Thanks for trying, but I'm about to give up on this topic completely, because even when the rare person tries to answer, it makes no sense to me.

So someone is told they're Old Soul. Now they can go to Old Soul Cafe, but find many egomaniacs mixed in with...so many others. It could prove alienating.

I've been called an "indigo" and an "old soul" by two different people. The "indigo" description did sound like me, but it didn't matter, I shrugged it off rather than seeking out others identified as indigoes (which probably was for the best). And when I did the indigo thing of questioning authority, in this case the authority of the one who called me an indigo, I was instantly demoted. Same thing with the new ager who called me an old soul. As far as I can tell it didn't do me any good to hear it, and the term was just another version of the common game of complimenting those who do what you say, and taking it back when I didn't play along. I didn't care. And I do think that's the majority of it, just a way to manipulate people. If there's a way it can benefit people rather than manipulate them or give them a false reason to inflate their egos then I don't know it.

That said, I have known otherkin to benefit from it because they could find other like minded souls, which is much more specific than "old soul" and starseeds, and they seem to weather their differences better (probably just glad to find people who can take them seriously ). Otherkin are a mystery to me, but I've seen some interesting things in regards to them (and unlike ANY one who claimed to be starseed or old soul, I saw paranormal reasons to think there might be something to it). I once started a thread to ask for placements as my plan was to compare it with starseed and "old soul" placements to see if they were the same and if they were then I was going to take the "old soul" and starseed placements more seriously than I had (though I presumed that this is something of a shamanic like experience, to make a long story short, that is they were tapping something like an archetype, be it aliens or ancient masters or mythical beings).

But as the "otherkin" wasn't something people could use to stoke their egos with they had to mock the thread, even those who take "old souls" and starseeds seriously, so no one would answer on the actual topic (though I did get one private email who wasn't about to reply on the thread after seeing the mockery, including by some so-called advanced souls, but I was hoping for at least 5 to work with) so I don't know.
