Topic: Man with Mars in Libra = Feminine (Sort of?)

This man with Mars in Libra in the 7th house...
Square Sun (Cancer)
Trine Venus (Gemini)
Conjunct Saturn
Conjunct Pluto...is probably the most feminine MAN I have ever come across and I say it like that because he is quite the puzzle. He is a smooth talker and charming with the ladies, loves fashion and home decor and is OCD about cleanliness, is not too fond of the outdoors, or camping, or really anything that involves getting his hands dirty aka any kind of "manly" activity. He also hates bugs and is weary of non-pet type animals. Loves smoking, a good cigar and a little brandy after a nice meal. Some typical traits of a classy Libra man, right? Except I think he tries to run from this image and pretend it isn't so. I feel this is a sensitive topic for him and he gets defensive when you question or poke at his tendencies. He will try to convey a "macho" attitude which is obvious to others. Most strangely, he is one of the most sexually aggressive people I've ever met. He is borderline addicted to pornography, particularly the...let's just say, "aggressive to women" type of pornography and loves to act this out in real life, complete with "dirty talk." Would this be characteristic of a weak/afflicted Mars? Or something else in his natal? IP: Logged |

Could be the environment he was raised in. I don't equate that stuff to manliness and I think it'd be his cancer activity if you were to say anything from what you've said so far.

I know a guy with all those placements except pluto I think. He didn't do it for me. We got along but we never slept together because he didn't have enough power to get me off in that way. Yes way too feminine and not manly enough. I think your guy is trying to play a role because he knows its not his true self. IP: Logged |

Mars in Libra men tend to be underwhelming, more talk than sex and very flirty but not prone to extreme intimacy or vigor. It is an active expression but detrimental nonetheless.Now Mars in Cancer is the worst Mars, but they are more emotional and do not separate sex from love easily, they are very defensive and protective so that would appear more "masculine" because of their endurance but in reality they are more yin than Libra is. Libra isn't a feminine sign. Don't know why people assume that. Libra is just as masculine as AriesAnd I wouldn't say so. I know Mars in Libra individuals who are as tough as steel. Mars Falls when it's in libra. Sometimes that means extra power IP: Logged |

My immediate impression is this is a man who was born more sensitive and fair than most (which his chart shows) into an obnoxious family that considered all that effete. (I've heard of one Libra in the same circumstance and they all assumed he was gay, even celebrated when an angry father called his dad to threaten to kill him if he ever caught the boy in bed with his daughter again.  ). As such they probably tried to "man him up" with roughing it and as a result developed an aversion to dirt and bugs (and I also wonder if he might not have that phobia against germs) due to borderline (or even outright) traumatic experiences in such abusive behavior against him. Likewise, such a background could make him feel unbalanced and out of place so that he became more obsessed with decor and even fashion (one way to feel more in control of himself, stay balanced, fight his own negative self-image, and even be a way to see himself as superior to those who raised him with contempt). And if he was mocked and humiliated for being too feminine (guys face that the way girls face attacks on their looks and sexual behavior) then he probably learned some unhealthy ways to view both himself and women and in a sense he gets aggressive and dirty with women as a way to project the part of him was raised to hate about himself into a woman. He may have even adopted smoking and brandy from that same background as these he was willing to do as both would help him with the anxiety he'd feel under such circumstances. He'd then become more addicted to nicotine which would make him anxious WITHOUT his fix which would bring up all the old fears...tobacco also increases testosterone which can result in a much more active and aggressive sex life. @PixieJane: I have a feeling you're probably right with most of what you've said, if not maybe all of it. Some of it may be innate (like his obsession with cleanliness) but I think the way he was raised plays a big part. His father is a retired police officer and I have caught him making "jokes" about his choice of attire - I even heard him call this red watch he wears "gay" once. That shocked me. I know his father probably thinks he is being funny but I can only imagine what else was said while he was growing up if he made "different" choices. My heart breaks for him when I think this may have happened. I always had my suspicions his sexually hyper-masculine tendencies were a result of some self-conditioning to project an image. Add to this a natal Sun square Pluto aspect and good luck trying to peak into his inner world. Hmm well Libra is a masculine sign but supposedly it can make men more feminine. I still wouldn't blame it on that due to all of those afflictions. I agree with what DeepFreeze said. Edit Also a lot of what you said sounds like Cancer too. I've met some guys who were like that. IP: Logged |

The planets are separate from the signs they rule, however Moon and Sun will always be dignified in Cancer and Leo respectively. Edit:Re-reading this one year later, I have decided to change my stance on this a little. I think this guy is trying to "own" his Mars in a way that makes sense to him or at least allows him to be seen as a "man". There are so many misconceptions about what it means to be a "man". The worst and most destructive being that if you are not running around beating your hairy chest and looking like you have been to jail/ fresh from living in a jungle somewhere etc. You are "soft". Mars in Libra is as Cesar Milan(The Dog Whisperer) put it : " Assertive calm energy". Libra doesn't do extremes. And society interprets "masculinity" to be an extreme. Extreme in anger, extreme in sex, extreme in machismo. So a guy who is neutral or not like that is interpreted as "soft". Some Libra Mars guys conform to avoid such labels whilst others only pretend to be what they believe others will approve of. IP: Logged |

Aries23, that description is scary accurate even for myself and I'm a woman.
Well some points definitely don't fit me but overall it's a very good analysis.
-Okay, so here's how I see the "weak" Mars positions... They are not regulated. That's it. They're not "weak" as much as they are unable to apply force in an appropriate manner. It's either too little or too much. Libra Mars can be as bad as an Aries Mars. Even worse, because they don't stand up where they should, and act super aggressive where they shouldn't (that's a possibility, doesn't mean they do it all the time). Hence the Detriment. It takes them more time and experience to learn how to use it properly. Where an Aries Mars will quite naturally be "in sync" with their assertive energies, a Libran Mars will struggle with that part of themselves more, leading to either under-assertiveness or aggressiveness. I believe there's more pressure with a Cancer Mars, first because it's in Fall (in my opinion planets in Fall struggle more than those in Detriment, as pointed out by meyray, another poster here) and most of all because it's a Water sign and more driven by instinct and feeling. So a Cancer Mars will be like an amplified version of the Libra Mars in terms of assertiveness vs. non-assertiveness. The struggle is more visible and 'restless', from what I've seen.

Oh yeah, I noticed it in a Mars in Libra guy. He tries to act like an alpha male around other men, and is quite successful in it, maybe because he whines a lot in his high pitched voice if people don’t listen to him. He gets very shy when women approach him. He seems to have a butt fetish (suits his Libra Mars, Libra rules butt). He is highly athletic and extremely good at sports. And he wears a baseball cap and a jacket all the time, I wonder why.IP: Logged |
