People with their Descendant in the sign or that of the house it's in would like [/B]

This is interesting! I do have mars in my 7th hence attracting aries... I also have neptune in my seventh and uranus... my first aries boyfriend had a pisces moon... the second aries had an aquarius ascendant... but i have only ever really attracted 1 aquarius and 1 pisces... interesting to note that I also have Moon in my eighth house and i once attracted (unintentionally) a cancer man that was only interested in me for... shall I say... eighth house subjects... haha

Silver Feather - when you say attracts the house on the cusp of the 8th house do you mean sun signs or rising ascendant signs - just interested.
Thanks.

Because I've been wanting to ask this for a very long time:
Based on these placements, who would I attract? No planets in my 1st or 7th house, so I can't go with that theory.

I'm Libra Rising with ruler Venus in Virgo - 12th house. (I guess that'd give me a mix of Libra/Virgo/Pisces in how I look and act?)

My Ascendant gets a tight square from Saturn and Neptune, plus looser ones from my Moon, Uranus and Jupiter. Moon's conjunct Neptune and Saturn.

Chart ruler Venus is in a T-square with Uranus & Jupiter, conjunct Juno, trine my Moon and semi-square Pluto in Scorpio. Oh, and I'm a Leo.

Any help is very much appreciated!

Bump. Anyone? Would aspects to the Asc-Dsc axis also count?

This is so much harder for people who don't have planets in either of these houses. Does it really mean you're not going to attract people?

Sorry to sound so dependent. I just really want to know what kind of men would like me. I really can't see it. I have a history of meeting abusive, aggressive, unreliable men (both as friends and in relationships) if it helps. Does that fit with what I posted?

Well since your Descendant would be Aries, the traditional rulership is Mars and where ever your mars is you would probably attract those men as well.

Instead of going with aspects and trying to work all of them out. Let's look at house rulers and use that to determine what you attract into your life.

Okay, so what sign is your 7th House cusp in and does it span more than one sign?

What sign is your 8th House cusp in and does it span more than one sign?

Where does the ruler of your 7th House sit and where does the ruler of your 8th House sit?

Here's an example.

quote:
Using traditional rulers, my 8th House cusp is in Scorpio and Mars sits in Aquarius. I notice that a lot of Aqua men show interest in me and actually pursue me.

My 7th House cusp is in Libra and Venus sits in Gemini. I have found that I desire someone that is good with their hands. Has some sort of hands-on job that requires a lot of skill.

I also must have a lot of communication with my partner, it's imperative that they enjoy long conversations that span many subjects. And true to nature, I do attract people like this.

Now let's give yours a shot!

Thanks.

I'll give an example. I'm a Sagittarius, my 8th house in in Aries. Most men I attract are Arians or Martian in nature or have a first House emphasis.
Do you understand it better now ?

Ail & MsPrism, thanks for being so patient.

Ail: True, the men in my social circle (11th house) are pretty aggressive. They tend to be really light-hearted about it, which can make me so uncomfortable sometimes. I often end up as the mediator and wonder if that's all I'm good for. Ugh.

MsPrism: Sadly, I can't say I've seen a pattern based on sign and ruler. Both houses only span the sign on the cusp, no overlap.

My 8th house is Taurus with ruler Venus in Virgo (12th house). Don't think I've even known any aside from one casual friend. I would've thought I'd get along well with them, but I guess we just don't cross paths. Neither with Taurus men (though I've seen Moon/Mars pop up twice).

My 7th is Aries with ruler Mars also in Virgo. 11th house.

What I'm attracted to is a good friend I can trust, confide in, and who will support me even when I'm being weird and annoying. Someone open-minded enough to look past it. Sadly the only people with Aquarius strong (11th house) I used to know were the detached kind. They seem really nice at first, but I only find out about their violent, hurtful streak much later.

It does show for female friends (with Capricorn strong as well), but not romantically. Same with Scorpio for male friends.

