Hi! :-)

Curious as to what rising signs you have encountered in your life that exemplified the essence of what a "manly man" would be? This is someone who is very in touch with being a "man" in a traditional fashion and displays these traits:

Refers to manliness often, saying they have to be "the man"
Supreme interest in sports
Macho
Always in control of environment or emotions
Gentlemanly; opening doors, pushes seats in
Looking out for women/protective role

What were the signs of the men you met, your your experiences and your reactions??

Idk about "alpha".

My father and my s.o would be considered "manly men" based on my culture's standard. My father is a scorp sun, sag asc, aries moon, cap mars - more aggressive, likes to lead. My s.o is a libra sun, cap asc, virgo moon/mars - more subtle.

They are protective but aren't obvious about it. They don't complain or let their panic, pain...etc.. shown (lol my father is like "I suffer quietly in a corner"). Try to stay clean, neat and composed. Quiet determination.

What can I say... I response to them positively.

I've met "macho" men who were like "I'm a man, hear me ROAR". My reaction to those: shake my head n walk away.

I have encountered one guy before that was the alpha male of all the alpha males. He was a very good driven leader, had a lot of self control and was a very reliable person. But what really turned me off from him was his cockiness, selfishness and the need to constantly prove to everyone that he was an alpha. He was a leo rising with mars in the first house, virgo moon and Capricorn venus. He also had his sun in aquarius in the 7th house which just showed how in relationships its all about him. Was never the gentleman type to open doors for you. Too much pride.

I would think that heavily libra influenced men would be the prince in shining armor. Maybe with some mars thrown in there to add a streak of bravery and manliness.

No but I don't think beating on your chest makes you an alpha.

An alpha is successful at everything they do because they give a 110 percent.

I've yet to meet this mythical alpha male.. Im sure they are out there.

The thing is Alphas don't act cocky because that is unattractive to a large amount of people, and that would conflict with being successful at everything LOL

Obama is an Alpha he got a nobel prize for existing LoLoL

People hate on him but they go weak in the knees around his presence.

I am with an alpha male. They are humble & charismatic at the same time. They are the knights in battle worn armor. They don't need to talk; they act.

Offhand, I'd guess a strong mix of Capricorn and Taurus. (I'm defining "macho" as masculine pride who believes it's his responsibility to stand up for himself and his family which matches the context of the OP as opposed to the more negative connotations of the word that basically mean an obnoxious, loud womanizer grabbing himself with a belief of the inferiority of women, and I suspect in some cases are only so obnoxious to women out of a secret desire to be punished & dominated by one as some wind up with women who won't take their crap at all and even heard of one woman--the mother of a guy I know--who publicly put her "macho" husband in his place in full view of the public, and he kept earning future reprimands which he then submitted to.)

However, I wouldn't see them as NEEDING to say they "have to be the man, that is call the shots" (which actually sounds insecure to me). Taurus wouldn't bother stating the "obvious" and Cappie doesn't seem inclined to run his mouth off like that either. I could think of other possible signs but then they wouldn't be so in control of their emotions, strict adherence to being a gentleman, etc.

And I just don't understand why anyone loves to WATCH sports (though I've read some interesting theories about how the excitement of being a spectator of sports ties into the religious centers of the brain but it's still all theoretical to me), and I don't think I've ever came across an astrological reason for it.

Obviously, the culture you're born into is going to have a big effect, too.

Hmm interesting! Is Aqua-Rising your final answer??

^^I can see that. I'll also go with Scorpio & Leo ASC.

That sounds like Scorpio/Leo influence.

I don't know about the AC.
The Sun & Mars can tell you more in that department.
It's difficult to get correct ascendants for people.

Obama is a joke and is proof of how ridiculously racist our country still is. He only got that prize and is a 2 term president because he's black. Which is very sad. No one took his character, actions or beliefs into account, which is just utterly disgusting to me.

Manly men to me are men who provide for their families without ever even questioning it. They just do it. Someone who isn't afraid of getting his hands dirty. Someone who is also protective of his family. Just an all around man lol. Not these girly whimps nowadays.

Although I don't get along with my father he's very manly and what I envision of a manly man besides a few things. He's a Leo and as is my fiancé who is also what I call very manly and just perfect for me. So I'd say Leo men for sure. I know Obama is a Leo but after all the crap he's done I don't even count him. Capricorn's are very hard working so maybe even Capricorn men. Some Aries men I've seen. Libra men sort of, they're hard working but then the get lazy and start throwing around "fair rules".

True!

It is usually wimpy men with wimpy placements - like detriment/weak Mars - who beat their chest and act cocky.

