If he really wanted to mend things with his girlfriend, he would cease contact with you, a girl he has feelings for, because such a distraction is only further driving a bridge in their relationship.

Ah that's brilliant! I totally understand environments like that. I say maintain a friendly facade but cease every single inside joke you guys ever shared, make sure your eyes never sparkle when you look at him, shut him down with a change of topic whenever he tries to bring up a past sweet moment between you guys, don't discuss media recommendations anymore and bring in your co-workers for group chats with him wayyy more often than you would have in the past so there's less room for potential old verbal intimacy.

In my experience I've had better luck with deep platonic female friends, plus I don't want to hurt anyone.

I guess I'm different I'd rather be a good long term guy friend that you can share things with then some a$$hole short term bf.
Plus, I'm more into Career Goals then anything else.

I'm saying this because were not all the same.

Its really simple being a mutable air sign, Gemini can change his mind the first sign of trouble.

So if there are warning bells and the "writing is on the wall", we are ready to bail out.

if the gem has fixed or cardinal aspects, he is less likely to run away.
Age is also a factor as well.

I do like the fast paced "go,go, go energy" that Aries - Gemini can bring together.

Read nathalie1's comment, I almost had to drop my laptop when reading it because I did exactly the same thing around a leo I work with.

If he's that time of gem then yes stay a friend, but if he's the a$$hole type then just be superficial around him and don't say anything that's to deep or personal,
Keep a need to know basis.

Anyway the more I think about it he seams more of the a$$hole type and if your gut says get rid of him get rid of him.

You don't dump a gemini, depending on the gemini they may want you even more. You have to become less interesting or less desirable.

Its tricky because your a fire sign, Its harder under the eyes of a gemini to see a fire sign as less interesting then say an earth sign.

Plus, you seam to be a real cardinal Aries
that has a lot of other things to look forward to ie grad school at a top tier school.

Off topic, my minor is in Earth Science and my Prof was an Aries. She took us out to do Field Geology and it started to rain.

Most people would hate that, but she has this "good command of everyone" around her and an energetic/enthusiastic tone about being outdoors that it actually made it more memorable.

I'm the more introverted Gem. So I'm more of the nice one as described in the previous link.

The other seams more of the extroverted Alpha male type.

Right, now I'm trying to figure out what to do with that Leo I work with.

On one side of the equation I'm want to focus on finishing my Software Engineering degree and move on.

But on the other hand we have a lot of interesting aspects, for starters we can kinda sense when the other is in some sort of trouble.

The more I figure her out the more sympathetic I become.