As for men pursuing me... I'm just blank. I'm usually the one telling them I'm interested, after months of agonising over if I'm not just getting the wrong idea, and eventually I confess just to get it off my chest.

Well, it makes sense that you want Aquarius traits because your 7th house ruler is sitting in the 11th House. I think there is always a flavour of a House's original sign. 1st House = Aries, 2nd = Taurus, etc.

I'm wondering if you usually attract Piscean people because of your 8th House ruler in the 12th House?

I'm sorry you've only met detached Aquarius energy. I've been pursued by a man like that and it really threw me for a curve. I felt hurt by his unemotional bluntness. He had emotions and my Pluto in the 7th was starting to dig them out but I moved soon after knowing him.

There are Aquarius people that are openly emotional. My brother is an Aqua Sun and he is definitely outwardly caring and nurturing.

There is always someone for everyone and I'm sure you'll find that special person!!

What we attract?

Okay so the theory is that we are attracted to our 5th, 7th, and 8th houses astrologically… These houses are in the ‘other’ hemisphere of the chart and show the traits we are drawn to in others (this is in a relationship context, of course sometimes we ourselves will use and express our own 5th, 7th, and 8th houses)…

How we like to see our partner show impassioned expression (the 5th house, planets and ruler).

How we want to see them relate to us on a daily basis openly (the 7th house, planets and ruler).

And how we want them to relate to us intimately/privately (the 8th house, planets and ruler).

So if we want to look at the opposite of 5th, 7th, and 8th houses, we have… The 1st, 2nd, and 11th houses. These houses symbolize both what we have and attract. The 5th, 7th and 8th houses may show what attracts us to others, but the 1st, 2nd, and 11th houses, show where we ourselves are magnetic, and pull in the energy and attention of others.

The 2nd house is ruled by Venus traditionally and is actually quite a magnetic house. It shows what we feel have of value to offer others in relationships (the 8th house shows what we want others to offer us). The 2nd house is symbolically our contribution, and commodities of worth, that we are able to bring to the table for others in both a business and personal context. These need not necessarily be ’things’ although they sometimes are. The 2nd house shows how we go about attracting what we need from others, and how we express what it is about us that is a worthwhile investment… It also shows how we attract in a very basic earthy sense… Like honey to the bee. When we attract the sign on our 2nd house they tend to see us as valuable and physically appealing.

The 11th house is the house of social popularity, and love received. It shows what it is about ourselves that we feel makes us appealing on a social level (or not if the chart has afflictions involving the 11th house), and our social self-esteem. It also shows what types of behaviors make us feel accepted, appreciated, and wanted by others (check the 11th house by sign, ruler and planets). The 5th house is what we fall in love with and our inspired reaction to our love object…. Our performance… The 11th house is the reception we desire in response to our passionate self-expression… Our audience… By sign, ruler, and planets the 11th house can show what type of people we attract as ’fans’ and admirers like personal ‘groupies‘ (the 5th house is who we admire). You know, the type of people in general who think that we are awesome. When we attract people from our 11th house they tend to make us feel special for the unique person that we are.

The 1st house is where we wear a banner that says ‘This is how I am, take it or leave it! People who share the energy of our 1st house allow us to be authentically ourselves, and there is often a mutual attraction due to similarity. We attract the energy of our 1st house in general because we are able to identify with them and understand where they are coming form… It’s a very strong pull and is not necessarily romantic (unless other factors show it is so), but the attraction is very strong when it is. When we attract the energy of our 1st house they tend to make us feel validated in our point of view on the world, and they ‘get’ us. They also very much appreciate how we, in turn, seem to ‘get’ them.

I’ve noticed that when we attract the 2nd and the 11th houses, in particular, there is often an unrequited love type scenario (unless the 2nd and the 11th houses are somehow tied to the 5th, 7th, or 8th houses). When people influencing our 1st, 2nd and 11th houses are drawn to us, they are usually attracted because they see us as wonderful in one way or another (the specifics of this will show in the details of their natal chart). This is whether or not we actually want their attention.

