I feel like this is true in some cases of course and not true in others...
For example, my brother is rather shy and his mars in cancer, although a cardinal placement makes him tip toe around his feelings and he kinda side steps his way into letting his female interest know he likes her

I start the relationship but then I'm the first to know when it's time to leave and they're the ones holding on. It's largely because the men I'm interested in are heavy on the feminine signs Taurus, Scorpio and are ruled by Saturn.

So I usually have to fight very hard to get the man that I want. It's good because if he isn't hard to get, it's basically not the person for me. Easy to figure out haha.

They do initiate the chase, taunt, and engage their prey directly -

Which is probably why they rank so darn high with me as far as Mars signs go!

It's a brave, determined, and intriguing Mars placement, imo. They're clever ones, some Martians will treat all their prey with the same strategy, but Aqua Martians tend to analyze and treat each mark as an individual, using what they determine on the fly to ensnare their victim. ^^

I don't have much in way of experience with the placement, but I can't imagine anyone loving the hunt more than Sagittarius Mars, (except for the occasional Dioscuri Native on the polar end of that alliance, but in my little experience there, they seem to go for a reverse psychology method and lure along what they hunt... kinda like playing with ones food)!

I love to chase and be chased, so hunter and hunted... prey and predator dynamic is an absolute must to even get my attention (and keep it)... I blame that on Venus in Sagittarius, Venus on SN cnj Uranus 4h.... I'm all for hunting, but I don't have the same ingenious maneuvers that I've seen come from those Aqua Martians, or the mischievous Leo and Gemini Martians. Scorpio Mars-Pluto in the 3rd translates to a colder and more calculated strategy to the chase, where Aqua will engage directly, Scorpio will do it surreptitiously, of course... I think, most of us... we like the tug-of-war dynamic, (most Scorpio Mars or Mars-Plutonians even). House will have its own effect over the strategy or lack thereof for a natal too... My Mars is 3rd ruling 8th. Everything needs to be measured out first, and my hunting usually involves mental gymnastics of some sort to both test the hunted, and keep myself fully intrigued. It's either on or off - can't have both. Which puts off and casts out a lot of riffraff.

I've no problem doing the initial chasing, but do not feel comfortable with those who kinda hang back... never really stepping up. I've only experienced that with the Marses Pisces and Virgo. At least in one of those cases I think it was more do to with his laziness/abundance of women willing to do all the hunt/chasing, as well as hard Neptune aspects to all his personal planets. There was no excuse for the Pisces Martians I've met who didn't care for the hunter/chase game... Fish like to be caught though, I guess? lol Fish are definitely different.

It surely has to do with a person's Mars, and the synastry in each case.

Cancer and Taurus Martians that I've known are by far the most reliable with their intentions. Or maybe the ones I know are blessed with little affliction in this area. lol But, they always know where they want to go with someone and for how long. And, generally they are up front about it with that person, sometimes (Taurus Mars) brutally so. But, they don't really hunt-hunt... it's not like other Martians, where there is a game being played and someone has an advantage (or thinks they do) over the other... it always (from the outside at least) looks fair. But, with Taurus and Cancer influence (be it Mars or any other body) - these are signs where the Moon's powers are clearest, purest. So maybe that's why these signs natives usually do have the clearest intentions of all the zodiac. (If you get what I mean here... I may not have explained what my thoughts are well.)

Just from my experience - I'd say Sags and Aquas are natural hunters; and Leo, Gem, Libra too... they'd probably employ a "hunt"-like approach if it were enjoyable at the time (just to pass the time, make them feel better, a mental diversion). Whereas Scorpio, Capricorn, and Aries Mars will probably really need to be convinced or have to convince themselves before they engage in the hunt, and well... by then it is more of a battle (and you gotta kinda feel sorry for the prey). *bias* ^^;
Pisces and Virgo axis really doesn't promise a hunt, I don't think they play with rules, they kinda make them up as they go on their own... so, maybe in their mind they are "hunting"??? it's hard to say with my strange experiences with either of these two. And, then Taurus and Cancer - who will often say what they mean, mean what they say, and only expect the same from you in return. Or at least that is, (again), my humble experience with them. (Like your brother with his Cancer Mars, he's probably shy at first - but, the second he has revealed his intentions to a love interest he's probably going to deviate from them very little if at all, unless he is completely rejected. That's the Cancer Martian that I know anyway... they slowly wear into their prey, the more they crawl out of their shell the deeper they crawl under your skin. lol) Bulls too but not such a placid change, bull Martians can go from a similar docile state of interest with someone to being potentially relentless and adamantly consuming of their s.o.. The biggest commonality in them is the sense of reserve and selfishness behind their intention, innocent but also potentially menacing. lol

that's my general overview of who hunts or -doesn't(doesn't need to). X)

Ok.. I am only posting this based on my own experience - not generalisations about the different signs..

Guys who try very hard to get chased (i.e. seduce you in a 'feminine' way.. rather than go after you in a masculine way):

Aries Venus,
Taurus Mars, Taurus anything actually - they are just lazy,
Cancer Mars,
Pisces Mars,
Sagittarius influence

Guys who can go either way, but are generally laid back.. and don't mind the woman chasing:

Leo influence
Gemini influence
Virgo influence
Libra influence
Capricorn influence
Aquarius influence

^ By "influence"... I mean mostly personal planets in those signs.. Mars is big for men.. so Mars would be the first thing to look at.

Guys who definitely prefer to chase:

Aries Sun
Scorpio Sun, Mars
Leos can have a slight preference.. but they are just too laid back to care ultimately.. Leo women are much feistier and energetic lol
Capricorn Sun, Mars also can have a slight preference towards initiating but they are not hellbent on this.

Yeah sometimes guys are subtle and wait for an opportunity unfortunately that does not always happen.
Sometimes I tell my friends.. like that cute guy is checking you out and they're blushing and I'm just smile or something..

I'm not a beast LOL.. but I don't mind if other people chase me if I'm attracted to them.. I think it boosts my ego or something..

If we exchange glances sometimes I smile or smirk and if I get similar response I'll ease into it and just be very casual and maybe a bit vague or witty.
But i have moon-venus in Gemini and air signs are about civility I guess.

I think In general I'm really perceptive to expressions and postures I feel like being chaser requires you to be unaware of that...
Like you just don't care etc.

Taurus/cusp Gemini or Gemini men... always chased me in the early stages. (Cooled off later though, haha)

Libra - will chase when and if they feel like it.

Aquarius - cunning chasers who make you feel like you've chased THEM. lol

Scorpio - not much chasing from them, we usually just sort of "happened". lol

Virgo (my sun sign) and Pisces - as with Scorpio but even more laid back/cool. lol

Aries - chased initially and continued to take the iniative throughout the relationship.

Personally I'm very wary of being "hunted" by guys who don't really know much about me and are just going for the surface looks.

Yeah that's the thing about Scorpio men which is pretty appealing, imo. They don't really "hunt", they just "are", behave naturally and are unaffectedly charming in a compelling way.

Ok... sometimes I think my synapses in my brain don't synapse....

My X is a Leo sun, Gemini moon, Cancer Venus, Sag Mars, he doesn't chase either.

And I made a mistake in my post above on my friend who admits he doesn't chase and his planets. I've fixed them.

I've finally found a pattern! I've had two Leo sun/Cancer Venus's in my life. One was the first boy to fall in love with me, the second is the last... for now.... I hope not the last, last, last ever! :-O
