I still do it sometimes when I'm bored or alone...
Both my parents have moon conjunct neptune so they don't really notice anything that's not obvious lol.

I don't have sun/neptune aspects.
Good luck, I just try and keep myself busy and possible try and walk around... well... actually that does not help..
Try and do something constructive like chores. That's what I do.

I probably have fpp, that's what I blame for my strange experiences.

Yeah, I do the same too. I act out what I daydream...when I'm alone of course.

Right now I don't read or stay online for longer periods of time. When I'm at home, yes, I do some household chores. It actually helps btw.

Does your mother have placements in Virgo opposite your Pisces placements?

Scorpy - I see what you mean but it seems it was her mum giving her the idea..that she has a 'problem'.

:edit:

I found this online.. Apparently 'avoiding triggers' is one of the classic 'steps' in curing maladaptive daydreaming:
http://www.wikihow.com/Deal-With-Maladaptive-Daydreaming

quote:
Triggers are activities that you perform which cause the daydreams. Having maladaptive daydreaming shows a high proneness to fantasy. Some external factors that can cause you to start daydreaming include playing video games, listening to music, watching TV and movies, or reading books. Some internal factors are being lonely, tired, stressed, or hungry.

So when people listen to music or are stressed and lonely - they daydream...
Well that settles it. This is clearly a condition.

If you're right about the Virgo placements, I don't know if I should laugh or cry.

It caused a lot of issues in school when I had to pay attention to instructions or lessons. I would stare out the window and daydream about what was in the fridge at home, what I would eat the minute I walked through the door after school. If there was a can of Dr Pepper inside, I would salivate over that, couldn't stop thinking about how much I love Dr Pepper and how I could not wait until I got home to drink it. This would quickly become the most important thought in my head, much more important than what anyone said.

I still do it when I read, can feel my attention drifting and a daydreaming forming against my will. It's a real problem!

I have moon in exact opposition to Neptune and Venus trine Neptune.

I feel you. Yes, it's a real problem. I noticed that I have concentration problem too. At school I always had to take down notes or write what the topic was all about because I constantly drift away. That's why I needed them because I wasn't always listening.

I'm a Pisces Mercury so yes, I'll say it's normal...as long as it doesn't interfere with your everyday life.

I read you post you have Mercury in Pisces. I have Mercury in the twelfth house to go along with Moon opposite Neptune.

I'm born on the same day as you - so I have the same placements (like Sun square Nept and Mars conj Nept) and I'm a huge daydreamer but I think it's a really good thing!!!
I mean it works for me!

I would say everyone in the world with artistic talent - specially writing talent - would be diagnosed with this condition, so it's a bit... I don't know..
I don't see the point in calling it a condition.. or trying to treat it. You are who you are.

So^^ It's good for the imagination. There's a purpose for it - and we are all doing it all the time anyway

O_O That was long. Thanks for that info, Odette. I was really hoping you'd reply.

I wasn't sure at first if I have this, but after I've read the symptoms which I have, I just had to accept that I have it. This disorder, though still not recognized, exists and a lot of people have experienced or are experiencing this. Yes, it interfered in my work/social life to the point that I'm not going out anymore. Everything that is done excessively is not good. And to me it becomes an addiction...like it's the only thing I wanted to do. When it becomes a replacement for reality then that's a serious problem.

quote:
I am curious as to whether the real problem is that it affects her life...or whether the actual problem is that she's being criticised for it by some pragmatic Virgo-type person.

She seems self-conscious because she was told something like "Get off your butt and stop daydreaming!"--which wouldn't surprise me at all.

I was actually thinking that nothing was wrong with me. I'm not even self-conscious about it. Daydreaming is perfectly normal, until I realized later on how much it negatively affected my life in general. Now I was being criticized for it because it has become a problem. I neglected a lot of things in life--especially my responsibility to myself. I know something was wrong but I was so weak-willed that I'm just not doing something about it. I just continued to indulge myself until I realized how time flies so fast and I remained stagnant...dreaming my life away...spending all my time for something that wasn't real.

My sister said something really painful to me...words that just cut deeply. She said something along the times of until when I'm going to stay like this...what am I planning with my life...that I'm such a liability..blah blah. She even went as far as questioning my capabilities to get by on my own. I cried about it. I thought her message was a wake up call. I never told my mom about it. She doesn't have to know about it anyway. Instead of getting angry, I just use it as a motivation to snap out of it. I know that no matter how much I enjoy it, it's just not healthy for me anymore.

Wow, this is an excellent thread. Thanks OP!

I SUFFER from the same thing, and I've been that way since I was a very small child. I've created full, lush alternate universes, with no assistance. I've also began to dream about being my best self, as opposed to a completely different person.

What I'm trying to do (like you) is stay busy, keep working, exercise, etc. The internet and TV HAS to be reduced, and any psychological pain has to be addressed, otherwise it'll show itself in destructive behaviors (promiscuity, drugs, disassociating). My issue is/was low self-confidence and weight gain.

I'm working on my first novel (finally)--that is the only way that I can allow Neptune to work for me without becoming an addict or continuing my young life as an overweight hermit, LOL!

These days I'm aiming to just read and write, to keep my mind and senses sharp. The idiot box and Devil's Eye are largely used by the Enemy to keep us all in a stupor.

Neptune is afflicted in my chart:

Neptune at the Aries Point (0° Cap)
Neptune in 1H
Sun opp Neptune (1°39' orb)
Mercury opp Neptune (1°29' orb)
Venus opp Neptune
Neptune sq Midheaven (1°37' orb)
Neptune (widely) conj Jupiter

Stay strong, soulstress, and stay FOCUSED!

Do the people criticising you (mother and sister) have placements in Virgo opposite your Pisces placements?

I think this is definitely a problem if you are no longer motivated to go out or do anything else. I've always found my daydreams more motivational rather than holding me back - but I would say I have fairly realistic daydreams of things I would actually want to do - and that I could do (rather than something very -out- there that seems impossible).. I guess this is partially the way I prep myself up for doing something... if I am initially not very confident about it.

If you don't feel like going out or doing anything else - I don't know if daydreaming is the main issue, or the only issue. Because people can daydream quite a bit (as per the article) and still carry on with their lives.

Thanks for replying though. I was starting to think my posts annoyed you. I guess I feel like - branding daydreaming as a "condition" is reinforcing the pragmatic earth sign-type perspective on life (in particular Virgo) - the perspective that says daydreaming & artistic pursuits etc are not "productive" and hence not valuable or important.
So I am very wary about calling it a "condition".

I have same problem.

I'm Libra Sun Aries Rising Capricorn Moon. Saturn is my dominant planet.
My Neptune is in Capricorn in 9th house, with following aspects:
Neptune conjunction Midheaven
Moon conjunction Neptune
Uranus conjunction Neptune
Sun square Neptune
Neptune sextile Pluto
Jupiter trine Neptune
Venus trine Neptune

Could some of this aspects be responsible for my condition? How can I help myself?