I’ve really noticed this with the 11th house. It’s like I was fated to be loved by people with this type of energy, whether I want it or not. My 11th house is Libra with Pluto and Uranus in the 11th house, and Venus in Sagittarius in the 1st house ruling the 11th house. Libra/Scorpio/Sag/Aquarius/Aries combos seem to dig me. My 2nd house is Capricorn, and there were a couple of Caps in high school that liked me, but I never was interested (although, I’m a Cap myself).

However...

Romantically, what we are naturally attracted to is the 5th, 7th and 8th houses. So… When people influencing our 5th, 7th, and 8th houses are drawn to us, they are often attracted because they're aware we think THEY are wonderful for some reason or another (the motivation is different). They kind of bask in the light of our adoration sort of thing.

Simplified: synastry in our 1st, 2nd and 11th houses makes us feel wanted by the other person…. While synastry in our 5th, 7th and 8th houses makes us want the other person (usually, after all synastry is a complex topic).

Mutual attraction tends to happen we both people influence each others 5th, 7th, and 8th houses. And there’s a variety of ways for this to happen... Even if the other person actually does have planets in your natal 1st, 2nd or 11th houses.

Like... They can strongly aspect the rulers of the 5th, 7th, and 8th houses. Or have signs prominent in their chart associated with our 5th, 7th, or 8th houses. For example, if we a have Pluto in the 7th house they could have a bunch of Scorpio influences. Or if our 7th house ruler is in Leo, they could have Sun conjunct the Asc, or a Leo Sun or Moon. This sort of thing.

My 7th house, for instance, is Gemini ruled by Mercury in Sagittarius, with Jupiter in the 7th house. My Gemini Dsc rules the 3rd house which has Aquarius on the cusp ruled by Uranus in Scorpio, and I have Aries on the 5th house cusp… So in the case of people symbolized by my 11th house, the appreciation is usually returned. My 11th house has signs/planets in common with the energies associated with my natal 5th, 7th, and 8th houses. And my secondary 7th house, if you look at the house (3rd in my case) ruled by the sign on the Dsc (Gemini in my case). This house is very important in partnerships people! Works great for me!

Yes, I do tend to go for the sign that normally rules that house rather than the sign it's in. Oh, good call, Pisces is definitely one of my favourites - the people I want to get to know on a deeper level usually have either that or a strong 12th house. I do attract them as friends, but again, not in a romantic way. *sigh*

Ugh, that kind of behaviour is so confusing, isn't it? Adding Pluto in the mix would make it feel even more intense, yeah. I'm sorry too...

Yhe positive qualities of Aquarius are just what I need, and I can see how kind and passionate they are with people they like. It's a shame I'm never part of that. Of course I know some can be open and gentle (I love how you talk about your brother here), I just haven't gotten to know the ones who are.

(And going by Lotus White's post, yes, it's definitely fitting her theory of requited/unrequited.)

Lotus White: Wow, thank you so much for typing this out for everyone here. I'm going to try this theory with my chart, but I wanted to leave you a thank you in advance. It's so precise and written with passion for the synastry. Makes my Virgo Mercury very happy!

The 8th house is located in the half which deals with how you relate to others and what you are seeking (or sometimes unwillingly finding) in relationships with others.

Hi Ceri,

Yes, I read that article too, and wasn't convinced by it. I completely agree... We're attracted to our 8th house, and attract/magnitize with our 2nd rather then vice versa.

If a person has Taurus on the 5th, 7th, or 8th houses, however, They may very well be attracted to the energy of their 2nd house. Taurus rules the 2nd house, so if we have the sign Taurus on a 'romantic' house cusp, then the 2nd house becomes more attractive/Romantic for us.

I think it's the same for the 11th and the 1st houses too in this regard (or any house really). Having Aquarius on the 5th, 7th, or 8th house, would cause an attraction to 11th house synastry. And having Aries on the 5th, 7th or 8th house would cause an attraction to 1st house synastry.

