I read a new theory today. For a woman: look at the Moon sign and its potential maternal qualities, then at the Uranus' position. A Water Moon or a Moon ruled by Venus = wanting kids. Hard aspects between Moon and Uranus = wanting either zero kids or lots of them. (Also difficult pregnancies.) Dynamic aspects between 5th and 11th houses = adopted kids. Neptune in the 5th house = other people's kids, either adopted or marrying a person with kids. I have a Gemini Moon and both my Uranus and Neptune are in the 5th house. My Moon is opp Uranus in a tight aspect. According to their interpretation, it means I'm not likely to want kids of my own (the Moon sign is young and masculine, sort of like a teen boy itself lol) and if I have some, then they might be foreign and adopted under unusual circumstances. Hmm. It fits. There was no theory for guys though. Applying theory to Angelina Jolie to check it out. Her Moon is in Aries in the 9th house--a hot masculine sign and the house has no affinity with children. Her Uranus is in Libra in the 4th house of family which means unusual family circumstances. No Moon-Uranus aspect. Her Neptune is in Sag in the 5th house and has a hard aspect to her Sun in the 11th house. Adopted kids, I see you there. I don't see the desire to have kids, though, at least according to this theory. IP: Logged |

I think the more interesting question is what aspects do make someone NOT want kids. Most people do become parents one day so it's the norm. Yes, I do think it is imposed on us in a way as well, so many might not be even aware that they do not want children. But those who really know they don't want kids and are adamant about it about it are worth analysing in my opinion. I have Cancer moon conjunct ascendant and I never wanted my own children. I just crave alone time and freedom too much so there is no way I will take on such a responsibility like my own child.

Yeah. I'm a Cancer Rising with a Cancer Mars and I never wanted to have children. Like EVER. In fact, I'm genuinely terrified of getting pregnant. I do think adoption is beautiful though. I just don't have it in me to take care of another human being, so I'd rather not. IP: Logged |

I have a strong cancer signature as cancer ascendant, it's ruling planet Moon placed in 4th house and the moon only receiving harmonious aspects....and yet I've never had the need to have children and given my age now, I never will have children and I'm completely fine with it. In fact having children was just always a non-topic, in the sense I never had any feelings either way positiv or negative, it just never was an important question in my life. If it had happened I'm sure I would have been fine with it, but now that it won't happen I'm also fine with it. I think the house to look at as indicator is the 5th house and if there is a strong uranian flavour to that house, it may be an indicator for no kids. I have uranus in the 5th and it is square my 5th house ruler venus.IP: Logged |

I and my partner have zero desire to have children. We both knew at a relatively young age that we didn't want to go that route; I knew even before he did. He figured it out when he was in his early 20s, while I knew when I was a teenager. MY PLACEMENTS (probably no surprises here) Moon conjunct Chiron in Virgo Saturn in the 4H house [retrograde motion] Moon in the 10H - trine Uranus in the 2H 4H cusp in 0 degrees Aries [critical/fated degree, I think] Ruler of the 4H in the 8H HIS PLACEMENTS Saturn in Scorpio in the 5H Moon in Aquarius conjunct Mars - both are square Pluto Moon in the 8H Sun opposite Chiron in the 12H Ruler of the 4H is in Capricorn and in the 7H To extrapolate, I have my Mars in Cancer but that has always translated to me being nurturing of friends and my partner. His 4H ruler in the 7H makes him a relationship person through and through with a high amount of energy devoted to his significant other. He was once a school teacher and has an interest in returning to teaching later in life, so he doesn't hate kids; having a chronic illness is one of the big factors for him to not have a family. I'm usually indifferent unless they're super annoying. IP: Logged |

I have Uranus in the 5th house so yeah that might explain it. I have a nephew who I adore and I'm his adventurous auntie (which goes well with his Sag planets) but my own kids - too much responsibility.
