That, no. The law sees a difference between "murder" and "killing." Self-defense is not murder, nor is it being a vigilante. Granted, there's some subjectivity involved, especially if politics enters into it. Saying self-defense is murder when it's stopping a violent attacker from inflicting severe harm or death on your or another is like condemning amputation to save a patient from gangrene as "assault with a deadly weapon." It's regrettable (a lesser evil) but when justified it's not criminal and thus different words are used to recognize that. That said I believe everyone is a potential murderer. That's not to say I believe everyone is evil or will randomly attack for no reason, mind you, and I can sympathize with some cases.
