Weight Gain TransitsWhich transits put you at risk of gaining weight? Weight gain is traditionally associated with the planet Jupiter. Jupiter represents excess and expansion. In transits, Jupiter can make you carefree in regards to the activities the planet and house represents. Jupiter transits your Ascendant or ruler of your 1st house When Jupiter transits your Ascendant or ruler of your 1st house, an “expansion” of your physical body may occur. It is important to exercise discipline at this time, as Jupiter tends towards excess. You may feel overindulgent at this time, but may feel too optimistic and carefree to pay attention to what you eat. Jupiter transits your natal Venus Venus is traditionally associated with sweets, so when Jupiter transits your natal Venus, you may experience intense cravings for chocolate, candy, cookies, cakes, etc.. Venus also represents pleasure and indulgence, so it is important to be careful about what you eat when Jupiter transits this planet. Jupiter transits the 6th house or ruler of the 6th house Diets and exercise routines may be put on the backburner during this cycle. You become carefree about your diet and exercise regimen during this transit. Jupiter tends to increase laziness and increase cravings during this transit. On the other hand, Jupiter may work the opposite way; you may feel more positive and energetic at this time, which may lead you to put more energy into your diet and exercise routines. http://astrolady.wix.com/astrolady#!weight-gain-transits/c1fdr IP: Logged |

Thanks for the kind response, Sorcha! It kinda makes me feel good that you got some additional "learning" from the experience...though I agree it's not fun to carry around extra weight. ...I hope you're right about me being able to keep it off, as Jupiter is currently rolling back and forth over my DSC (exactly opposite my natal Jupiter), ready to "leave the building" (...as I sit here stuffing my face with buttered popcorn). Reading some of the further suggestions posted by Starfairy in the other weight loss thread (linked below), the idea of Saturn transiting one's ASC/1st house as also being helpful for discipline in that area gives me hope, as in a few months time I'll be having that transit. ...Hopefully, I won't have gained it all back by then! ...And here's wishing you some of that Jupiter expansion of FUN you were hoping for! You will have to keep us posted about how Progressed Jupiter is treating you. Bumping this because it relates to Crissy's recent query about astrology and weight loss.

Now that is interesting, Gabby. The Jupiter in your 7th... Hmm. You depend on a partner for your expansion--bodily as well!

And I keep gaining weight! And it seems I'm always hungry no matter how much I eat and I still want more - well, not me, my stomach. I thought maybe it was astro-myth but I'm finding it harder and harder to keep my girlish figure and I'm starting to think it's a Jupiter thing. Has anyone else experienced this happening while Tr. Jupiter was in your first house?
Natal Jupiter is in Libra, either in my first house or twelfth, depending on what house system is used or if whatever or whomever is making the chart feels like grabbing Jupe and throwing him in the first house when really he is in the twelfth. Astrologers can be funny that way when planets are too close to house cusps...Anyway, I used to be so skinny but then I gained a few pounds but lost it due to exercise and diet and now I am almost back down to where I used to be so yeah, Jupiter can make you a bit overweight. It's best to not eat so much, even when feeling a compulsion to do it. I only eat once a day but feel like I want to eat once an hour. It's a struggle. So far, I am winning it!

Hmm... Rx Jupiter in Gemini is now transiting and opposing my ASC. AND I AM EATING WAY TOO MUCH. Help! I'm getting the curse. Way too much fast food, candy, etc. I'm lucky my metabolism is kinda fast, luckily Jupiter isn't in an Earth sign like Taurus either... Gem influence probably helps. I'm really loving the tastes of food now, more than ever. It helps me relieve stress. Jupiter is as always the kind of overindulgence and trust me... I feel more aware of my 'fatness' that I perceive [I'm a size 4-6 though which isn't fat, but I also was a 0 in the past 2 years and anorexic at one time so this is not easy even as a recovered person to deal with actually]. I feel SO badly I wanna lose a bit and get fit and muscled again but this nasty transit and Rx too is making me so prone to eating a lot and not having energy to burn it off... and also feeling my exercise I can do is having ANY effect on my weight. BOOHOO. IP: Logged |

Right now Jupiter r in Gem forms a lovely trine to the stellium on my asc Libra. Unfortunately it also squares my Virgo sun and I am wanting to eat french fries at Jack In The Box. Something I have successfully avoided all year until now. I want to over indulge during the holidays and diet the rest of the year. Just now I put a frozen pizza in the oven. What is it about Jupe and junk food? IP: Logged |

^same here, tJup in 9th trine ac, and natal jupiter.feels good man. i'm definitely experiencing accelerated learning at this time. however self indulgence is and to some degree always has always been a problem...luckily saturn in second is keeping a literal lid on things, for what feels like the first time ever... Transiting Jupiter Rx is also in opposition to my Ascendant (in Sagittarius) and exactly the same thing is happening to me! My appetite has dramatically increased and I put on 7 pounds in a week! IP: Logged |

I wish people would stop blaming Jupiter for weight gain. I lost weight from the transit. It really depends on various transits at the time.IP: Logged |
