I have a bunch of 12th house planets. Sometimes I feel that a big part of me is hidden even from myself. So in relationships I always want to be close to people who I feel can understand me. It's hard to describe the feeling of having someone who can "see" all of me.

In many ways the 12th house is the relationship to consciousness, particularly the sub/super-conscious, in contrast to the 6th house relationship to the body and the unconscious. When we do not yet have a relationship with our own super-conscious (higher self, ego transcending sense of self) the 12th house essentially serves astrologically as the platform of the relation to the subconsious and mental health. This is the murky place where mental health, spirituality, sanity or insanity, high creativity and genius, contact with the indefinable 'other', and tools like hypnosis all meet.

It is an apparent catch-all, partly because it only vaguely suggests past lives, or at least another plane of purely consciousness perception that cannot be defined in material or practical terms. As the final house of endings, it implies all possibilities, and a coming full circle back to that elusive previous spot of origin.

It is a collection of tools for going beyond health maintenance, good habits, hygeine, etc -- and beyond oneself in service to others. Hypnosis, mental health facilities, rehab centers, hospitals, clinics, doctor's offices, charitable foundations, government services. It may be important for me to serve others in some such capacity to maintain a positive place of personal well being.

Artists and creators draw on what may be contacted in the murky planes of consciousness that aren't always the tidy boundaries of one's own sub-/super-conscious. Not that there are tidy boundaries there.

The 12th house implies 'past' because of the nature of the rotation of planets through this slice of the sky from the eastern horizon sunrise position up to 30 degrees or so (on average) in a westerly direction. Planets here have just passed the horizon, going from invisibility in the night sector of the chart, into (public) view. This implies reconciliation of self with the collective.

Creative inspiration, service, dealing with karma both within oneself psychologically and through kindness and good works -- these are all themes of the 12th house. This is the most impossible house to reduce to any explanation in words. It is by nature widely inclusive because it depends most upon the native's own, possibly long, illustrious, mixed, or disastrous past for its reference point in consciousness.

I've always had a "thing" for hospitals and places that are somehow "apart" from society.
I see myself being of service to others, just not sure how exactly.

That makes sense, with your being so observant and all.
Not too good at avoiding self-disclosure though, I see!

I wish that I had known earlier in life. I feel like it is too late now.
I would have loved to work in psychiatry with children, though I'm sure it would be very hard at times (emotionally).
Or psychology but everything is treated with medication these days.
Or law enforcement.

i also have chiron in 12th and jupiter but jupiter conjuncts my asc by 2 degrees..

So that's juptier in the 1st house, not 12th house

I think at this point in Time, I feel like my Goddess, Persephone, holds the key to one of the lessons I feel like I'm supposed to learn.

If we understand the legends as metaphors, Persephone was broken from her illusions by the king of the Unconsciousness. Her mourning fast has often been compared to depression, and I think that when she noticed how the other spirits caught there were similar to her, she sacrificed herself to the Underworld to help them.

While we're speaking of it, anyone else experience depression at some point?

DopGang,

Why too late? Is it because of your age or because of your current circumstances (are you working in a completely different field?)

I've been attracted to psychology and psychiatry for a long time and also wanted to work as a therapist or a researcher in that field. However I'm not really the healthiest person around mentally speaking, and also wonder if I could really deal with such things on a daily basis.

Sailor,

That actually resonates.
Yeah, I know depression very well.
Still struggle with that.

I'm just old. (To me I am!!)
But in a few years maybe I'll go back to school and dip into physical therapy.

That could be very satisfying for someone with a Virgo emphasis.

@DopGang, there is something very familiar about your energy. That was my first thought when I read one of your posts. Are you a Gemini Moon by chance?

^Spoken like a 12th houser! I almost thought that you were someone I knew in real life that's into astrology. Hmmm, this is the 4th time I had that feeling about a member here, and the last 3 times I was right. You've gotta have something in Gemini with so many posts in such a short time.

I knew a Gemini Sun that saying hi was no less than a 3 hour conversation.

I'm sure you'll come out of hiding eventually.
