^ Why do people think a placement has to show itself all the time? The aspects and placements will show themselves when provoked. They fluctuate just as our lives do, so it's not reasonable to think because you have one placement you're supposed to be a stereotypical way forever and ever.

But that's the original question sun or moon or asc. .______. I'm not that stupid.

And obviously when someone provokes you will do it only then. But this statement also has a flaw. Like provoking your mars, depends under what circumstances it is. You won't say **** off and beat your mother if she provokes you and you have aries mars.

That's why I'm saying that astrology cannot be classified as an accurate science.

You don't seem to understand the question, because its not asking which planet you identity with ONLY...PF wants to know what the order of importance is which everyone has attested to so far, and I agree it is hard to call astrology a legitimate science because of the varying opinions, but that's also why aspects are accounted for, because its more than just having a placement like Mars in Aries which anyone studying astrology seriously knows.

In my experience, the Asc sign is very evident in idnividuals and tehn followed very closely by the Moon.

Sometimes I can struggle to make out the Sun sign positions.

But what are your experiences?

Does someone who has the Moon in Taurus seem more 'Tauruean' in nature than someone with the Sun/Ascendant therein?

In principle, The Asc is the most important sign in the birth chart because it is far more specific to that individual. The signs spend only a couple hours each on average moving across the Asc daily.

The Moon comes next because it is next most specific to the person, since the Moon spends only a couple days in each sign.

This means the Sun sign, while powerful because of the energetic implications of it, is far more general, since the Sun spends 30 days in each sign on average.

It also depends on how you are looking at the chart. Do you mean more important in terms of hits by transit? Well, if you've got a lot of planets in a sign it could prove more important.

My rising sign is Virgo, but I was born when 4 planets were in Taurus. Virgo still maintains primary importance, but not as much as if I had only the Sun in Taurus.

I know someone who was born when 6 planets were in Virgo. However, his Leo rising was still very important because it gave him the extroversion needed to be a sales person instead of a more introverted writer or something similar.

Signs are always general. The particulars of a given chart show up most in terms of planets and aspects.

Your Mars is always within you, it doesn't need to be provoked? It's the very principle of how you take action & stand on earth. I don't see the point you are trying to put across. I could prove astrology as truth Scientifically, psychologically & spiritually in about 10 minutes through studies..

I'm a Scorpio ASc and Sun. Leo Moon. Most times I feel more my moon than Asc or Sun. As they are squaring each other, I get confused almost every time I scream loud as a Leo...

Astrology has been used as a way of life since before the times of the Egyptians, it's only now with skeptical modern scientists that don't believe in anything half-measured over what they believe to be 'realistic' that its been doubted.

Then you misunderstood my replies to this topic. For me it's like this

1st Sun
2nd Moon
3rd Ascendant

And again it's obvious that aspects etc etc are most important. But the original question is whether sun or moon or ascendant is more "you". It's like completely crossing out all the other aspects and planets. Just asc moon and sun. This question is based on stereotypes, basically the descriptions that are on the internet about each placement. And which description is more you.

I use my own descriptions not what i find on the internet. In all honestly i would say it's a matter of opinion of which energy you find most personal or useful to you. You can choose which part you "use" most, to some extent.

I find it difficult to put them in order as they all have there own vastly significant
importance ...

The Moon and our Lunar energy is the water & home within.
Where as the Sun is the generator of all heart, soul & spirit.
Then the ascendant is what perception you have and what way you look at the world and how you want to make your entrance on to it

so the best thing is just to say that astrology is 50% opinion and 50% whatever it is true about it.

Btw you can't say that modern scientists are the only people denying astrology. Even when astrology "started" many people were skeptic about it. And will always be.Nature.

As for my opinion, I'm not a skeptic or anything like that. I just find it difficult to completely follow a path that is "destinied". I also can't stand the fact that many people would also do the same, following their destinied path. You know like, you have your own unique mind, and you just do something that is already known. That's not interesting. Not interesting at all. So again just saying, you can't say that I'm a skeptic, I just see astrology in a bit different way.

Yeh that's understandable, of course, but there is no denying that the Stars, Planets, Moons & asteroids do effect us as a race greatly.
In my opinion they influence the entire being and we couldn't live without them...
Hopefully in the Aquarian age it should be brought back as it once was

Couldn't have said it better myself!

That said, I think the Ascendant is always present, after all it is the appearance. The Sun seems to show itself around everyone. Its expression is altered by the Ascendant. The Moon is the part that is unseen but somehow still felt on a subconscious level. It is the "planet" that rules the actual soul. It seems to rule the core of who we are. Who we REALLY are.

This is why Moon contacts in synastry are so important. They feel nice. They feel relaxing. Moon-Moon conjunctions and other Moon contact aspects are fairly common in marriages.

What if I feel everything almost equally strong?

Is that a consistent feeling one that fleets?

I don't dispute that other planetary placements do have a role to play. But my thinking is more on the lines of "pervasive" personality.

Who are you "all" the time as opposed to "some" of the time?

I, for instance, unconsiously look for pleasant environments and am drwan to comfort.

I do like physical expressions of affection; hugging, kissing, caressing etc.

I do pay careful , sometimes even obsessive, attention to my bank balance.