Water Sun men can ... put on an act like this as well.. because they feel inadequate & they try to overcompensate.

You are taking in account a number of personality traits and pushing them all together in a conjoined personality that doesn't really related to one particular placement and sign alone.

But with the list of traits that you have provided, the person has to have a combination of Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Libra placements; Coupled with a Fiery Mars. Why Libra you ask? Well a true man knows the value of keeping company that he can learn from and evolve from and doesn't holds back the potential of his partner and looks upon them with pride and honour.

You don't get that with a lot of signs these days unfortunately. Being Macho means letting the best in your partner shine through and that means letting them explore their own path but at the same time, always being there for them when they need you the most; No complaints, no "why should I?" remarks.

He still got it for being himself..

if you really think a president decides the fate of the nation you are naive.

He is just a figure head for the most part.
Honestly better him than some crusty old white guy.

I hope next time around it's a native american female lol

Interesting. I have always been fascinated by the fact that most people readily agree that cocky guys are insecure and annoying but those guys still seem to have a corner on the popularity market.

I noticed the opposite.
Water men are just more apologetically wimpy lol.
which is kind endearing.
But when in crisis they can passive agressive which maybe is not always the most efficient way to deal with things.

Lololol. Why do I find this to be so true... I want to like water males, and since I have a lot of water and earth placements you would think I would, but many of them (usually cancers and pisces males) ended up acting like they were quite obv trying to overcompensate... they'd often be the type of males who are so sensitive to critisism or rejection that they act super defensive all the time, or are just way too into something "manly" like a sport or video game or something else competitive which they seem to use to justify themselves as a man ugh. They are also those types of guys who because they are so sensitive to rejection will talk **** about you or call you fat and ugly when you don't agree to go on a date with them. "I didn't like you anyways b*tch!"

Obviously this is not ALL of them, I notice older water males are more mature and don't behave this way, might also be within my generation of sh*theads who compete too much.

I've been called an "Alpha male", but not in the "hear me roar" sense of the word. Most people say that I have a lot of "influence".

I'd say the "alpha male" is commercially described as the macho type. The type of guy who won't let you forget that he is a "real" man and is obsessed with being on top.

I would say that those who fit that description seem to be brash or struggle with affection in one form or another. Some are downright homophobic-which could be suppressed/latent homosexuality in my view.

The other type of "alpha male" is the one that simply has "presence". They don't have to say/do much in order to be taken seriously as people around them assume that this man knows what he is doing.

My ex-boss, a Libra, was an alpha male of this type. Very calculating and ambitious but seemed to hide it all under a dimpled smile and courteous behavior like calling us "gentleman", "sir" or "my colleague". Even when he was scolding or disciplining us.

I don't know what his year of birth is and so I can't check the rest of his placements.

But he was able to just get people to "listen", not out of fear but of respect. Most people use to bend to his will.

He was also very good looking and I think, believe or not, that counts in anyone's favour if you have the receptive qualities therein already.

Who said he decides the fate? Obviously he doesn't and hasn't. But he sure as hell started this bogus unconstitutional healthcare crap.

It shouldn't matter what color or sex the person. It's their character and what that person will do to better our country. To say that he didn't win because he's black is hilarious! He's the biggest joke after Flavor Flav

Agreed, the US president is more like an actor or a mascot for the nation rather than a "leader". The people who run the nation aren't even congress, its whoever pays the bills, stock holders, corporations, bankers, etc.

He doesn't, but what does matter is that your congressman/woman does, and that you vote for the ones that will represent your views and vote to pass bills that you want to see become laws for your state. That is if you are actually concerned with your personal rights and all that...

I don't consider myself "alpha" but neither do I recognize "alpha" in anyone else. lol

I see guys sometimes who seem to present themselves in such a way to appear "manly" and I just see it as ridiculous. It's too "try hard" like what are they compensating for? lol

I'm just me.

I am lucky enough to know a.n alpha male. I considered him a player. Whenever I bumped into him he would be either surrounded by a group of men or would have a pretty gal with him. He is super hard working and is doing well career-wise. He is very courteous. And I have never heard him bad mouth any one. Not even an ex! He radiates that subtle power without being forceful nor aggressive. I remember when my son was born and he called to congratulate me and later asked to drop in to see me. He ended up baby sitting my son for three hours and changed diapers too and asked me to rest and call him if I needed anything. He told me he adores babies. That's when I realised he is a true alpha male.
He is a Taurus sun &mars, moon in Leo and Venus in Gemini. I don't know his Asc.
