I would think people with Neptune influence. These are the people who really love animals:1) My friend - she actively rescues dogs and re-homes them. Neptune square Virgo Sun opp Mars sextile Mercury. 2) My brother - he was always surrounding himself with animals and has been known to rescue dogs when he was a kid. Neptune quincunx Sun square Pisces Moon. 3) My ex-boyfriend - he used to feed the stray cats and take care of them. Neptune aspecting all his inner planets, including his Virgo Mars. 4) My guy - he really loves animals as well. Neptune conj ASC square Virgo Sun/Mercury trine Venus sextile Moon. 5) Myself - 12H Sun/Mercury. Neptune conj Moon opp Venus square Pisces Mars. IP: Logged |

I've absolutely loved cats since I can remember and I've fostered and hand raised hundreds of kittens. I constantly watched any kind of animal documentary, nature shows, and read every book I could get my hands on about animals. I'm known as the crazy cat lady in my town but I love all animals. Black cats in particular lol. I have an Aries Mercury, Taurus sun and Venus, and gemini chiron all in the 12H. Moon, Pluto, saturn, and Mars in the 6H scorpio. IP: Logged |

Perhaps it's my Venus in Pisces as well. I notice that I'm emotional when it comes to animals. I actually cry it's different than it is with people. I don't know why but it's just something that I've realized. IP: Logged |

I still miss that baby groundhog. Now fully grown, and was kept by the rehabber, for her educational visits to places like schools. IP: Logged |

This also reminded me of when I brought in a cat that was eating the food left on a dish, just outside our back door. Food we put out for the ferals, before we adopted my dog that chases anything that comes into the garden. It was the end of 2015, snowy and cold, and I assumed it was a feral when it saw it out there, so I left it alone, didn't go to the door. A week later, at the beginning of the new year, I was still up all night, saw it again, and for some reason I went to the door this time. It was looking more ragged. That poor cat ended up being really friendly - it stood up and put its paws on the door, trying to get in, so I opened the door, scooped it up, and took it up to my sister's room, took its picture, thinking it was a stray, or had been dumped. Then spent time with it, gave it food and water, a litter tray, and after the sun came up, I left it there, showered (to get any potential germs off me, as I was going to be around my own cats - I thought it was a bit sick, but didn't know how much). Then I fell asleep on the couch, really happy and relaxed, thinking the cat was safe and warm, that we could help it. I asked my parents to check on it every so often, and my dad told me it was hiding under the bed. Later on, when I woke up, he told me it was breathing heavily... I went up, got it out from under the bed, and not long after that, he died in my arms. So I freaked out, obviously. I still regret not trying to get it indoors the week before. So, I held someone else's pet as it died. I wanted to throttle anyone who might have dumped it, but I know pets get lost, too. So now I'm crying. I've felt like crying since I woke up, and suppressed it all day and night, but it's flowing now. IP: Logged |

Me, too. I know several people who love their dog and would do *anything* for them but claim to "hate" cats, could care less about the homeless animals in their community, and scoff at me for having so many pets. Or they show cruelty and a lack of compassion for wildlife in their community. That really irks me.
If you care about animals, then you care about all of them...not just the ones already in your life. They all matter.

I grew up in the middle of a large working farm. We always had a variety of pets and animals, some of which we bought for the farm, but many of which were dumped on our property. We lived out in the middle of nowhere and people thought they could get away with it because no one was around. I had pet dogs, cats, guinea pigs, and a actual pig (not for food, just as a pet) that were dumped on our farm. Among the dogs were a starving and pregnant female black lab that later gave birth to 17 puppies, and an older Jack Russell that was dumped on our property with his tail hanging off, barely attached by the skin with bones sticking out. I kept 3 of the puppies, helped rehome the mom and the rest of her babies with a no-kill animal rescue, and kept the Jack Russell for 6 years until he finally passed away from a brain tumor. Btw, animals have been "dumped" on me by all kinds of people - people who you would expect would have more compassion, given their line of work, but clearly don't give a damn.My mom did wildlife rehab for a period of time (she's a 6th house Sun and Cancer ASC) and took care of injured and abandoned wildlife. That was a lot of fun, but also heartbreaking. Shock alone kills a lot of wildlife, along with cruelty from humans who just won't slow down to let it cross the road or insist on "hunting" wildlife even though they're really after it as a trophy and not meat. The extent of cruelty that humans are capable never seeks to shock me, anymore. To be honest, if you care about your dog, you should give a damn about wildlife, too. They're just as animal as your dog. Just because they won't cuddle up to you and protect you from an intruder doesn't mean that their life holds any less value. (I mean "you" universally here, as in we as humans should care - not directed at anyone in particular here.) I could go on and on about my frustration, but I won't. I have zero Pisces in my chart. My 6th house and my DSC are in Cancer. I have Chiron in my 6th house. I have a 4th house Moon and Mars and a stellium in Virgo. I currently have 2 dogs - one of which was dumped on me, the other was rescued from a kill animal shelter. I have 11 cats. I said I was going to stop at 9, but when 2 small black kittens showed up on my doorstep, I couldn't say no. Almost every cat I have was raised with kitten formula and a bottle or dropper. I also feed the community cats and feral cats in my neighborhood - 2 meals every day, along with a feral cat shelter for when it rains/snows and 2 beds for when it's actually warm. They've become used to me, so they allow me to put flea/tick medicine on them, give them cat nip and clean their beds. They're probably some of the fattest, healthiest ferals I've ever seen. I'm also pretty sure that the array of raccoons, possums, rabbits, and deer in my neighborhood have figured out that they won't be harassed here and tend to hang out in my backyard. I see more here than anywhere else in my area. I get sad when I see animals that have passed (wild and domesticated) on the side of the road. I've been told that I'm ridiculous and that I can't feel bad for every thing. I've also been told that I'm crazy. BS. I absolutely can care, because if people don't, then who will? Someone lost their pet, or an animal lost it's life and is now gone. Could we have done something differently? Probably. And we should be sad that they're gone. We should not become numb to death, in any species or manner. IP: Logged |

