My b/f has this placement. Sometimes it seems like it completely takes over. He can be so critical with words and gets in these moods where he nit picks everything I do/say/think ugh. I dunno how many times I've said
"You're not my dad,you know"
My dad has a virgo moon lol.
Always asking me if I remembered that appointment, did I call that person...all the details that would make a mercury in leo's head spin, which would be me...

He gets uncomfortable if I talk too loud. I can understand it sometimes because we live across the street from a Catholic church so if we are outside, sometimes I say things that would make Mother Theresa roll in her grave and Im not shy about it. But if we are out being social, and I am being loud and laughing a lot, it still makes him uncomfortable.

Sorry this isn't astrology-related, but I SO relate to being loud and having to be shushed, lol. We live right next door to an extremely religious family and sometimes I'll walk outside while having a disagreement with one of my parents (or my mom will walk outside too, she's an Aries with Mercury in Libra) and the garage door is open but we're yelling like no one can hear. I don't care if people hear me either (Mercury in Aries).

Ask for advice about something. She might open up verbally this way.

I just asked (gently) about her marriage and she went into it. It was obviously weighing on her mind a lot.

That's great She probably has a lot to talk about, but it might not be all lighthearted, since that situation is something she deals with 24/7. I know I've gone through a lot of crap. My life is complicated. Since I moved here, and it's a small place, I often get asked the question "So what brought you here?" and the answer to that brings up a lot of painful memories. Before I answer I warn them that it's a "long story, but if you are interested I will tell you"

i have mercury in capricorn and virgo mercuries are very simliar to us imo. we can come off as anti-social sometimes until we get a chance to feel you out, for example: i never really reveal my sense of humor to someone until i get an idea of how they might respond to it.

I find they take awhile to open up and feel comfortable with new people, in my experience, even after asking exactly what was wrong... thinking I'd offended them somehow (all my Sadge influence contradicts my Capricorn Merc, I lack a sense of timing usually, and often exceed the boundaries without realizing it), and they (several of them that I had to ask forthright) openly admitted that they felt an initial "distrust" with communicating with others, and uncomfortable making small talk... they felt they were imposing by asking questions, especially personal kinds... ^^; I'm all Water/Fire split down the middle mostly, so I can tell ya', first thing I want to do with reserved folks is shake them outta their shell... which can be threatening, and suspicious to these initially quiet folks... XD I stress "initially"... 'cause especially the Leo/Virgo ladies.. they really became shocking after the lid was opened... lol

I love conversing with Virgo Merc people, either way, it just takes time... but once things start rolling and they get over their initial dread... lol things do get silly and even a bit... dare I say it... "risque"..

^^^ This.

Hannarama- I know that you figured out the woman wasn't a Virgo Merc, but since this is a Virgo Merc thread, I thought I'd chime in.

What Saturnine Moth said is pretty accurate for Virgo Mercuries. I'm a Virgo Sun and Mercury, and honestly, my thinking behind it is that I really don't speak unless I have something of importance to say. I don't really care for small talk, but I will LISTEN (and most earth sign types will). At first I usually like to watch the person to get a handle on their personality so I know how to approach them and sometimes, as was stated, I don't want to impose by asking lots of questions- so I just don't talk a lot. It is anxiety producing to start an out of the blue conversation with someone I don't know very well, even if we have been introduced at some point, so sometimes I will just avoid it.

Actually Saturnine Moth- I think it's funny that you mention that as a Sagittarius you want to "shake them outta their shell." I have a Sagittarian acquaintance that is SUPER extroverted and over the top (he's got a Saggie stellium). I recently changed my gym schedule and it turned out that he just so happens to go to the gym at the same time as I do now. I have a personal policy of not talking to people at the gym while I'm working out. The funny thing is that I can tell by his body language that it is driving him BONKERS not to be able to come up and talk to me (he'll talk to other people when they are working out), and since I am not overly effusive when I smile and nod at him as I go by to the treadmill, I think he's slightly confused. He has recently mitigated this by paying attention to when I'm finishing my workout and he'll catch me at the end instead. But to me it's funny, because it's like a COMPULSION that he must say hi and be super friendly all of the time. That is the mystery to me about the Sagittariuses honestly... Sometimes you just want to work out. You don't have to talk to everyone ALL of the time. I accept a smile and wave as acknowledgement. But he's a super friendly guy and I can tell he's really trying to respect my boundaries, so I willingly attempt small talk with him at the end of my workouts.

