First we can see that the Moon could have a conjunction and/or parallel with Mars. A great symbol for courage willing to take quick action and not relent in Taurus, which can also be adept at the kinds of detailed practical considerations involved in such important rescue operations.

Moon ranges from about 1TAU22 to 15TAU34, and from 9N26 to 15N01 in declination. With Mars at 16N55 - 17N06 in declination, we can see that it does not make a parallel with the Moon, so we are looking a conjunction with Mars as a very likely factor for courage and action in her chart.

However, mid-Scorpio rising chart (midnight hour) would have Mars opposite/contra-parallel Asc, also a picture of courageous action and determination. In such a chart Moon is in 6th (nursing, health care) as well as parallel MC, and Asc could be CP Pluto. More factors that can indicate a heart for children, public notoriety, as well as courage and determination.

Sun conjunct Venus in Aquarius offers the potential of loving humanitarian focus, and clearly she put this to use. There is also Mars quincunx Jupiter, which can indicate change of fate because of the necessity of quick action.

This image of her showing a more rounded facial outline suggests the possibility of a cardinal signs and/or planets affecting her Asc, but I think fixity by sign is more likely.

The year of her first marriage (1931) saw Jupiter square a (mid-)Scorpio Asc, and the year of her divorce from her first husband (1947) saw Jupiter conjunct/parallel a (mid-)Scorpio Asc, and Pluto square it (from Leo). I think a mid-Scorpio chart is as likely for her as about any other chart that could be considered. A 17 Scorpio Asc would have the declination of 17 South and on the date of her death, 12 May 2008, Pluto was 17S01.

I agree with Kannon that she probably had a Moon-Mars conjunction, which accounts for her bravery.

She also has a Jupiter-Saturn opposition, which indicates a love of justice. Sun trine Pluto, a strong will.

I'm adding some excerpts from Schulman's book on the Nodal Axis, about Irena Sendler's NN/SN placement. She is a perfect example of someone fully embracing their North Node, even transcending it!

I love it.

This is the chart of Corrie ten Boom, who Ami also mentioned.

She was a woman of amazing character, who also spent time in

the camps after arrest for helping Jews escape the Nazis.

Sun, Moon, and Jupiter (right on cusp of 8th) in FIRE.

Earth Mars.

Venus is exact conj the MC (also conj Neptune and Pluto).

Saturn in the First House, which I've *heard* can imply

hardship.

I've read a couple of her books, but it has been a

very LONG time.

It was another author who cited her in an anecdote

that got me started, I think, with this

Do you know that at the Holocaust Memorial in Israel, Yad Va Shem, they have a walkway with trees and each tree is dedicated to a Righteous Gentile who saved Jews during the Holocaust.

It gives me the chills, just to write about.

Just because society turns evil, each person is still responsible for his choices

Vajra, it sounds like a 4H theme, the importance she must have attached to the children knowing where they came from and who their parents were. Sun, Mercury, or Saturn in the 4H, but that's just a guess.
