My IC begins at 0 degrees 42 minutes Cancer, with Venus conjunct at 27 degrees Gemini, and Mars conjunct at 6 degrees Cancer.

I like the idea that we incarnate through our IC... and if this is true I suppose my soul is a hermaphrodite?ż

Humor aside, does this imply my feminine and masculine energies were already balanced at birth?

There are 2 things in my life that I must base everything I say, do and build on...I cannot change these things. These are the things that my life core is based on. One is how my life goes and what's always happening in it, the other is my deepest self and always being aware of this and trying to structure my life in a way that I'm happy.

1st-my life is a constant evolution and must work with it as that, I cannot expect to ever be one of these ppl that gets into a pattern and stays that way. Pluto on AC

2nd-I love so deeply that I want to sacrifice myself for love. When I do this it's what opens my ability to sexually bond and never stray from someone they are like my home. Eros/Valentine on IC

The IC is pure and simple your core foundation on which you base who and what feels like home. Who fits in with your deepest needs that create what is your security. Try to go against these needs is like cutting your own wrist it's emotional suicide. Ppl may not get the importance of it but if they started investigating and living according to their IC their lives would improve drastically because they would be working in accordance with their core self values and needs.

The best synastry is when someones ASC or MC touches your IC and vice-versa. I've seen it plenty of times. The 4 points are very pure, unfiltered energies.

I think people take for granted the uniqueness of the MC/IC axis. Especially being that it can fall in several different houses depending on the location of ones birth.

Readingthestars said something i've never thought of before. The idea of the soul entering and leaving the body through the IC made a lot of sense to me. I actually never thought of it that way until now. That means that it is in the IC that shows our most raw and primal sense of self that eventually finds release through the MC.

Yes the MC is Yang and the IC is Yin, so the MC will obviously be more transparent. But the IC is like the furnace in our basement while the MC is the heat throughout the house. It doesn't show, but you can feel it inside of you and can immediately and unconsciously identify with anything related to it.

This opens up to the importance of signs that are opposite to each other and why oppositions are important. Cant have one without the other, so maybe people should take more time in learning their opposite sign just as much as their Sun because somewhere on their natal wheel its being just as active.

Thank you Comatoes! I enjoyed your comment about the IC, and appreciate your insight here:

Your Father's legacy is bringing this Star into his own being and into his family's legacy. Does your family as a whole exhibit any of these Alpheratz traits?

Interesting...my 16 Aries Jupiter is conjunct my 16 Aries Draconic Venus.

My father was a Libra sun, his sun quincunx Pisces Jupiter.

My siblings and I are freedom-loving and independent.

As for Venus-Jupiter...we are all artistic: two brothers can draw and play guitar, one brother can play almost any instrument, my sister was a piano prodigy, another brother loves everything about music but doesn't play, and I draw.

We all went to private school and have four-year college degrees; two brothers have their Master's. So there is some intelligence.

We are an eccentric family...not sure how to summarize, but I think anyone who sat at a table with us would know what I mean in a few minutes. Two of my brothers are absolutely hilarious and the rest of us are like the supporting cast.

IC is the lowest point of the chart, and the lowest point of someone's personality too.

I have Aries IC. For me, it represents the childhood. I can say it has greatly shaped my personality, and who I am today. And it is definitely a part of myself that I'd like to keep hidden too. Its very sensitive.

My IC falls in Gemini in my 5th House. My Moon and Mars in Gemini are both conjunct my IC.

Everything I do, and I do mean everything, is done with my home and family in mind. I might limit myself and sacrifice my potential in the process, but I would be eat up with guilt if I didn't put my home and family first. I am a homebody. I would rather be there than anywhere else. I'm not an agoraphobic, though. I can go outside of the home for work, etc. I just prefer to be there more than anywhere else. It's also where I have the most fun. My most creative, funny, relaxed self comes out when I'm home or with family. The real me that exists in the home environment doesn't necessarily match up with my public image. I'm a very private person and I'm very protective of my family and home.

I had a friend a couple of years ago who had their Moon and Mars (also) in Gemini, conjunct my IC. I literally thought that I had met my male twin. Not in a sibling way, but in a 'wow we're just alike' way. I also felt really, really safe with this person, even though I barely knew him. Synastry-wise, I think its an excellent aspect to have, though I think its sometimes much more difficult to forget someone who's planets touch the IC, maybe because they're affecting the most personal point of the natal chart. That's just been my experience.

