to others who have aspects that compliments their own?

Like Sun/Moon conjunct Venus would probably be drawn to the energy of Sun/Moon conjunct Mars?

I've read about shared affinities ... but I guess complementary energies could work as well, maybe like a pseudo-aspect.

What's An Affinity?
Okay... Here's an example of an "affinity"... the Sun in Aquarius is similar in energy to the Sun in aspect to Uranus. Both of which are similar in energy to the Sun placed in the 11th house.

Extending it, they're also similar to Uranus in Leo and Uranus in the 5th house.

Some astrologers go as far as using the formula:

Sun in Aquarius = Sun aspect Uranus = Sun in the 11th House = Uranus in Leo = Uranus in the 5th house.

While I don't take it quite that far - the energies (and resulting life task issues) are most definitely similar. And for simplicity sake – I'll be using this formula in subsequent examples.

The affinity story is that people are attracted based on things they have in common (rather than complementary energies) - eg if one person has Sun in Aquarius and the other has Sun conj Uranus or one of the other options listed ^

But maybe it can also work with pseudo-oppositions... which would feel complementary... So, if one person has Moon in Sagittarius and the other has Moon conjunct Mercury (similar to a Gemini Moon) - that could function like a pseudo-opposition.
It could work with other planets as well - specially paired planets like Sun/Moon and Venus/Mars.

If one person has Venus conjunct Jupiter or Venus in the 9th... and the other person has Mars in Sagittarius - and they have no actual Venus/Mars aspects... they could still be similar on a sexual level. It wouldn't feel as intense as an actual aspect but there could be an affinity, because the people would feel like they have common ground.
Alternatively - if one person has Venus conjunct Mercury - and the other Mars in Sagittarius - they could be attracted because the energies are so different and complementary.