Maybe because animals are sincere and honest in their actions. They can't and won't lie to you. And with domesticated cats and dogs, they tend to show more loyalty towards their owners than another human will show to you. I cry a lot when I lose a pet, even if it's the natural end to its life. It hurts to lose an animal friend. IP: Logged |

I care! When I was little I used to make sure the ants around our house didn’t “go hungry” by putting out some sugar around the perimeter. My dad was less than happy... I also used to turn roaches upright if they happened to have landed on their backs. I felt sorry for them trying to flip themselves over! I “saved” birds with broken wings by forcing my mom to feed them bread that’d been soaked in water. I remember this one specific time when I brought a small bird home and we had it for a few days. It appeared to be better and wanting to fly so we let it out the balcony. But it crashed into the bushes below. I was traumatized for weeks after that :-/ I “saved” snails and slugs from dry ground by pouring some water on the soil and putting them there instead. I’m sure I messed with evolution and nature’s way of selection.. To this day I feel such rage when I for instance see owners of dogs treat them badly! One time I saw a man kick his dog in the stomach and hadn’t it been for my husband, I would have stopped the car and beaten him bloody! IP: Logged |

quote: Originally posted by Solar_Leo_Queen: Actually, I would like to contradict the Pisces statements above. Pisces is compassionate in general. But if you're specific to animals, it would be Virgo especially ones with Venus in that sign.I've read this book on astrology and it mentions Venus in Virgo being more fond of having pets than any other placement because this compensates for their criticism in love relationships. More often than not, people with a lot of Virgo influence are more likely to be more comfortable with human-pet relationships than human-human relationships because pets make them learn how to love unconditionally. With animals, they can serve, take care of something, and love at the same time. They are able to overlook an animal's shortcomings because they know that animals don't have the capacity to care and think for themselves. Therefore, they grow fond of the animal and think of it as their own child. And everybody knows that if you think of something or someone as your own child, you are bound to love it unconditionally. This is their way of learning the lessons from their opposite sign. So in my opinion, it would be Virgo. Plus, pets are ruled by the 6th house, which is naturally ruled by Virgo.
There is that, but there is also the following. Just speaking of the archetype and not of actual people with whole charts, freewill, etc, but Virgo energy tends to be on the somewhat controlling side, "I know better for you than what you know for yourself", and this is part of the issue with their relationships. It's a quiet, introverted, undercover/unconscious superiority complex (sort of a Sheldon like archetype). (In actual practice with real people, whole charts, freewill, etc, many things can offset this such as strong Venus, Neptune, Jupiter, Pisces, etc and of course the ever present wild card factor of spiritual will). With animals, they have all the control and power, and meanwhile, they oddly fear and strongly dislike being criticized by others though they often do it to others (however silently or outspokenly they do so), and animals just don't do that, and that's comforting and safe to them. I really like animals a lot, but the real growth and work is with fellow people. We have gotten some interesting guidance about some of our animal friends. Apparently their Souls also go through a reincarnation type process. My partner had some interesting lucid like dreams about one of our cats, Kenya (the wee kitten that I'm holding in the picture with me), and how she saw her being many different large cats before she became a housecat. In that same dream, she became aware that Kenya chose or rather agreed to become a housecat to work on something akin to the human concepts of greater humility and dependency on a Soul growth level. After she passed, Kenya visited me a couple times dramatically. One day after I had just started to meditate (usually do so lying down, but was at this point was still sitting up doing the preparatory process of neck rolls etc), when I felt and saw a noticeable plop on the bed, yet couldn't see anything. It was exactly what I experienced when Kenya, a somewhat bigger cat, would do when she "struggle jumped" onto the bed. About a month or two later, we went to a spiritual oriented conference, and I didn't know all of the talks scheduled a head of time, but one ended up being about pet post body death communication. There were some similar examples of experience given as to my recent one. Thought it was pretty synchronistic. Love connects all of us, and while Souls that incarnate as pets are on a different wavelength, if there was mutual love there, it isn't lost, but goes on and on. Love is the most real and lasting energy in the entire Uni/Multiverse. Bob Monroe, the well known OBE author and consciousness explorer had an interesting experience in one of his out of body travels where he met a Soul that had just come from many dog experiences and was all excited because in his telepathic to human language words, "I get to finally be a human!" I've had an intuition that our other cat friend, whose body is still alive, may choose to incarnate in a human body. Her energy is lighter, more refined, more gentle and ethereal than Kenya, who was more a earthly, grounded, and more wild feeling Soul. Interestingly, Kenya was more my partner's cat in some ways, and Jasmine is more my cat, in that we have a greater affinity for one over the other, though we both love both pretty equally. No, you just helped out a tiny creature that needed some assistance. Good for you. I once saw a lady leave her tiny dog in her car with the windows rolled up, in the middle of a sunny 90 degree day. I waited and watched for as long as I could until the dog became drowsy and stopped barking...then I called the cops. Instead of breaking the window, they went inside the store, announced that they needed her to come to the front and why over the intercom, and made her get her dog out of the car. Idk if she learned her lesson, but maybe she will think twice about it next time, if only because she'll want to avoid the embarrassment of it all. IP: Logged |

