I think you'll get some very interesting reactions from the Gemini depending on how things go.

Let's say you promise him you'll pick him up at work and you don't show up.

I will stay quiet and passive for now but try to reason what I'm lacking, correct it and build myself up so I can win later.

Or if i'm in an overkill situation, say "bring a gun to a knife fight" and the situation is completely in my favor then I'm not so passive.

Think of it like a race, look at yourself in the mirror and be honest do you think you will win?

If not don't compete, watch how the other athletes practice during the off-season.

Then at the minimum match what there doing and if you can do it better then race against them the next time and win.

I can't speak for all Cancer mars, but I can speak for anyone with similar chart placements as me.

I'd say this placement whould make the person constantly have a risk-assessment mindset.

If they don't feel its safe to show there affection for someone then they'll wait when its safe to do so.

For your Gem I think if he tries to make conversation with you he likes you, you just have to pick up the clues with a Gemini sun.

I know it sounds generic, For the Taurus take away the fact that he has a Cancer mars and just think what does a Taurus generally do when they like someone.