Ah, I have all three of those. Loved those overlays the rare times I got to feel them. Especially the 2nd house, planets in this house make me feel a lot more confident and comfortable with opening up completely.

At first I was a bit confused about the second house as an attraction, but now I can see it. Ceridwen's post got me thinking and now yours. So it's who you draw in by acting a certain way. It sounds silly (I already did anyway), but could it also be without trying? Like you attract them for being you.

Going to use your theory here:

My first house is Libra with ruler Venus in Virgo in the 12th house. Mercury sits here as well. Venus has mostly bad aspects, it only makes a loose trine to my Moon and a quintile to Chiron.

My second house is Scorpio on the cusp with ruler Pluto inside. Most of the aspects are good, including a sextile to my 7th house ruler Mars.

My 11th cusp is Leo with my Sun in the same house. The mentioned ruler of my 7th, Mars, here too but in early Virgo. Sun sits on the South Node.
Sun is afflicted, saved from a minor aspect to my Moon. Maybe the feminine planet here shows the major off-balance? No idea how I can turn this around.
The 11th house thing and "how you want to feel welcome" hits so close to home, it's amazing.

Still can't say I've had that much romantic interest in me from men with strong Scorpio (2nd), Leo (11th) or Libra (1st) energy, but it matches much better than the other three signs. I think one ex-boyfriend had a Leo Moon and Venus in Libra. Oh, oh and Mars in Scorpio! That's all three of them! So the potential's here after all

Does this work with your theory?

Yes. I guess I can use myself as an example here. I've got Capricorn on the 2nd house, and what I feel is most valuable about me is that I'm stable, trustworthy, and loyal... This is probably enhanced due to the fact that I've also got a Capricorn Sun (In the 1st house). Having Capricorn on the 2nd house shows that I see my strong, determined Cap side as one of my key 'bargaining chips' for getting what I need in the world... And others who also value these things are the people likely to be attracted to what I have to offer. Now of course I have other talents and traits in my personality, that are nice and have their place... It's just the my Cap side is the part of my nature that I see as my personal currency.

It's worth noting that my Saturn is in Virgo in the 9th house. I also highly value my analytical, organized side, my intellect, my interest in health and nutrition (especially alternative health therapies), and 'clean living' lifestyle (I avoid drugs and alcohol). My morality, integrity, and spiritual beliefs, are of great value to me as well... And of course others who value these same things that I do will be attracted to getting to know me.

So yeah, that's my take on the 2nd house. Synastry overlays in the 2nd can feel good because other person appreciates what you 'have' to offer in both a psychological and physical sense.

Yes it does!

And I totally get what you mean about the 11th house traits in others making you feel welcome. My 11th house is Libra ruled by Venus in Sagittarius, and Pluto is in the 11th house as well.

People who are courteous but also direct and honest make me feel so comfortable and welcome. I also really like when a person is patient with me, and takes the time to get to know me on a deeper level, below the surface of things... Like they take an interest in who I really am, and are understanding towards me (I'm pretty sure this comes from Pluto in the 11th house). Don't mind being psycho-analyzed so long as the other person is compassionate towards me (as it happens my natal Pluto is exactly sextile Neptune. Aspects to planets in the 11th matter too!), and has an understanding, considerate, patient attitude.

I tend to like this type of attitude from both platonic friends, and romantic interests (A guy who is trying to date me, for instance). This type of vibe makes me feel as if the other person is paying special attention to me, that they care about making me feel included, and that they really want me as a part of their life. 11th house synastry increases our self-esteem in a different way from the 2nd house. With positive 11th house synastry we get the feeling that the other person thinks we're a 'Cool' person to hang out with, and that they want us around.

The 11th house rules popularity in a general sense. When we look at our natal 11th house we get a feeling for how we'll fit in socially, and in groups overall. My Libra 11th house shows I prefer to be diplomatic, courteous, and friendly in group situations, and that I like the same treatment in return.