I think of the IC as my bedroom.

Any changes made in my room are likely to affect me personally. As its a very personal space for me. And not one that I share with the outside world.

I go to my room to lock the world away and retire to my dreams. So it also serves as my state of "rest". The final "resting place" after the day is done.

So planets transiting the IC may affect ones sense of rest/peace i.e Transits to the IC often suggests some type of shift/change that psychologically affects us.

If Jupiter transits the IC for instance, it may suggest a new arrival to the family dynamics. If you were an only child, you no longer get all the attention etc.

It could also suggest a move to a bigger place(Jupiter). Or one that will expose you to more people.

Saturn crossed my IC during my 1st year in varsity. It was a time where I had to take responsibility for myself and I was truly very excited.

It also meant that for the most past of those years,I had to share my living space and learn to be less defensive about my privacy.

Pluto on the IC is often very significant. As it often suggests that there are major changes around the family/home dynamics that are permanent in nature.

This transit may suggest a move to another country, the loss of a significant parent or a sudden status change within the family that changes things to a point where they will never be the same again.

Whatever it is,it is likely to be a very important/significant period in the native's life.

It's conjunct the sun of the man of my dreams who is like the manifestation of my personal Prince Charming within 1 degree. Seriously, I think this man is perfect. Apart from that, I don't know what influence it has had, if any.

I have a Sagittarius IC and I relate to it a lot. I've always felt left out in my family like the black sheep. I get along better with them when I am far away from them or can have long breaks from them. I have Mercury and Juno conjunct it.

My IC is in Scorpio and I have NN and Uranus in the 3H conjunct and Sag rxNeptune conjunct on other side.

My Mom is a triple Scorpio (Sun, Moon and Mercury). I have Sun, Moon and Mercury sq Pluto. I also have Pluto conj Asc in pChart and by calculation it'll stay there until I pass to greener fields.

I *think* I must be one of few people in world that have managed to amass a HUGE amount of friends and lovers with a Scorpio Moon! It's almost an irresistable force. I also think the only other sign that can feel as deeply as a Scorpio is Cap, that's my opinion though.

I have a Scorpio IC conjunct Venus-Proserpina and opposite Persephone.

I have synastry with someone whose Pluto is right on top of all that. But our relationship is not like the myth at all.. (thankfully). It's actually kind of the opposite - he said he feels like he has to protect me (which I found odd and a little patronizing at first), and he constantly unearths all these things about me that I don't consciously realize. He's caused me to change significantly over a short period of time, and to stand up for myself, and I think we'll be friends forever.

In return, my Saturn-Karma-YES conjuncts his IC-Child in Pisces. I'm not entirely sure how I affect him, but I am definitely always there for him.

Also, we swear we were siblings in a past life. It is such an in-your-face 'I've known you all my life and I'm totally myself around you' energy, and I don't even know where to begin with our similarities.

All in all, I regard the IC as one of the most, if not the most, important pieces of astrology.

I'm not sure if this helps anyone, but I dug a little deeper into this IC thing especially with past synastries and I literally said "WOW" out loud when I read this about his Saturn conjunct my IC in synastry:

"If someone’s Saturn falls on my IC or in my fourth house, I will most likely feel responsible for them. I may want to guide and nurture them, and feel a profound link that may be more familial than romantic, though the two feelings certainly can merge. At first, I will feel safe, and anchored. If the person who owns Saturn has parent issues, I may eventually fall into the role of a father or mother figure, particularly if there is an age difference in the relationship. The attachment may unconsciously be one of parent/mentor, and a lack of equality in the relationship may not go noticed until it is too late. Saturn may be fine in the beginning of the relationship, but after a time the angle person may find themselves increasingly unable to express their emotions in any kind of honest or spontaneous way. Saturn may bring the angle person unwelcome familial responsibility. The angle person may feel emotionally oppressed and burdened by the relationship, and grow tired of carrying someone else’s Saturn issues as well as their own." (http://theinnerwheel.com/2009/10/13/synastry-studies-the-mcic-part-two-aspects-and-inter-aspects/)

This explains SO much about how I felt towards the end of my relationship with this individual, it's mind boggling. We had a great relationship, lots of laughs and warm fuzzy feelings (his Moon fell in my 4th - along with Neptune and Saturn/Uranus conjunct IC) but it was almost TOO warm and fuzzy...too easy...too familiar? He was my best friend, which was great, but there was very little romantic spark, very little raw passion.

