Any thoughts? I would like to write about them. I know the 8th House represses, delays, but then the person can come out better

I think the 8th house helps you to redefine who you are at the core of your very being by exposing you to the darkest depths of your personality. It forces you to confront your biggest fears, basically making you suffer a lot so you can see a brighter day after everything you had to go through. With this comes the rebirth of the self--a newer, fuller expression of the self. After all, we can never truly realize what we are capable of until we have to go through the most difficult challenges in life.

The 8th house basically alters everything you've built up to now. The things which you value (2nd house things) will be taken away from you so that you will learn to be without them and be detached from the physical things. This then prepares one to face the 9th house things.

The transformations that often occur within the 8th house teaches a person that there are things that are just out of their control and that they should just let go. He or she will learn to trust in the universe and restore his or her faith in things working out just fine in the end.

As for planets in the 8th house, I think it hides the energies of those planets from the public eye. They're parts of your personality that you keep to yourself. But I think this probably only apply to personal planets. Generational planets might, too, to an extent, but I see them working out differently for me. For generational planets, I think they represent what you fear the most. I have Uranus and Neptune in there. I don't necessarily fear Uranian things, but I do not like sudden changes for which I am not able to prepare for. I also do not like Neptunian things, aside from the fact that I am Virgo dominant. In Neptune's case, I actually fear being lied to, disillusioned, not seeing anyone's darker side clearly (which is a tendency for me) and getting taken advantage of.

I wonder what others think about this.

Speaking from my own personal experiences. I have Mars in Gemini the 8th house, the only aspect it makes is a sextile to Jupiter. It's ruler Mercury, is conjunct sun, venus, Pluto, ascendant and squares Jupiter, sextiles Neptune.

My whole life has been about the emotional, physical and sexual abuse. Just abuse and taken advantage of. Sex. Sex. Sex. Want it and need it all the time but can go a long time without it. I don't want just anyone touching me; there has to be a connection. But when I do, my partners can't keep up! It is all consuming and energising for me- gives me life and zest i feel. I am strong willed but as the saying goes- the first step to any success is to be interested in it. If I really want something, I work hard for it and get it. 8th house themes have been strong in my life. Death. Rebirth. Death. Rebirth. Though ****** up things have happened in my life; the losses, the aches, pains, the disappointments, betrayals, neglect etc etc, I feel these are the only reasons why I have become so insightful to help others and become myself stronger and stronger. The troubles I get in life come to me because I can and have the power to deal with it. I believe problems only come to you if you are the person who has the solutions- an ego boost there as my life is so dramatic even people who don't know me well say there should be a book or film about it! I have seen almost very similar patterns in others with this placement. Mars in 8th. This constant regeneration in my life has made me more optimistic, with the constant reflections I do, i feel in order for me to be successful and to grow, I have to suffer a little- something the 8th house is. Tears you up, breaks you down but you become better. I love it and I hate it.

i have sun, moon mercury and venus in the 8th house

I would say it does delay.. i know i have some patterns i have to work on before i'm ready for a healthy romantic relationship.. so i'm single and been for a while..but in these days we dont' see an average marriage until 30 so what do i know.

I feel like a scorpio sometimes. i need depth and i love intensity. i like small and intimate group of friends than many superficial ones. i enjoy the occult and the topic of afterlife fascinates me.

I've got Sun and Venus in the 8th and both of them square Pluto. Sex and death have definitely been a huge theme and I've had more than my share of issues surrounding them.

Outrageous highs and lower than low lows.
The bottom has fallen out many times, but I think 8th h people have an awesome ability to regenerate, reboot and rebuild. Always stronger and often better.

The things that seem to happen to 8th housers always seem to be unpredictable and sometimes unbelievable. Truth is definitely stranger than fiction in our lives and many times we are given the power of prophecy through dreams and intuition. It's hard to get anything over on an 8th house person bc we feel it before they do it, or say it.

Sun and Mercury in 8th, Mars in 7th close enough that some astrologers interpret it as in the 8th as well.

I seem to have to reinvent my life every few years. Major changes in where I live, who I associate with, career, love life, whatever. Give it up and start over. Creative destruction. The trick is holding on to the seeds that can be replanted.

I seem to always get to see how things end. Like in the Simirallian by Tolken. Each book, each chapter, seems to end with ...here is the ending of *blah* and his/its glory was never seen in the world again. I seem destined to see the glory just before it ends, so it shall be remembered, but not to restore it. Instead, to learn perhaps that one *must* recognize those magic moments *now*, for they can not be recreated, and are subject to the entropy of time.

Like Merlin in the movie Excalibur... Remember, so you can tell your kids... I was there, with Arthur...

Time is the greatest thief. It robs you of your future day by day, then robs you of your past as memories fade, then finally of your present til only death is left.

How's that for 8th house?

Represses and delays? That's Saturnine. PLUTO transforms. Being the natural house of Scorpio, it's Plutonian in nature. Reinvention, transformation, and regeneration is the order of its business.

There are wonderful books on the houses. A few on the Eighth in specific.

I have read that 8th House planets delay maturation due to the repression of them.

In synastry?? Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm........yummy!
In natal chart? I don't know my 8th house is empty. But my 8th house ruler and my chart ruler are the same(Venus) Venus is conjunct Pluto on my AC.

Not sure if that counts for anything though.