It's just funny to me because I can relate to Virgo behavior a lot. I have Virgo IC, my ascendant is in Gemini so that makes me very mercurial, plus the biggest factor: my Taurus moon in the 11H. I'm more comfortable listening than talking. That's why I like Sagittarians actually because they'll just talk your ear off and you don't have to worry about thinking of topics to come up with!

Where is your Mercury? I'm curious.

But yeah, I agree with you. That's part of why I have a lot of Sagittarius, Aquarius, and Gemini friends I think... They talk and I listen. However, to be honest, it's nice to be around Cappies and Scorpios too. They are more balanced (in my opinion) on the listening/talking scale. I can only take the energy of heavy fire/air signs for so long before I have to take a step back and recharge with someone a bit more reserved.

Aries Mercury, but it's square Saturn and Neptune so I think that aids in me not speaking unless I have a point . It's in the 11H too.

I love Capricorn/Scorpio energy! I'm always drawn to the intensity and maturity but it can get on my nerves in the long run.

With Virgo Mercury, I've found they don't usually add much to conversation...unless you ask something of them or they have something useful to add. Which! Usually makes the conversation me asking them questions the whole time or talking about something only to get a laugh or something small like that in return.

I even asked once! "Do you ever have something to say!?"
And they said, "not really...I'm not really engaged"

My dad has Leo sun/virgo mercury. I will give my views although they may be biased. Do you by chance know any other placements, especially moon?

I always wondered why mercury is stronger in virgo rather then Gemini. Although Virgo has logic it lacks in the communication department.

She would try to make conversation but then it wasn't clicking for me (Mercury in Aries). I have to train with her again tonight - what to do? 8 HOURS, people. 8 hours of awkward silence.

My dad doesn't really like being told what to do. He doesn't like being criticized. Has lots of pride in weird places. Now, you are there to train this person so I recommend you make it interactive, ask her questions. He is a good communicator (to people who don't know him well). He actually communicates really well with strangers. (Bias coming into play.) Not very easygoing but can appear so. Also, he likes crossword puzzles and memorizes little facts. Maybe say, hey feel free to bring a crossword puzzle/soduko book, etc if you want. And you could do it together. (A la Stanley from The Office.)

Ah... That makes sense. Fire Mercuries tend to be direct and to the point themselves (though they sometimes get distracted by other things). I often feel I get along better with them than water Mercuries.

I like Cappy/Scorpio energy mostly because I find them easier to talk to than most of the other signs. They are usually refreshingly honest and don't buy B.S. Saggies are also honest, but in a different way- a more topical way??? I like them too, but mostly because they are fun, not because they are the greatest listeners (though they do try).

Agreed VenusDiSirius. Virgo Mercuries are usually excellent communicators and are very intelligent, but we only talk when we have something to impart and only with people we trust.

Sorry RedScorp, but I think I've told people that I'm simply not engaged in what they are saying, and it isn't because I can't hold a conversation... It's because they aren't ENGAGING. Which is to say, they are probably talking about something superficial/topical or they are talking about something that I have absolutely no knowledge of/or it's something I don't care about. Honestly, I have this problem a lot of the time with air/water/fire signs because they communicate differently than I do. I can't tell you how many times I've told people that I don't watch football, and the only thing that other person can then talk about is FOOTBALL. I smile and nod and have absolutely nothing to say... Because the person wasn't listening to me to begin with when I SAID I DON'T LIKE FOOTBALL! That's just an example of what it feels like a lot of the time with other signs. I think earth Mercuries are pretty plain spoken for the most part, but that doesn't mean that they can't be engaging.
