Does anyone else relate to this?

I feel like I have a weak sense of identity despite the fact that I find the notion of a solid identity important.

What I mean by that is, sometimes it's hard for me to know what I really like, what I'm really into. I take on other people's traits and even their interests easily, then later on, I realize what I've done and try to figure out "Do I like that or am I just latching onto what they like?"

I've even taken on other people's mannerisms at times. It's very frustrating because it feels like I have no idea who I am, which is partly why I got into astrology in the first place.

Hmm...I have Moon in Gemini and Mars in Sagittarius. Also MC in Pisces but I don't know if that counts for anything.

Everyone does this to a certain degree, some more than others. I Think mutable signs are most prone to this tough.

hello,

sorry but when you guys say "mutable signs," what particular signs are you speaking of? personal signs or generational signs like saturn and stuff?

I'm triple fixed. Sun/Moon/ASC
(As well as Mercury, MC and Pluto)

I'm not easily swayed, even when I probably should be. I'm the opposite side of the spectrum and that brings problems, too.

In case you aren't familiar - If you go to the a Pullen Astrolog section in astro.com you can find what percentage each modality in your chart is. You can also see the strengths of all your planets and the signs. This might give you some understanding.

Astro.com>Free horoscopes>horoscope drawings and calculation>extended chart selection

In the methods it automatically goes to circular charts - change to pullen astrolog. In the drop-down box select the last option "simple chart delineation by Walter pullen" and voila! You will have to do some scrolling though.

Hmmm, what is up with your ascendant?

If the Ascendant is in Pisces or is conjunct Neptune(which is potent), that could explain this.

If the Ascendant ruler is in the 12th house. This could also be it.

If the MC is close to Neptune or is in Pisces, it could also cause great confusion with regards to direction and identity.

If the ruler of the 10th house is in the 12th house- this could also be it.

Look/contrast and compare.

Also included is Sun in Pisces/Sun in 12th or Sun aspecting Neptune.

Ruler of the Sun is found in 12th house or aspected by Neptune with as square/ conjunction/ opposition.

Have fun exploring

I'm as mutable as they come(Sag stellium, Pisces Asc+Neptune conj. Sun) but I don't think one could be called easily influenced. I know what I like, enjoy and who I am but I have no problem adapting myself and incorporating other things as my own if I find them to be fulfulling or enjoyable.

As long as you really enjoy it whatever it might be, doesn't matter where you got it from, in my opinion.

I'm very mutable.
The fact I can do all those things is why I am have so many friends and acquaintances.
I can relate to anyone.
I've had people tell me they have never met anyone so similar to themselves, it's amazing how people react from mirroring their gestures.
It's kinda fun too.

Moonlightx,

I've met quite a number of people like that, but was never that myself. I have a lot of Mutable energy with Gemini Rising, Virgo Moon, and three planets in Sagittarius.

In a way, it seems to be about empathy. You overly relate to people taking on their attributes and then wondering what happened. I have only done that in relationships with Cancers. I would subvert parts of my personality, so that their personality could shine through.

I'm going to guess that perhaps a water element is at play. Otherwise, it just seems as if you're truly fascinated by people to the point of copying them. I don't think this will be a permanent thing for you. I think you will discover your strengths over time, and start to assert yourself.

Another angle is that you're seeking acceptance, and by mirroring people you hope they like you more. You see that kind of behavior a lot in male white artists that do music in a black genre. Macklemore talking to Stephen Colbert doesn't use much slang at all, but Macklemore talking to bongoboy (whoever that is) uses a lot of slang. Same is true for Eminem or JT. Just trying to relate to the audience effectively, I think.

Thinking about it, my wife does claim that I'm different in a couple situations. She says my face changes when I'm with my family. She says I seem younger. Also, she enjoyed when I would do improv, because I'd talk louder afterwards, so I guess I do change a little based upon my audience, too.

I have exactly this same problem and I know it's why I got into astrology!

My chart is highly mutable. Apparently I'm a 7 when 6 is already highly mutable. http://astrolibrary.org/elements/

Also, I have my sun ruler, Jupiter, conjunct Neptune and my sun conjunct Neptune as listed above.

And I think there are few others lurking in my chart related to basically going along with what my partner wants instead of asserting what I want, which in a way isn't so much of a problem as I don't know what I want.... OMG, it's like circle! :-o
LOL.

My ASC is Cancer opposite Neptune. MC is Pisces. Sun is in Capricorn conjunct Neptune. Saturn is conjunct Neptune.

I never really escape Neptune despite my Saturnine influences. It anchors me after the fact that I've melded with someone else.

That would be my ideal.

I do enjoy most of these things (ex: hobbies), but sometimes it's troubling, like when I take on someone's negative mood/feelings.

It's kinda fun too.

It's a gift when you use it well and knowingly.

I used to mimic my teacher's writing/speech habits when writing essays for school and they always ended up loving it.

I'm pretty adaptable too (even though I can also be stubborn when it comes to certain things.) I would just prefer to adapt naturally as opposed to subconsciously.

That comes with a prominent Neptune. Not much can't be done about that other than to be aware it is their feelings and not your own.

That's exactly how I am. I don't know myself as well as I think I do, i find it hard to explain why I like a particular hobby, movie, or what have you, sometimes I find myself mimicking another person's accent, or habit without meaning to, the list goes on.

Pisces ASC
Sun opposite Neptune/Uranus
Mercury Opposite Neptune/Saturn/Uranus
Neptune in the 10th house
Neptune Conjunct Saturn

I DO I DO!

Neptune.
Neptune.
Neptune.

Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Saturn and Pluto all aspecting Neptune.

I know what I like when no one is around but if I meet a new person I start taking on their personality and moods… super annoying.

Despite having 5 planets in mutable signs, my sense of identity is strong, atleast at present. I don’t allow myself to be influenced by others, I hate it. My NN is in 1st house so I need to develop a solid sense of identity in this lifetime. The ruler of my 1st house is in 1st house, this one also helps.

Hey I'm also Cancer ASC opposite Neptune with sun in Cap conjunct Neptune and Saturn. My MC is Pisces too. I can definitely relate...

Although I'm getting to a point where I'm realllly annoyed with always being content to just blend in and not really asserting myself so I'm hoping this can change lol

What's your moon sign and how is it aspected? Also is your sun in your 7th house?
