Also, in keeping with a prominent Venus…. How the music sounds tends to be more important then the lyrics to me, in terms of weather or not I like it…. Don’t get me wrong…. If I can resonate with the lyrics and love how it sounds as well, this makes a song even better…. But if it came down to priorities… I rank the beauty of the music above lyrics (although I won’t listen to offensive lyrics even if I like the melody)…. Some recent songs that have caught my attention… ‘Teenage Dream’ by Katy Perry ‘Midnight City’ by m8s ‘Super Bass’ by Nicki Minaj ‘Don’t Wake Me Up’ by Chris Brown (not that I condone him, just like the song) ‘I Won’t Give Up’ Jason Mraz I know there are plenty of others, only I can’t think of them right now. Asc in Sagittarius Aquarius 3rd house cusp, ruled by Uranus in Scorpio Sun in Capricorn in the 1st house Moon in Cancer in the 8th house Venus in Sagittarius in the 1st house, trine Saturn, opposite Jupiter, semi square Uranus, quintile Pluto… Mars in Leo in the 9th house Jupiter in Cancer in the 7th house IP: Logged |

my 3rd house is sag and my mars is there! i'll give anything a listen! but im partial to lyrics that strike my heartstrings just so! and vocals that make me want to sing along. so thats mostly like pop music hahaha right now i've been singing along to the band perry's "if i die young" although if i'm too tired then i want a quick fix and i don't have too much tolerance for songs that don't really interest me. typically i don't like metal or screamy music because its too loud and i can't make sense of all the noise but if someone wanted to listen to it i'd hear it with them I like to be interactive with music!

3rd house: AquariusMusic I like: opera, classical, medieval, some rock, some pop, Gregorian chant, string instruments, anything really beautiful Music I dislike: rap (mainly the lyrics because of the vulgarity; I do like some of the beats, though), country (old school is OK like Patsy Cline, but I don't like a lot of modern country, though Lady Antebellum has some good songs and is an exception to that rule), anything too harsh and unpleasant, screamo I like music that's 'real' (as in, without machines), but some machine music is OK. I don't like auto-tune, though. Mainly, machine music that I like would be like '80s stuff (because come on, it's fun!) and if the machine contribution is more with the instruments than the vocal parts. I don't mind instrumental machine music, like techno, but I don't want to listen to it all of the time--have to be in the mood. I like it when singers write their own songs. IP: Logged |

Why does everyone hate Lana del Rey? (I'm honestly asking). I can understand not being a fan of someone, but it just seems like a lot of people have really strong feelings about her for some reason. Did she do something or cause some controversy that I may not have heard about? I don't think that she's the best singer ever, but I don't think she's the worst, either. And for those saying her personality, what is it that bothers you? Again, honestly curious. I've only heard like two of her songs, so I'm not sure what the fuss is about for those who strongly don't like her. Just trying to get clued in! IP: Logged |

I don't hate her, but I can see why a lot of other people would. Her persona was literally crafted overnight, she's the daughter of a billionaire, and she has zero talent. She is basically everything that is wrong with music today. If she had JUST been a model and not also tried to craft a hipster music career, she would not be getting this much negative press.IP: Logged |

Ah, see, I didn't know that she came from money. As for her voice: is it all auto-tuned? Does she just lip-sync in public or something? IP: Logged |

I've had "Summertime Sadness" stuck in my head all day.Personally, I don't see why it matters if someone gets some plastic surgery done if they have the money. I stopped comparing myself to them because they've had extra help and I haven't, and they therefore have an unfair advantage (in the case of voluntary/non-reconstructive surgery). It doesn't say anything about them as an artist. Plus, to be fair, there is so much pressure on women to look perfect. It's even worse for famous women, since (a) women on TV/stage/in movies/other famous women are expected to look perfect at all times; (b) their livelihoods often depend on it; (c) they have even more people seeing them and casting judgment on them; (d) cameras add pounds, so they have to be super-skinny just to look thin/normal on camera. So, I don't judge celebrities for doing that. I prefer natural looks, but I can understand the scrutiny that they are under, and that their careers are influenced by how they look even more so than the average woman. IP: Logged |

