I'm just curious. What decade? (Just in case it makes a difference.) What in your chart do you think helps explain it?I've been looking up a few classic names like Sid Vicious (Neptunian), Nancy Spungen (also Neptunian, and a Pisces), and I tried a couple of others but didn't find charts. My experience of mixing with hardcore punks when I was 15 (mostly summer of 1998) was interesting. It wouldn't surprise me if many were Neptunian as well, though when I saw the movie on Sid & Nancy, the characters portrayed didn't remind me of any of the punks I'd known. And remembering those I did know I get an impression of more fire and water energy rather than air (including Aquarius) and earth, but I'm sure all kinds could be found. But most were teenagers so fire and water would be more obvious than earth and air. Many that I'd met identified as anarchists, though I'm not certain if they knew what that was about (of course they were kids so any deep thought on the matter is unlikely). Some were also vegan which I found interesting as their lives could be pretty extreme and yet they chose that (I vaguely recall one saying something about how what happens to animals is what metaphorically happens to humans, so by being vegan he was making a metaphoric statement against human society, which I found poetic). They generally got along with goths but clashed violently with skinheads. I wouldn't say drug use was common among them but I was only particularly close to a handful (if it was then it wasn't obvious, and I don't consider the punk look indicative of such--if anything, some of those looks require dedication and mental concentration, and given how often they were hassled by authority figures I imagine those into a lot of drugs were busted for it fast and repeatedly). A very few were even devoutly religious (Christian and otherwise, though they didn't seem to take offense over those with blasphemous nicknames), but I didn't get into any deep theological talks with them as that wasn't an interest of mine back then. I generally got along with them, but then I got along with a lot of people. Anyway, if anyone ever was part of that subculture or know someone who was, what do you think their natal chart had to do with it? IP: Logged |

Somewhat. It depends on my mood. Like one of my best friends is a punk shes so cool ^^ She's very virgo according to her western chart but according to her sidereal shes full blown aquarius xDI mean you can be a Virgo & still be a punk .... You would just act a little differently.. lol In sidereal Im very pisces & in regular Im very Libra I think that I just love the color black like its all I wear I have 50 different color shirts and they are all different shapes and sizes and patterns IN BLACK lmao I also like my beret.... I also wear heavy make up and the music I listen to is very mixed I wouldnt narrow it down to punk Also I love authority and respect them and am somewhat intimidated by them Charts in siggy ^^ IP: Logged |

Late 80's early 90's. Saw Exploited, Circle Jerks, Danzig's first tour where they played Misfits and Samhain, Butthole Surfers, Fugazi, etc... Still operate as a punk.------------------ Claire "When going gets weird, the weird turn pro." -HST IP: Logged |

Jupiter and Uranus play into this. I'm still friends with many local musicians who were in the punk scene. Spungen and Vicious weren't the defining moment of punk; just a sad tragedy. I think the dark side of Neptune, Pluto, and Uranus played a huge part in their synastry. I don't know. 70's punk was much louder and bigger than the Sex Pistols. New York Dolls, Patti Smith, Gary Glitter, Ramones,etc... ------------------ Claire "When going gets weird, the weird turn pro." -HST IP: Logged |

Given my Sag Mars-Uranus, I'm surprised I didn't go punk myself (though I did dye my hair at times later on). Maybe I figured it was too much work, especially with that stellium being in my 5H. Perhaps if I'd been, say, a 6H Leo Mars-Uranus, I could have had a punk phase by willing to put the work into it, attention to detail, and wanting to stand out. As it was, we got along well. The stories I could share... I was rebellious to authority, and yet I don't think that was just my chart (granted, my Sag Mars-Uranus made it all too easy). There were adults and such I respected, problem was I lost respect for too many of them. And though I do have a more mature view on all that today that realizes sometimes I was too fast to assume the worst and that some adults I trusted back then had actually played me by exploiting that distrust, I still had good reason to lose respect for the system and those who bossed me around. But when I met someone worthy of respect then I respected their authority, but it was rare that would happen...and interesting enough, such adults were usually anti-authoritarian themselves. I'm mostly basing the "essence of punk" on the style and music, though. I found punk music acceptable but I rarely enjoyed it much (I was much more into haunting darkwave and/or symphonic music) and because of that I don't consider myself punk. And though I admired how well some of them pulled off the look (I could actually get mesmerized by how the spiked hair of one bounced as he walked) I preferred trickery and stealth to open defiance and also preferred not to worry about how I looked given that I was so athletic (though given the brutal mosh pit the punks took part in, and me with them at times though it was more like a game of "dodge" for me than to slam into others, can't say they were worried about their own looks and clothes!). Heck, I was already at a disadvantage at the time because I had a street name that only boys used (save me) and making myself more distinct would've been a big risk since I was a criminal at the time and had bad people on both sides of the law looking for me (though in retrospect I believe one cop stalking me for illegal purposes was hiding his obsession over me from the other cops as they usually helped each other and always had backup, but he came after me when he was by himself and without any help or backup, but at the time I just saw the cops as the biggest, baddest gang in the city who'd stand behind each other no matter what, and no matter how illegal, violent, or perverse the activities of their members). In an ironic sense I'd call punks for help before I called the cops...and even to this day I can't say I was wrong to think that, at least back when I was a 15-year-old runaway as they not only saw me as a human being rather than street trash but defended me from skinheads without my even asking them to (cops would probably defend skinheads from punks before they defended me from skinheads, at least in the Lower Westheimer region of the time). But back to what is punk...if you liked the music enough to have favorites that you listened to frequently (listening to other genres is fine just as long as you had favorites among punk bands) and "dressed differently" so that you'd stand out in school (and especially if school faculty didn't allow it or made the dress code stricter after you went punk ) then that counts. I knew three that were really deep into the punk subculture. A sag, aqua and pisces. Dont know any more than that! The sag was actually very philosophical about it and she liked the music and anything goes lifestyle. I was a goth but I think that is a completely different type of person! IP: Logged |