I've always told everyone the biggest reason I ended things with him was because I felt like his "mother" (he is 2 years younger than me). I did everything for him...cook, clean, etc. and mentored him in every area of his life - I even taught him how to do his hair (yes...). It was cute at first, I almost felt like I was molding him (like a project), but then it began to wear on me because I realized he was teaching ME nothing, and I began to resent it. It almost became like a burden because he was so "helpless" in so many areas.

If I wanted an easy peasy life with someone reliable and predictable and "safe," I would have stayed with him...but I needed a bigger challenge and someone who pushed me to grow.

The bond is strong though. Even after the break up there were next to no hard feelings and we remain friends to this day.

Thanks for that, it makes much more sense that the IC person would feel that way instead of the Saturn person. My friendship is similar, but I know that I do help him grow

The IC is too subjective to get a handle on it, it varies too much person to person so it's hard to test in a real World environment. But this does not lessen its effects. The IC and Descendant are yin influenced -- these 2 points are reflective and also these points can be the most abused as this is the area of the chart that we give away to others. Our power is not as strong in this area of the chart until we learn how to use it effectively, we become affected by what we experience, because "others" are trying to change us, manipulate us, or have authority over us. Think of early childhood or even into adulthood -- children are powerless against family or continue to be manipulated by family or as they become parents themselves they carry the same "roots" to their children etc. It can manifest many ways. The descendant is where people want something from us, they take freely, and we are at the mercy of these relationship dynamics.

I personally believe the IC reveals itself always and strongly influential in each person's life that it would be a great error not to include it. If you know how to read charts and use Psychology you can unearth why a person is the way they are internally. The IC becomes even more important as we progress in life because it is the core of where we came from and genetically what we pass on through our efforts, this is not necessarily children, but what we leave behind -- our words, ideas, gifts to others, how we affected people internally with just being ourselves.

I do wish Astrodienst and astrology programs would include a on/off feature for the IC and Descendant aspects.

This was an excellent explanation Comatoes - ty! So far, just through my own independent study of astrology and my self, I realized that my IC explains core behaviors and patterns that have rippled throughout my life. It's pretty amazing how, just by studying this one axis, I gained an entirely new perspective on my chart AS WELL AS what I'm unintentionally passing on to others (with my words, actions, etc...) through letting them experience this intimate part of myself (I think this is a very important aspect of the IC that you picked up on).

I agree that studying the IC gives an overwhelming amount of information about the core psychology of a person - I too wish it was included in aspect charts on astrology programs especially when it comes to looking at synastry.

I have only recently started to really study astrology and I've found that the one thing that has made a huge impact on my understanding was NOT to study these placements in isolation - but as part of an axis, like you mention here. In my opinion, the oppositions are incredibly important because they are paradoxical expressions of a unifying theme. Only by integrating both can you solve the fundamental challenge of that theme.

MC in Virgo IC in Pisces
Aries Moon in 4th House
Uranus Finished Transiting 4th House

I AM A REBEL.

My ideal family would be sitting all at dinner table smiling, happy and there is abundant more over from some commercial or movie. Everybody is capable, nobody is competing or jealous of each other achievement. Built up rather than tear down. Laughing and having nurturing healthy relationships with good personal boundaries.

I hate my family and I do not believe in any family relationships. They have so far given me lots of problems and have taken away all my resources. My family doesn't support me in fact leaves me with lots of negativity, lots of abuse as a child.

I have married from someone in another culture and I was asked this weekend if I had broken rule.I said I have been for a while and I was referring to Uranus Transit. Now Uranus has gone to my 5th House I still have serious questions on what my family should be or what I can expect in future realistically?

I always get bit annoyed when people say I have been able to do things because of my family or because support of my family. It makes me realize I really do not have those kind of people around me. I was told about Soul Family and waiting for that people to come up but I also do not see my in laws as that sort of family.

I work hard while everyone else seems to do nothing and I do not want anything from anyone as I do not want to be in their debt which people reclaim for.

I feel highly responsible and anxious for older generation but I also know I do not want to take care of them, as I have wasted lot of time, money and energy taking care of my family and in laws. I do not ask for anything more but people should be at least positive. While I have always been responsible, sensible and understanding I have seen lack of it towards me.

Sorry for big rant but I am really frustrated and I actually hate my IC house.