Her image is inauthentic (check her out before her make over....google Lizzie Grant, you can tell a marketing team got their hands on her) and her music just copies the sound thats popular now (yet other bands do it better--Beach House, for one). It's the same problem I have with Lady Gaga. And the weird baby voice she does sometimes is annoying. She was crafted to pander to cool kids on Tumblr. I like LDR's videos though because Bradley Soileau is super fine. IP: Logged |

well, to be fair, though, isn't everyone in showbiz's image inauthentic, at least to an extent? Lady Gaga, I'm not really into, though I have to admit that "Poker Face" is catchy. IP: Logged |

Hi I just gotta get in on this discussion even tho it's a coupla months out. Music is fairly the center of my universe. If I have to go without it for however long a period of time, I literally start going thru withdrawals..well not the kind where one needs to be ankle chained to the table .. but I start growing discontent. And not just any music will do..but if I was stuck with only, let's say a genre I can't tolerate ordinarily--metal, or worse horn-ed jazz you can bet I'd be banging the hell out of it. And then also..the popular and fluff I have little regard for. Especially the popular. I've always been down with the underground. Not likethat. I suppose the very idea of musical obscurity appeals to me because it's like finding rare precious gems that fewer people have had the experience of so it holds something far more personal than the played over overplayed. I mean if it's really stellar material(that, being a matter of perspective of course) that you feel like "damn, this song should have been a smash freaking hit--household term status!"..then wow..makes ya feel like you've got information priceless that you wanna share with everyone(ear ringing right now)you come into contact with. I've always been looking for music that *blends together metaphysical/spiritual ideologies and truths with positivity, promoting peace, love, brotherhood, unity.* I know, not a unique idea..but then again, it really is because very few artists actually demonstrate this very relevant, necessary and desired theme. Much less actually practicing it as the way of life. But I have to laugh at myself right now as I'm listening to FUBAR. I feel that every human being(and not limited to the human realm)is(or once was)hard-wired for these ideas. The "survival -of-the-fittest" and food-chain, Darwinian lies, lies, falsification and fabrication--none of that is real and so cannot ever apply outside of this construct(matrix)..even in the matrix it's a fail. Bizarro world, indeed this is....but anyway. The Third House itself I would not have suspected plays a significant musical part in ones natal however I suppose a third house stellium in Aries(with Aries/Libra intercepted), involving the sun, mercury and mars as I was born with, as well as Venus in Aquarius(1st house)sets the tone(no pun intended) for the love of rhythm and drums and electified instrumentation. Life-force generating sustenance. If it doesn't give me a spinal rush upwards and out or move me in some significant way..I'm not into it. Not for long. And there are other indicators in my chart that point to music in a significant way..so the third house as a one never occurred to me. Great information, thanks for putting it out there lovehate122. It does seem like an adequate dose of Aries/Aquarius aptly placed loves a good beat at the very least. In a new thread in Lindaland Central 2.0 I'll provide a link to *the kind of music I'm talking about* ~Peace~ IP: Logged |

Lana Del Rey is at the forefront right now. Right behind her are the kooky Nicki Minaj and Lady Gaga. I think I may need to diversify, but I dunno, I'm good how I am rn. I love the deep sounds of Lana and all her instruments. Then Nicki's party music just gets me going, and Gaga is pretty diverse as it is. (They all have a Capricorn Mars, which fall in my Fifth House...hmm...) IP: Logged |

sag 3h cusp uranus there i dont listen to mainstream if i can help it. there are a few exceptions.i do listen to a few sag artists as it goes. i'm a massive rap nerd, but its 95% US independent stuff from the 90's through til now. i really like the obscure, gritty, futuristic space rap type shiz lol. el-p, aesop rock, cage. cannibal ox is one of my favourite albums of all time, the production has been referred to as sounding like 'pots and pans falling down stairs' LOL also 12th house appeal (virgos): amy winehouse, alex clare, atmosphere atmosphere make great conscious, soulful, and melodic hip hop. often sad, sometimes angry, but always GREAT whoever mentioned handsome boy modelling school earlier gets a massive high five IP: Logged | |