Delays maturation? The dusty old "past life" baggage 8th house? Naaaw! Ever since I was a toddler, family members and family friends declared I was an "old soul, so wise". My nan calls me her shaman, and I prefer that. A psychic also told my nan when I was 8 (and having behavioral issues) that I've spent over 8 lives working with horses more than humans, which gave me a strong will but makes interaction with people challenging. I have an 8th house stellium in Capricorn with Jupiter, my Moon and Neptune exactly conjunct, and Uranus in Aquarius slipping into the 9th, but still conjunct my Moon. I once heard from a Vedic astrologer that having many planets in the 8th house shows one was too detached or careless about others' feelings in past lives, so they must be extra sensitive and be involved with others and their burdens until death in this one. If a persons whole natal doesn't have some strong fixed aspects or planets to back up that 8th house stellium, things can get out of control and traumatize the 8th houser till NO END. Being an 8 day path, the 8th house is about karma (and finances, as well as creative skills). Planets in the 8th can also show where and how the most karma has been accumulated in past lives, even this life. With my Moon, Jupiter, Neptune and Uranus being there, I DO have spiritual/psychic karma. I have strong karma with psychic females and gurus. I have had the luck of running into mediums at work, on the streets and even at home, and they always give me great insights. Often 8th housers can get impressions of who they were in past lives. 8th housers also have the key to unlock the doors to different dimensions and interact with spirit beings, especially if Jupiter is there (according to Vedic), but I would also include a lot of the other planets in the 8th for Plutonic, intuitive abilities. Also, sometimes having the Moon or Sun in the 8th can indicate that one parent was highly emotional, a little unstable, a bit supernatural with their sensitivities and predictions, possibly has/had an addiction, aware of humans and their nature, a bit obsessive, and has a close bond with the 8th house stellium person (for better or worse). 8th house is also hidden gifts, which is also the 12th. Look at it this way, if the 2nd house rules talents that you have perfected and use to make money, 8th house can rule talents you have that you keep under wraps and probably don't show unless you're in the most intimate settings. Everyone who knows me well knows they can always get a great tarot reading from me. 8th house is also a wonderful place to have many planets in if you're into astrology because according to ancient astrology, the house placements of an acclaimed astrology are the 2nd, 5th, 8th and 12th houses! I'm only 18 and yet I feel like I've been here forever. That's the only downside of having a Capricorn 8th house stellium. 8th house energy is ancient. Just like 10th house energy. The only difference is that sometimes 8th housers see dead people.

I have Jupiter and SN
Lilith

I'm not sure.
The only thing that I notice is a mostly detached and neutral view about death.

Hi All

I have Eris in Aries in the 8th house. I was just looking up this information since it's conjunct my Moon in Aries (9th house) that has been receiving messages from the Uranus in Aries transit and now Mars.

On this one website (http://www.astroknowlogy.com/questions/eris-in-the-8th-house) - it says about Eris in 8th, the following (btw, all of this is very true, for me):
The problem with Eris is that all the things that are positive about it will not make you also happy. Somehow you believe that sex should come with a promise of liberation, which makes you occasionally emotionally uninvolved and seemingly distant in a relationship. It’s hard to imagine what would take you to trust. You just can’t lie about it, but there is nothing and no one that you trust. This results in some positive traits, like successful prioritizing, being good with money, good troubleshooting, winning in battles and disputes, and having good orientation once lawlessness ensues.

A strong 8H presence in the natal can make for someone prone to playing devil's advocate, too. They can see deeper than others into a variety of issues or subjects, and can seem to have a better understanding of various situations than their peers. Fairly cagey, they really don't care to remedy the short-comings of others, but when a debate arises, they will point out the things others missed or hadn't considered, especially from opposing or unpopular viewpoints.

They spend a lot of time considering the small nuances or inconsistencies they've noticed, which is why those with strong 8H energy make excellent detectives, but can garner a reputation as someone who is broody. Full of thought, and able to linger on unpopular subjects like sex and death, but that's just being thorough, not depressive. That's a common misconception.

I wouldn't say the 8H has anything to do with delays or repression. Quite opposite, actually. Natives with 8H prominent are more likely to explore the uncomfortable subjects than any of the other houses, especially regarding the planets placed there, and/or the 8R.

lol funny thing u say about sex and death, i was talkin to my mom about a movie a the other day "the butterfly effect" and i was talking to her about the end part of the movie where the guy had to go back in time into his mother's womb and kill himself with his umbilical cord to prevent certain event that would have happened if he had born. i talk to her about death alot, she don't like to talk about it, so i do it sometimes to get a laugh out of it hahaha. i asked her if she would go back into her mother's womb and do the same to save the one's she love and she said "nope! i wanna be born and live" lol i told her she was soo selfish! hahaha. i told her i would do it! she started to get annoyed and a bit depressed lol. so i said "alright alright i'm leaving u alone now" hahaha #good times!

This is what I was thinking

Sun in the 8th means what?

Interested in deep subjects. Holds things close to the vest. Is not a superficial person. May mature late. May have to deal with deep emotional and sexual issues, as part of his maturity

Moon in the 8th etc

No planets in 8H, only Lilith (Aries). She completes a Cardinal cross of sorts with Pluto, Sun, Moon, Saturn, Venus, Ceres and Mercury involved on other corners.

Not sure what she means, or has meant, for me but I THINK that I have struggled with sexual liberation and to a certain extent with men that have wanted to either "conquer" or punish me. And women....they either like my energy or absolutely hate me.

To be honest, in my search for sexual liberation I have used and abused many men and of course, that Karma has come knocking on door..It hasn't been on purpose because I have desperately looked for a mate that could match my physical and mental needs.

I am extremely black/white in my actions and thinking and I have little to NO patience for BS or people that lack logic. One might think that with all that Cardinal energy and "fire", I also lack logic, but even my most spontaneous endeavors are well planned.

The absolute worse case scenario for me is feeling trapped, in a rut or hindered on my path! I will slug-fest my way out of there and custom to some Aries', I will take no one else in consideration until I am "free".

I don't like being humiliated in front of others and will never forgive a person doing that to me.

I think this describes my Aries Lilith in 8H.