Im a Pisces and Pisces dominant, animals have always had a soft spot in my heart. I feel for animals very much, especially disabled, neglected, special needs, etc. I have wondered if I was an animal in my past life or something lol Even with humans same thing, I have a soft spot for the ones neglected, special etc. I remember crying so much like a baby when I was younger watching the movie Radio because of how he was bullied and treated. Ugh I felt so sad. When I was little too I would cry going to sleep thinking about animals in the slaughterhouses. But it upsets me a bit and I kind of dislike how my soft spot is for mainly animals and those types of people. I feel for regular people and regular struggles too but not and much as for the former. And I feel awful about it. I care about peoples struggles, but I still feel alone and away from this world, and I become bitter. And Im sad because Im like that. I really hate having an Aqua moon. For many reasons. Im very emotional but at times I feel too selfish. Anyways, sorry for the rant lol Im not sure what placement leads to compassion for animals, but I saw some people suggest Virgos, or 6th house. I have no Virgo or 6th house placements. My sister also loves animals, she is Cancer dominant Gemini with Cancer moon, mercury, and Leo Venus. She says she likes animals more than people. My grandma doesn't care much for animals. She is a Taurus Moon, Venus, and Mercury, and Gemini sun. My Virgo Leo Moon grandpa, he's like the most Virgo person I know, but he doesn't like animals. He can't understand how a person can put animals above people, and he thinks people are superior.IP: Logged |

In a more general sense, I've noticed that people with lots of Sag, Pisces and Virgo are the ones who not only love pets (who doesn't), but tend to be activists, vegetarians, adopt animals, save animals, etc. I would also add Chiron aspects to the bunch. Me and my boyfriend have prominent Chiron, and Virgo and Sag placements, and at the beginning of our relationship we bonded alot over our love for animals. IP: Logged |

I’m a part time pet photographer. And I volunteer at a local animal shelter taking photos for animals to help them get adopted. Ever since I was a child I’ve had special bonds with animals. Dogs gravitate towards me. I love all animals and I hate for anything to be in pain. I’m a Pisces sun, moon, mercury. No Virgo placements. My dad loved animals too- he was a Leo sun with Pisces ascendant. I’ve noticed Sagittarius placements have a strong animals connection as well. My ex was very animal compassionate, he was a sag sun, with Aries moon squaring neptune. My mom loves animals too, is visibly upset when she sees deer hit on the side of the road, and will go out of her way to rescue a dog walking alone without an owner (although I do the same thing). She’s a sag moon and Virgo ascendant. IP: Logged |

Virgo. She represents the Earth Mother after all for a reason.Haha. Jokes aside, Virgos are always so hard on themselves and feel like that they will never ever live up to expectations, so the unconditional love from an animal is a salve for these souls. Virgo's nurturing side can be satisfied through the care of pets. However! I've noticed that it takes actually bringing an animal home and bonding to quiet Virgo's initially rational mind and awaken her soft heart. IP: Logged | |