I always thought it's Uranus. The Neptunians got lost on drugs but there are those that are not into drugs. One girl I knew was also lost and hooked on drugs. She has Moon in Pisces and Sun/Asc. Cancer. She was hiding behind a mask of make up. Never understood that one. I never used make up. But then there's the incredible obnoxious Johnny Rotten. He is an Aquarian. Apparently he has Scorp Ascendant with Saturn conjunct it (Sag first house). His Venus in Pisces seems to only make one aspect, square Mars in Sag. Mercury opp Uranus.I was and still am a huge fan of the Stranglers (Pisces/Virgo/Aries band members). They liked to shock. Uranus. I am curious what their composite looks like. When I was 16 - 21 I was into a lot of punk music, played in a punk band and kind of had a punky look but didn't want to be labeled like that. Colour of my hair was bright pink (still like that one the best), blue, red, green. Neptune is nog a biggy in my chart. Uranus is. I listened to UK punk a lot and Irish, Stiff little fingers. Love it! Vocalist is a Pisces (feb 21st). He has the same birthday as my hero, bass player JJ Burnel of the Stranglers. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1OIzhiQf490 So yeah, Neptune seems to play a role in punk. IP: Logged |

Funny thing is the US punk was different than the UK punk. http://punkmusic.about.com/od/punk101/a/punkhistory2.htm In this article they talk about expanding the definitions of music. Expansion = Jupiter. That's really what happened when it started in the late 60's. Also experimenting if you like and uniqueness and individuality (Uranus) and no boundaries = Neptune. IP: Logged |

I was heavily into the punk scene in the 80's-90's, mohawk and all. Still an old punker at heart just dress more like a mom now. 10th house stellium mars/pluto/jupiter/uranus all on the virgo/libra cusp. Sun scorp, moon early pisces, 5th house ruled by aries. Still listen to all of the music, still go to see live shows and still enjoy going against the norm. IP: Logged |

YES!!! Great bands, would have loved to see SLF live back in the day! JJ Burnel is an AMAZING base player! I'm partial to the old Stranglers with Hugh Cornwell. As far as the music goes, I've noted East Coast punk, West coast Punk and UK Punk - I love all three. As far as the attitude associated with the punk culture - it's universal.

I have Cybele conjunct the Sun and it explains a lot. I never fit into any category but I was freaking wild and crazy and hung out with lots of traveling punks.. I was rebellious even against punk though, wouldn't dress to conform with that crowd either, at least not for long... IP: Logged |

That's very interesting, I just checked and I have it and 28 degrees virgo in the tenth house tightly conducting my jupiter and uranus and a bit more widely ( by 4 degrees) my mars and pluto. I was pretty wild back in the day. Got kicked out of a few schools, Wouldn't trade those times for anything... IP: Logged |

How nice punk Ann7! Of course I like the Stranglers with Hugh but I have been to a concert of them a few years back, and it was really great! I am so lucky! I once tried to get an interview with them back in '89. IT WORKED! I just used my Gemini Mercury skills. I interviewed JJ Burnel, of all people!! It was one of the biggest events of my life. We played table soccer and he won because I was too nervous. I was 19 at the time. I like US punk too. Not all of them. Dead Kennedy's was too political and too, I don't know, negative. I don't like that. I really liked the Ramones but it's very simple and poppy, me like. Naked Raygun, loved the Descendants back then https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lfy9ZqKUJjU Or I remember been to a concert of hardcore punk like R.K.L. Very energetic. But that didn't have my heart. I don't listen to much of it nowadays, I have changed. SLF has passion and intensity I loved it! This is great https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6I-U9dt_NBA Listen to the bass by Bad brains. Partisans https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3_ZUybYk6fk Or oh yeah GBH, silly band! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eAqeA5Hc0K4 Ok, I am spamming. Couldn't help myself. I listen to Indie nowadays and a lot of 80's (midlife crisis ) IP: Logged |
