How is it difficult? I have it and I get along alright, actually.

It's more about the person and how they handle a placement more than about a placement itself.

I have it too - in the 29th degree /and/ opposite Neptune-Uranus. Neptune is my IC ruler. I had a really difficult childhood with a lot of combative women hurting me emotionally and hurting my self-esteem [cancer = mother/females].

I try to channel the highly creative parts of this placement and the aspects that go along with it. You can become a very wonderful nurturing person with this placement as well. If you have Mars-Pluto it will invigorate your Mars into becoming stronger and you might learn how to, for example, use your intuitive and healing energies to pull through tough times. Aspects can really determine how you can make more out of it.

I'm not sure I really believe in the concepts of planets 'in fall' anymore, either.

Simply because, think about it...how is actually not being all that aggressive (Mars) in general, unless you're out to protect (Cancer) someone or something, really a bad thing?

When I sat down and thought about it I went, "How is that negative? If anything, that's how everyone should be, not willing to fight over anything unless it's something that matters, instead of always wanting to get into it over bulls**t."

Like I said before, I actually think it's a pretty good placement, and I think the people who have it and complain about it just don't really know how to handle theirs yet, or they have other chart factors making it hard for them in that respect.

Mars in Cancer isn't 'weak', either. Again, it's more about the desire to not fight unless it's absolutely necessary, and something that matters. When there's something or someone Mars in Cancer has to fight on behalf of...it could probably give Mars in Scorpio or Aries a run for its money.

My nature is passive-aggressive and I wish to change it.

I also have a Mars-Neptune opposition that interprets that I have difficulty going after what I want. I don't like this aspect because my Mars is in in the 10th house which I believe is the house of career.

I've been trying to find information on an interpretation of a Retrograde Mars in Cancer. No luck really but I did find this:

quote:

MARS RETROGRADE

* reconsiders before expressing anger
* finds competitive situations hard to handle
* tends to repress and so ....
* can become depressed

What often results are upsets and frustrations in daily life as emotions which should be externalized become internalized; a kind of chewing up one’s self. When you finally explode, it is as likely as not that in doing so you will be acting out aggressively against your own self interest.

Honestly, Mars in Cancer isn't that bad. Depends what you want, I guess! Like, Mars in Cancer is considered fall because it's a placement that sways towards inactivity whereas Capricorn Marses are often driven and very achievement-oriented. But inactivity isn't bad! In fact, the activity is often emotional and introspective. You might sit in one place for a long time but your emotions may be never still, for example! You'd rather keep in place than climb mountains because that place is what you're comfortable with.

I'm not sure what to say on how to use it, since Leo Mars is what I got stuck with. I'll go out on a limb and say don't measure yourself by other Mars placements, just work in your comfort level and at your own pace. Success is different for everyone!

Mars retrograde in Cancer gives you more access than most to empathy and protective nurturing. Use your heightened feelings (and passion) to respond to your partner instead of reacting.

What does this mean?

goatcat: and cuddling.

One thing I've noticed about "weak" Mars placements is they're cuddly and loveable instead of sex-y and whatnot...

My Libra Mars ex always complained we were too naughty!

Well, let's say that I have to tell my mom I'm moving in with my boyfriend within the next couple of months. How do I find the courage to do this?

My Mars in Cancer is going to keep putting off the much needed conversation until I'm comfortable enough to talk to her about it, but I know that I will never be comfortable enough.
