The Venusian energy is just the way they look and act. It's not necessarily the actions of the seventh house, Aquaguy! It can be someone sitting in front of a mirror on their vanity staring at their beautiful reflection, brushing their gorgeous locks, admiring themselves. Someone might be attracted to such a person at first, but after realizing they are self absorbed, no partnership forms. Aquaguy, the flip side of Venusian energy is actual narcissism. It can be very giving/helpful or it can be full of itself, "No one looks as good as me, I am better than them all," like the spoiled beauty contestant. IP: Logged |

aquaguy, what I think SSS might be trying to say would be...By projecting Venus energy, you want to be valued and appreciated. But you can't project energy because that's like shining a light at things. Some of the light bounces back, but a lot of the light is lost and absorbed. Venus is a passive energy that works best by having light shown on it. You feel you must shine. That's where the self-absorption comes from, you think that if you do this and that, you must be appreciated, but that's not how it works. You have to view things from outside in (Libra). Does any of this make sense? IP: Logged |

Thanks, SE Libra, natural ruler of the seventh house is all about two people cooperating together in partnership, Ideally, they are equals and they both always look out for one another. They are a two person team, sorta like conjoined twins. This is the sign of the ideal partnership, full cooperation. Seventh house has a similar vibe, this is why Venus is so giving here, since it's the natural ruler of Libra, the sign of equals in union with one another, partnerships, cooperation. On the ascendant, Venus is more in Aries mode, less in Libra, so it is more like the one staring at their reflection in the mirror, that sort of idea. It's about themselves. Yeah, they can look attractive and aren't completely lost, but it's a different vibe than the full cooperation of a seventh house Venus which is entirely focused on others. IP: Logged |

I still disagree that venus in the first is inherently self absorbed though. I can be a very giving person and like to make people happy but at the same time I wont let myself be taken advantage of. I guess you could say I keep tabs ( maybe this is venus square pluto?) and will cut off people who are only taking from me. I don't see this as self absorbed though, imo you have to be very careful because people will take advantage of giving people.IP: Logged |

Gonna interrupt this argument to see if I can pick your brains some more about Venus, m'kay?I've always found my Venus to be tricky to pin. I've got Venus in Scorpio (where, if I recall correctly, it is in detriment) in the 6H conjunct the DSC (Venus at 3', DSC at 4'). However, I have Taurus Rising, which means my ASC ruler is opposing my ASC. Any thoughts? Go crazy! IP: Logged |

The self-absorption is only the most extreme manifestation of Venus in the 1st. All placements have their extreme interpretations, and that's the case when saying Venus in the 1st is self-absorbed. It can be, but isn't by default. I thought it was very telling how some presumed that interpretation right off the bat, but ascribing how a person behaves based on one planet's placement without taking into account the different signs or aspects is nothing new to this forum. lol IP: Logged |

You can be somewhat self absorbed. It doesn't have to be the most extreme form of narcissism in every case. Ascendant planets call for rigorous examination of the self to see what is going on, why frustration exists in achieving goals. Planets in the first house or on the ascendant can square the MC!