These are some of the recognisable ways that my Asc makes its presence felt.[/B]

I should've expressed myself clearer. I can strongly relate to pretty everything in my chart but of course the expression fluctuates depending on what's going on. Are you trying to figure out what is easiest to detect or what is truly accurate? (but perhaps not visible for others)

I think my ASC (Virgo) fulfils its theorethical function. From what I know people tend to perceive me as very serious and even unapproachable before they have a chance to talk to me. When I find myself in an unknown environment and/or with strangers my instinctive approach is sitting/standing silently, observing/listening. I don't gesticualte when I'm serious. I don't walk with a smile glued to my face. I don't initiate flirting. What is not necessarily noticeable is I'm kinda neurotic about flaws, I'm very analytical etc.

My Sun doesn't help me not seem super serious It's in Capricorn. I think I can call it the core of my personality. Maybe I'm not conservative, traditional and ultrapragmatic (which shouldn't be surprising taking my Uranus and Neptune conjunctions into consideration) but still a lot things fit. Well, after all I'm Capricorn and Saturn dominant. I definitely live on that planet whether I want it or not.

My Moon...and now things get really complicated Currently I consider it a Libra-Scorpio hybrid. It's probably most difficult to spot. I'm not too emotionally expressive nor I kiss people's butts (I like to give sincere compliments though). But if you get to know me a little better, you might find out that I prefer peace to clonflict, equality and justice are important to me, I love art but also that I tend to have all or nothing attitude, I like to think about death and a couple of other things And maybe then you'd figure it out hehe.

When it comes to the rest of my personal planets, I think my Mercury would be easiest to guess. It influences a lot the way I communicate, my interests and sense of humor. Where do you think it is? ^^ People, don't prompt!

This post didn't go the way I wanted. Hmmmm

But thank you for all the contributions.

I think this has to do with preference/opinion more than objective observation.

Some people distance themselves from their Sun/Asc/Moon. Either the placement is not glamorous enough or they just don't "recognize" it.

Its a pity that we can't all sit around the table and give each other the low down on how we first thought one another to be....Now that would be telling.

Anywho,it's still up in the air for most(I see). But as for me, The Asc then the Moon and then the Sun. That's the way I see it.

I'm a ;
Scorpio Ascendant
Sagittarius Sun (Ophiuchus)
Capricorn Moon

For me i can feel the Moon as the strongest influence, the the Sun & ascendant are both at the same level for me being in the same house. I would defiantly say, from my point of view that the Moon is much more influential than the ascendant, but it depends on your situation, their all going to manifest in their each unique way, with the sign, house, mode etc ... - It's a difficult choice..

But that's not a rational way to explain it. Scientifically speaking, sun affects us more than moon, but they are both required to live. Still I would go with sun.

Plus if you say that sun is just a stereotype, then if you chose moon as the main thing, then the same thing would happen again. 12 moon signs, and everyone would be stereotyped by them. Same thing goes with ascendant.

This makes sense to me when I think about chakras.

Base of the spine is the Root Chakra ruled by Saturn.

Sacral ruled by Jupiter

Solar Plexus ruled by Mars

Heart ruled by Venus

Throat ruled by Mercury

3rd Eye ruled by Moon

Crown ruled by Sun

Spirit descends through the top to the bottom, constantly feeding the system with the result of spirit into matter.

Like a plant's root giving it a foundation but needing the foliage to gather the food to transfer to the root in a constant cycle.

Very interesting!

I didn't know the planets were associated with chakras.

I think it's very interesting too! I used my solar plexus chakra quite readily when I was a child (when I felt in danger), without knowing about them. It's funny since my chart is ruled by Mars (Aries Ascendant) which also rules the Solar Plexus chakra, haha.

So, I don't know if it helps but as years passes by I feel my sun more and more. I always felt more my asc and moon because they're conjunct maybe...I don't know. My sun (7th) is opposite moon. Once I read we born to conquest our suns and with me it's true, because little by little I feel more lioness than aquarian. I feel like I born with the potential to develop leo qualities (solar)more than someone that born a taurus for example, as well the taurus person born to excel in taurean qualities (solar) more than me. So I think moon and rising come first, you feel it first.

Upon reflection - regarding the people that I have actual birth data for - I'd say that I first notice the Moon and then the Ascendant...but I rarely notice the Sun right off the bat, unless it's in the first house.

My Pisces friend, for instance, I definitely noticed his Virgo Moon before I did his Leo Ascendant. And while, as time has gone on, I still see that Virgo, the Leo has really begun to shine! It's only after having known him for several years that I've begun to see his Piscean influences, though.

Likewise, for my Leo friend, I think I saw her Aquarius Moon first, and then slowly began to see her Scorpio Ascendant...I can definitely see her Leo influences, though, too, but those took sort of a while to manifest in my presence (or at least for me to become aware of them).

I'm not sure if that's true for me, though...Most people who attempt to describe me hit "Virgo" right on the head, (whether they actively know it or not, haha), but I don't think people see my Sagittarius Moon until slightly later...And I'm not sure if anyone notices/believes that I'm an Aries! (although I could be wrong, I suppose! )

Sun -> Aries
Moon -> Sagittarius
Ascendant -> Virgo