However, the 11th house can also show how we are made to feel 'popular' with specific individual people when we look at synastry. If someone makes a trine to your 11th house ruler, or puts a few nicely aspected planets in your 11th house, then that person as an individual is able to make you feel 'popular' specifically in your relationship with them. The good news about this is that even if your 11th house is crappy nataly, you can find someone who nicely aspects you 11th house, and they'll make you feel included and wanted, even if in general we feel excluded or 'dorky'. If you know what I mean.

Actually both the 11th house and the 5th house have to do with courtship (If we want to get into the romantic side of things).

Our 5th house shows what impresses us about others, and who we fall 'in-love' with. Our 5th house also gives some indication of how we express our passionate feelings of adoration towards another. The 5th house is where we GIVE special attention to a love object. It is where we GIVE romantic interest.

The 11th house is the opposite. The 11th house is where we RECEIVE special attention from others, and how we are able to accept appreciation, admiration, and inclusion. The 11th house shows our style of behavior when RECEIVING, and also how we want to be 'courted'... In the other words, the 11th house shows the kind of treatment we want from a love interest/admirer (As well as our social group in general).

It's kind of ironic really. We fall for the traits of our 5th house, but want to be treated in the manner of our 11th house (where we are romantically perused by others, and where we RECEIVE love that they want to GIVE us).

There is an astrological reason for this, though, using derivative houses.

The 5th house from our 1st house (us) shows how and why we are inspired to give love/special attention. So, it's also logical that the 5th house from our 7th house (the partner) shows how we'd like to receive love/special attention from others. The 5th house from our 7th house is of course the 11th house! In theory, the 11th house shows how we'd like a our partner to express their special regard for us. The 11th house symbolizes the type of 'Valentines' treats that we'd appreciate (Not just in a gimmicky, cheesy way, but also in a practical, real-life way)...

In terms of individual synastries, the 11th house can actually be quite 'romantic', in that the person influencing our 11th house has a unique capacity to make us feel adored. Whether or not we return that adoration depends on if that person also resembles our 5th, 7th, and 8th houses with other parts of their natal chart.

How we attract with our 11th house is simple. The 11th house shows our style of receiving, and the types of things we like to receive from others to feel wanted/included. People who observe our responses, may be attacted to our energy... As our style of receiving would resonate with how they'd be likely to treat us.

Yes, I also find the 2nd house conditions to be very important in terms of compatibility. If there are issues there (selfvalue esp.), those need to be addressed.

gosh, the Aquarius thing doesn't stop.
Every time, I mean EVERY TIME, a guy hits on me it's an Aquarius. There is something not right here.
I love them but we just don't have a longterm future astrology-wise. :-(

I want to reply to this more in-depth again later, but wow! I'll be back to type out my thoughts as soon as I can.

Meanwhile, consider this a bump for anyone else who's interested.

I've been wondering about this for a while, so, in typical Virgo Rising fashion, I decided to tally up all the interaction that I've had during the past year on a rather well-known social/dating site.

Based on my data collection (haha), I deduced that Gemini, Virgo, Capricorn, and Pisces are far and away what I mostly attract (of 327 data points, 240 were in one of these four signs! say whaaaaaaat????). Whereas, Aries, Scorpio, and Aquarius seem to avoid me like the plague (after over 300 data points, I only had three Aquarians! )

Capricorn and Pisces both made sense to me...My Venus (very well/highly aspected) is in Pisces (as is my Descendant), and I have a stellium in Capricorn (including my Saturn, which is my most prominent planet). Virgo was a little confusing at first, but it's my Ascendant, and my aforementioned Venus is in the 6th house. My chart ruler is thus, Mercury, which follows up in third place for most aspected planet after Saturn and Venus. Thus, Gemini? I guess? I don't have any planets there, just my MC.

Eh.

Cancer, Sagittarius, Libra, Taurus, Leo came in 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th places, respectively.

NB: In the spirit of full disclosure, I should also mention that of 327, 39 did not list their sun signs...so who knows, really?

------------------
Sun -> Aries
Moon -> Sagittarius
Ascendant -> Virgo
